This just a theory and opinion of some fans: It is implied that Rosti is actually a genderbent clone of Elfaria that she controls remotely, which is why she sleeps so often. ✌️
Not a theory but it's literally correct rosti is elfaria
I agree rosty is also elfaria her ice clone is more like similar to Naruto's shadow clone that can change it's appearance and judging from how much mana elfaria has im pretty sure that it's easy for him to remotely control rosty from the top of the tower

It was weird how Elfaria could see and hear Will at the tournament even though she was on the top of the tower. And when Will won, Rosti looked very devastated. I was wondering why he looked so shocked, even though he was on Wills side all along… then we see Elfi in the tower and she is crying because Will said she was bulling him when they were little. That means Rosti‘s weird reaction was in fact just Elfi being devastated because of what Will said…

it's not an big spoiler anymore since in the tournament arc, if you do give an attention closely. you'll see the reaction of rosty and elfi is synchronized. when elfi sleep, rosty is in all like really alive. but when elfi crying about her dark past, you can see rosty is being unconcious. it's a literally a hint, since the clone magic that elfi use is really need an actively full control
@Foxintox It's really, really obvious. F(Rosty) S(Nowman) is the name, they have the same voice actress in every dub version, and in this episode alone the bio does not include a favorite food when every other bio does plus lists the dislike as "Fire and Flame Magic." The author is literally winking at the audience at this point.

Blah blah blah on the comments. It's just a convenient way for the writer to add in gay and trans stuff. It's just done this way to sneak in.
The show was already poorly written and cliche, and now I see why.
You expect me to believe that the writer of "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon" is trying to spread a message? You're funny; that's funny. Sure, sure... The same guy who has an MC with 16 different girls fawning over him is totally pushing an agenda. Same guy that made Hestia a shortstack, suuuuuuure.
Maybe you should think about the fact that Elfaria cannot just make a perfect clone of herself to serve as Will's roommate. The reasoning is simple to anyone that ever went to school; you don't have roommates of the opposite gender. Elfaria had to make her higher grade ice clone like that for this to work. You can also see the Headmaster talking to someone offscreen about arrangements being made in ep 2. That was setting up this. It's basically just another condition for her to accept ascending the tower, watching over Will "in person." I think it really just shows how obsessive Elfaria is when it comes to Will, and how clueless he is because his only friend prior to going to school was her, who is already super clingy towards him so he just sees it as normal when so much affection is not.
