I don't remember Ash ever being this scathing on a new release. Once I heard that this was closely related to the other flankers, my interest went away. I'll check it out at some point, but I'm in no rush.
Find his Dior Homme 2020 review. He hated it at first but like this maybe with more time he might end up liking it. I really like Dior 2020 but he didnt like the iris getting pulled.
Wow I really appreciate this honesty compared to everyone else that has bought this and then tries to convince themselves and everybody else that it's the best thing ever and worth it.
I work in the fragrance department in macys & when I first got my nose on this fragrance a few days ago I wasn’t amazed at all I remember helping a client in my store by spaying Y edp on a card & Y Elixir on the other she said she couldn’t really smell the Elixir version compared to Y Edp & loved the smell of the Edp better once I spoke about pricing she was sold on the Y Edp compared to Elixir she’s like you get more for less money & it smells stronger then this small Elixir that’s $180 all I said was great choice ✅
I went to macys several days ago hoping y elixir was gonna be different and bold like sauvage elixir.... I was disappointed. I bought a backup bottle of sauvage elixir, and I'm only sticking with y le parfum the most sophisticated and unique fragrance in the Y lineup
@@kiphackman6343just a suggestion, but if you love Sauvage Elixir you need to try Alexandria Fragrances version called Ete’ Sauvage. It’s twice the amount for $110. It’s hands down the best. I have 4 bottles. 😊
Elixer has just become a new marketing ploy that doesn't really mean anything. Houses are just slapping Elixer on their stuff and bumping the price. All we are paying for is the Elixer label cash grab. As always thanks for exposing the truth Ash!!
I am glad you’re always honest. That being said I do truly enjoy this Y. This could be because I only own one other Y and that’s the edp. L’Elixir is my favorite one for sure. Maybe it’s some subconscious of the price I paid. But hey everyone has their own opinion. Others like me love it.
Was sent a bottle by YSL through their influencer program and liked it. On my skin it smells sweet all day. My only other YSL is L’homme from around 2012. Loved that so much I still have 3 sealed bottles lol.
THANK YOU AHSTON for being honest!!! I tested this, and felt EXACTLY the same about this release as you. It is refreshing to see honesty, when the other 'tubers and influencers are out there ballwashing this fragrance like it was sent from heaven. Everything you said was 100% spot-on.
Thank you for such an honest review . It’s harder to come buy especially when some reviewers get these comped and it skews the review especially when price to result is your biggest gripe ! .. keep these up!
This was the video i was waiting on. Every other tuber seemed to praise it but deep down i think they had to cause they spent $200 for something they already have. So i definitely appreciate the raw honesty
At first clicking this video I was sad because I literally just bought a replacement bottle of my Y EDP, and I was like go figure they'd release another one a week after I got that. Not too sad about that now. Lol. Thanks for this.
I like it! It is so smooth on the nose. No harshness to be found. If you’re a Sauvage or Spice Bomb fan, then this is not for you. This is a subtle classy cologne that will seamlessly mix with your body oils to project a clean scent.
Great review Ash! I respect that you don't hold back when it comes to criticism, and pointing flaws in your reviews! One of my favorite reviews from you are of Dior Homme 2020 and Valentino Born in Roma, where you don't necesarily hate the fragrance, but didn't like the direction that these companies go, when they are no longer coming with anything unique or out there, or when they don't bother to step out of their comfort zone like with Y Elixir, pretty disappointed that this one doesn't do anything special, now I know I shouldn't bother trying it if it's not that much different at all to the other flankers.
I have bought EDP, leParfum and Intense and I have to say the performance has been steadily declining, Myself is weak as well, so it doesn’t surprise me that the performance with the elixir is subpar.
That's $285 CAD for a 60 ml YSL LINE !!! ranging close to some Luxury TOM FORD 100 ml bottles!! great review & content Ash! Glad to save the money! I'l hold on to my Y EDP & Dior Sauvage Elixer
Got a taste of this at the department store and I thought there was something wrong with me. Thank you for letting me know all is correct and this fragrance underwhelms
I haven't watched the video yet or read the comments but my prediction is nothing will ever touch dior sauvage elixir. It is hands down the most compliment getting fragrance I've ever experienced.
I somewhat hoped that they pull something like Dior did with Sauvage Elixir (which is the only Sauvage i like), as for me the whole Y line is redundant after trying Y EDP, which is clearly the best release out of the line, and happens to be my favourite blue fragrance. Y Elixir is an easy pass after some reviews.
Respect the review. I actually have tested this out a few times and I agree, I noticed the similarity to the YSL Y EDP, but at the same time it’s expected because it’s apart of the Y line. Everybody has their opinion, but for me personally I think this is 🔥. I won’t say it’s an upgrade to the EDP, but I think the perfumer possibly took some similarities from the EDP and made it its own unique luxurious fragrance. One thing I learned w/ fragrances is just try it for yourself. Everybody genetic make up is different. What smells superb to me may be different for you and vice versa. But from my few experiences w/ this fragrance, especially if you’re a Y fan, this is definitely a buy for me. Easily.
Appreciate the honesty Ash! To be fair I'm not a fan of the whole Y line as they're basically copying Sauvage down to the bottle design that looks like their respective private blends. With that being said I think I think the Y line peaked with Le Parfum, it truly has character and the blacked out bottle design feels like it would've been perfect for an Elixir release.
Glad for this review.. . Live is my favorite in the line.... I'll wait a while for it to pop up on discounters to complete the line. Sauvage Elixir is nuclear in performance, I'm glad I saw this clip.
I bought this in the last couple of weeks, received before wider release. Within a few days I sold it for double what I paid. I managed to achieve pretty much the same scent by layering Missoni Pour Homme with Faconnable Riviera. Riviera itself isn't far off it, but the Missoni provided the musk to take this layering close to L'Elixir. And to be honest it was actually more enjoyable, stronger and longer lasting.
I am wearing Y edt and edp since was introduced and coldn't expected that the Elixir smells differently to any other edition of the Y family. Maybe Ash expected that Y Elixir smells like Dior Savage Elixir: smells way different than the edt or edp ( specially when the opening notes are a mix of abnoxious scents from the 90's). It is very pricey, I agree. But, is very common in elixirs, when you smell 3-4 hours after spray, the scent become very different. Y, Savage, Ralph's Club, Guilty, Boss, and Le Male elixirs are way better on the skin 2-3 hours after sprayed. For this reason, I think this video was misleading: "Ash just judged the book by the it cover".
he said he wore it everyday for 4 days before making the video, so his complaint about its performance and similarities to the others in the line are valid
I'm so glad that I watched this. Our tastes are so similar that when you say it's not worth it, it's not worth it. Kind of a letdown. Others are hyping it up, but they must be getting something for it. I have all the others so if it's redundant I'll save the money.
Is Ash in the opening trying to say that the perfume industry keeps on pooping out Elixirs? Maybe he's trying to say that L'Elixir is 💩! Could be both. I waited on this review. Glad I did. Thanks for being honest Ash.
Dunking on YSL in full effect & I'm here for it. Smelled it on Sunday at Bloomingdale's & immediately felt like I was smelling Y EDP & Y Le Parfum mixed but weaker. And I will say the smell for me stayed for a while but it's extremely soft after an hour.
Finally Ash, I have this feeling of "like I bought it myself"🤣🤣. On my lunch break today, I was thinking, well, when will Ash buy it and show it to us. I'm rooting for you, friend🤗💯🏆
Savage Elixir is an absolute stunner for me and I would gladly pay that price because you get the performance that comes with it. Out of all these elixirs I don't think I've came across one that I have tested that has competed. Curious about the La Male e Elixir tho.
The problem here is that Ash expected something totally different from the Y line and I don't know why. It's a Y line. Yes, it's similar to the others in the Y line, lol. It's Y EDP with reduced sweetness from the apple and added twist and depth with the oud. Really great release if you ask me. On me, it lasts 10+ hours with beast projection, not sure what he talks about with the weak performance, it's the strongest from the whole line.

