      In otherwords, the stadium existed for another 34 years, you never went back, but wanted to use this opportunity to interject your culture war BS where it wasn't warranted.

    Man this takes me down memory lane! I remember walking up those ramps to the upper deck for Tribe games as a kid in the late 80’s early 90’s. And going in the Men’s room and being terrified by the ginormous urinal troughs😂. The place was cavernous I miss it. New ballparks are so sterile it’s just not the same. Although the bathrooms are much better lol

    If you think about it, this baseball game was the beginning of the end for the Browns original football team. Because Art Modell who owned the Browns also owned the stadium so he made more money when the Indians had to pay rent but when they moved to Jacobs Field he lost money, couldn’t get a new stadium so he moved the Browns to Baltimore to become the Ravens two years later. It all worked out in the end because Cleveland got a new Browns team and stadium.

    Than you so much for these uploads. God do I miss the old stadium. Everything about it had a charm and personality about it that you dont see today. The smell of stadium hot dogs boiled not grilled. The smell if cherry tobacco cigarettes permeating throughout the air in that venue. The smell of beer all throughout. No cell phones no texting no selphies. Fans just enjoying the moment.

    Went to the last Indians victory at the old girl. The series before the last three games. It was against Milwaukee Brewers. It was a Sunday game. Sat on the 3 base side behind the Brewers dugout. They did fan appreciation Day that game. A man in front of me won an autographed Sandy alomar Jr Jersey.

    Memorial Stadium and Municipal Stadium in Baltimore and Cleveland. Were both castles. I know I miss these type of parks. I hate what the Jake has turned into. Ghastly adverts removal of bleachers and the upper decks. What a mess

    I remember making that walk across the Bridge to Gate A a few times as a kid. Seeing the Browns Sign. Even remember the inside of the Stadium. Never sat in the upper levels. But man I wish I could experience the old girl as an adult and remember her more............I don't care what anyone says. She may have been a dump......but I loved the place.

    The last game at Cleveland Stadium was actually the original Browns farewell game before they became the Baltimore Ravens. The new Browns Stadium was built on the same site as the old stadium.

    • @johnepants
      @johnepants 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The bathrooms were horrible like any old stadium, but it had a lot of charm for being a multipurpose facility. I wish we had the 95 season there. 80,000 fans would have been insane

    • @johnepants
      @johnepants 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MikaFrogPossum667 yeah, the troughs were something, but what was worse were the two stalls with no room to maneuver, and good luck if you needed to poop.
      Other than that, the stadium had pillars like all old stadiums but I don’t remember them being as bad as they are at places like Wrigley or Fenway

    A guy I worked with climbed the foul pole at this game and spent a little time in jail because of it. lol! I believe it was this game. He actually made it on either the front page or the first page of the sports section of the Plain Dealer next day.

    Did that walk many times. You know something? I was friends with both Reds, Tigers, and Pirate fans while in college and went to see games in all 4 places. I enjoyed games in Cleveland much more than the others. Now, I know some of it is bias (and Tiger Stadium was a great old ballpark). And yes, a lot of it was the bad Indians teams so didn't fight crowds much, but buying a general admission ticket and sitting in field boxes by the 5th inning sure beat looking straight down on plastic grass in the upper decks in Cinci and Pitt. They called it "the mistake by the lake" but my memories were pure gold. And btw, NOBODY I know ever called it "Municipal". It was just "the Stadium" to us Clevelanders.

    • @ClevelandLiveMusic
      @ClevelandLiveMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100% on "The stadium". We were lucky to be able to see baseball there IMO. most of my youth so cheap to get in and move to box seats

      19:32 mark - after the pyrotechnic flourish after the National Anthem behind the outfield stands, there was an errant explosion 10 seconds afterward. My guess here is that an errant firework shell that was supposed to explode over the CF stands misfired unexploded, went errantly and landed near 1st base, and then, after a delay, detonated. The explosion had no peony burst so it was an aerial bomb. The explosion almost injured a person in the vicinity of the detonation.

  • @charlessmith263

    Was that the moment that Cleveland's Albert Belle blasted a dinger and set off the stadium fireworks in return at this now-dead stadium?

    I have a lot of great memories of Cleveland Stadium, the Tribe and the Browns. I loved that old place. However you can call me a heretic, but I'd still take Progressive Field over Municipal 7 days a week. It really is a gem of a new facility, and I have memories there that Municipal cannot touch (like WINNING baseball, World Series games, post-season baseball)
    Brown's Stadium is another matter; the new one really is a Factory of Sadness. I have no good memories there. I'll take Muni for football. Even though some of my memories aren't too pleasant (I was there for The Drive; talk about a heartbreaker)
