That's awesome!! The SDW is perfect for beginners. Not too long, not far away from civilization, the terrain is gentle and easy rolling hills....nothing steep, lots of villages and taps to get water, no need to filter. Good one to test all your gear! :). Im doing the Scottish National Trail and the Cleveland Way in April - June 2024. Cant wait!!
Here we go again 😊. Some great pubs along the path. If you’ve not already passed, try the pub at Amberley. Enjoy the pigs later on during your walk and cadence farm cafe before you get to Devils Dyke.
Great going, really enjoying the updates! Hope you're able to get some enjoyment on the SDW, even if it's a bit of come down after the fantastic C2C with Ben. Know what you mean about not-so-friendly people down south by the way (I'm in Kent), very sad! 😒
I recommend the Tour du Mont Blanc (France, Italy, Switzerland) as a must do 2 week trip - I really mean this, it is a classic up there with the C-C with lots of huts where you can book in advance to avoid carrying a tent. In Peru I recommend the full Cordillera Huayhuash circuit which is 2 weeks in totally remote mountains with 5000m passes surrounded by 7000m mountains and the hiking is incredible. For a longer but lower trip the GR10 along the Pyrenees is great (2 months) - I have recommended this to your before.

I plan to do the SDW next summer. I think it is a walks that needs meadows, flowers and green trees.

A flat but otherwise scenic trail. I'm surprised there weren't more people (other than the 3 joggers) using the trail.
There was nobody thst day. Maybe 2-3 other people walking their dogs