I’m wearing YSL L’homme more than anything and I’m wearing, just as another example, Valentino Uomo more than anything else in the line. The originals of things just tend to me the most wearable in the most situations I have a 5 ounce of the original Oomomo, and I have a 200 mil of the YSL L’homme. We’ll never get old.
Great review. Price-wise ought to be compared also with Gucci Elixir. I think Dior Elixir and Gucci Elixir are also in fact in a similar quality tier, basically the best two elixirs currently on the market imho. Followed by Boss Elixir, and then JPG Le Male Elixir. Must smell it, but given how I find the Y EDP smell itself (just an ok, not even a like) I think Y Elixir will be waaaaay behind most other elixirs on the market for me.
Hmm thanks for that I will go for YSL Y LE PARFUM. I love the way it smells. Looks like the creativity from the Y line isn't there anymore 😔. Now the Sauvage Elixir I wore yesterday was and will always be incredible.

I completely agree with your assessment. I went to Macy’s yesterday (prior to seeing your review) to sniff Y Elixir and was utterly disappointed. Save your money, folks.
I’m glad I’m not alone. I purchased it from Macy’s, wore it twice and returned it. Performance is terrible too. I didn’t hate the smell, but with bad performance just overall not being unique, it’s nowhere near worth $180.
You'd think ... if they wanted the easy route out to making an exlier ... you'd just make it super concentrated/ last longer etc? But that cost is insane for getting essentially a non remarkable blue fragrance
Agree. I’ve been trying to buy it since June last year and couldn’t find it. They popped up again so I bought 3 bottles of YSL y eau fraiche and YSL y live. Both are discontinued so it’s only a matter of time before they’re all gone.
I'm a HUGE fan of YSL...and particularly the Y line. I have the edt (2) the edp and l'Parfum (my favorite) as well as the au fraich. This is disappointing. Almost as disappointing as the MYself, which doesn't really project well. Might as well restock on the l'parfum version...oh well😢
Did i miss a price increase on sauvage elixir? I couldve sworn when i picked mine up it was $165 for the 60ml, this is pretty much right at the beginning when it was released

for me the best elixir release after dior sauvage elixir is gucci guilty elixir
I have Gucci Guilty Elixir. I haven't opened it yet.
I got one of those trial-size bottles of Dior's.
I really like Boss Bottled Elixir.
@@JohmathanBSwift i liked that one as well,
Did i miss a price increase on sauvage elixir? I couldve sworn when i picked mine up it was $165 for the 60ml, this is pretty much right at the beginning when it was released
Smelled it yesterday at macys. Smells great but for 180 I think it’s too much. Discounters will get it soon and I’ll pick it up then.
