- More nonsense! I had to pull the engine out of this 1994 BMW 540i parts car. The 4.0L I just swapped into my touring died prematurely due to a pre-existing oiling issue which I'll find when I tear that engine down. I decided to film a time lapse and talk about some ways these can be pulled. Overall, its a VERY easy car to work on, and replace the engine on, especially compared to modern BMW's.
Sorry about the fan on at the end, it was HOT in the shop and I didn't think about it.

Bumping an old video here but; I have the pleasure of knowing an older gentleman who was a BMW technician from the late 60s into the early 2000s in Scandinavia. He's told me that the Nikasil was a way better liner than the alusil that followed, pointing to its racing pedegree and claimed it to be more durable than alusil (given you have "good" gas). We didn't have sulphur in our gasoline but he said that if the engine is still healthy he would never consider an alusil over a nikasil M60

A little m60 secret…California had low sulfur content in their gas in the 90s…so m60s that spent their life in California don’t have nikasil problems 😉
