It will show high frequencies and duty cycle OK at the "hz/%" position.

I love so much this multimeter that if you do another +1-hour review about it, I'll watch it 3 times (eating popcorn).

Thank you for your comprehensive review. This is the best review of the AN870/ZT219/RM219. All of the other YT reviews failed to check its specified DCV accuracy of +/-0.05%+3. It'll be interesting to know how well it maintains its accuracy after 12 to 24 mths. This meter is very good value given its high resolution & accuracy. However, given it has less input protection than more expensive high-end DMMs means it should not be subjected to misuse or abuse - take more care with it.

Thank you. I still need to go back and check the frequency and duty cycle in the "Hz" mode and do a proper resistance test, but the multimeter is good indeed! And it's my second most used one (number one at home) since I got it.

I have compared the Aneng AN870 with a Siglent 3045X DMM (0.01% accuracy). I tested just DC voltage on a lead-acid battery (so a very simple test). The Siglent reported 12.226 V and the AN870 12.227 V. That was really a surprise, this cheap meter was really "spot on". However, AC, current, resistance or other DC-voltage ranges are not tested yet.

The AC voltage measurement with waveforms other than sine wave is disappointing. The AN8009 performs a lot better. I wonder if this flaw has been fixed in newer editions of the 870.

For ANENG 870 during the test for frequency and duty Cycle I think you should use Hz % on the right side not the left one with AC symbol, this video of frequency and duty cycle is so misleading.... sadly.

@@ruevs Ah thank you for the respond. So is this multimeter able to measure the frequency of square wave? I wish to measure instrument with 17DCV Amplitude and work at 0~12kHz.

A few days ago I bought an an870 and I can also confirm that the resistance measurement is sometimes imprecise and the result is random.

Hi, in you're video, when you test the An870 in frequency meter mode, you have the selector on the left side, what are the readings if you select the "Hz %" on the selector for the range ? At 48:40 and after when you say it is having trouble at 200KHz...

The .01ohm shunt is dissipating 4w at 20a load. Doesn't that small length of mystery wire get hot enough to affect its resistance? Is that accounted for in the software calibration file?

    • @ruevs

Theoretically the input voltage tolerance of the voltage input shold be 1000V irrespective of the measurement mode. But I have not tested it.

    • @hqiu6828

For such a low price multimeter, it is aimed for home or hobby use, not recommended for high voltage high frequency situations.

When testing frequency why did you not test it on the separate HZ% position please? Was there something in the manual you didn’t tell us? It seemed strange that you didn’t test that setting?

do you think the AN870 supports 3.7v, because I would like to use a rechargeable battery to power it ?

    • @ruevs
      @ruevs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have not tried it. Nominally 2*AA are 3V and a fully charged LiIon is 4.2V (it is ≈3.7V for most of its discharge curve). I doubt it anything bad will happen if you feed it 4.2V but you never know...
Why do you want to power it from a LiIon? What's wrong with rechargeable NiMH AA cells?

Good video. I know now which one i should buy. An advice , tests with ac voltage having a frequency above 120 hz are meaningless because the device was not designed for higher frequencies. I see they are not true rms because the measured voltage varies with waveform and does not match the HP DMM

    • @gheorgheioan95
