    ⚠ Waterpik has updated the Advanced in most regions of the world. Version 2.0. The main differences are:
    - The new version has a USB type A connector at the other end of the magnetic charging cable, rather than a 2 pin power adapter.
    - The new version uses a Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) rather than a Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery.
    - Claimed battery life increases from 1 to 4 weeks with charging times doubling from 4 to 2 weeks.

      A company of crooks. We bought two devices, one from Amazon USA and the other from Amazon Germany. Both arrived not working. Dead. A lot of money. I contacted the company, provided the representative with all the documents and photographs she required and they refused to replace the broken devices. I will note that formally the devices have a warranty of 3 years. But in practice there is no guarantee of one day. Don't believe the ads!

    I have had this product for a few weeks now and I have to say I’m pretty impressed with it. I previously had a plug in oral irrigator and found it cumbersome and I hardly ever used it. The Waterpik advanced is very handy just to pick up fill, and off you go. It is grippy so you’ll never drop it. You can select the pressure before switching it on and it is shower proof. The magnetic charger is a revelation, makes charging it so much easier than a fiddly little plug. On the negative side, I find the reservoir empties very quickly in high mode, and for the price I think it should come with a 3 pin plug adapter in the box. Highly recommended...

    Also worth mentioning about cordless is some people have a standalone sink and no countertop. This is an advantage there.

    Possible Fix - I was disappointed in the size of the reservoir. I believe I found an alternative. Get a big plastic cup and fill it with water. Leave off the reservoir and insert the intake into the cup. If your on fast your going to get low. Simply tilt the glass so the intake is still in the water. Tried it this morning and it worked like a charm. No refills or stopping.

    • @mrjack2617
      @mrjack2617 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But you are submerging the charging port in the water as well right? How will you charge it when you are done?

    • @Hotsparks66

      @@mrjack2617 I just insert the water intake hose into the cup. However not that it matters, but mine it rated Waterproof (water resistant) anyway. There is no charge contacts, you just put the charger on the magnetic front of the toothbrush to charge.

    A con that was not mentioned is the small size of the Waterpik’s water container. The Bestok water flosser has a much larger container and is priced at only $30. I have tried it and I find it fully as good as the Waterpik, except that it is practically impossible to pull off the water container of the Bestok, to clean it, unless you are a big-muscled man. The Waterpik has a sensible little latch to pull back and the container then pulls off easily. And the Bestok has a clever design that lets you use the brush upside down and still have water siphon through. Whether the Bestok will last as long is questionable though. They do not sell an extended warrantee.

    I believe that I caused a gum abscess from flossing vigorously in some deep pockets. The endodontist said that was not likely. I am diligent with brushing, flossing, and my dental visits. Needless to say, I was shocked when I was told I needed one or possibly two teeth extracted. It does not make sense. The abscess is slowly getting better so I want to wait before getting my teeth pulled. I am not flossing anymore. Your thoughts.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ruby. We can't really comment on the cause of this. There could be multiple reasons. One would like to trust the endodontist opinion given they have made a physical examination of the area.

    Would you choose cordless or not? I'm just not sure how much cordless is an advantage when taking into account higher price and usually smaller water volume.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It really depends on your lifestyle & personal circumstances. If you don't have a power outlet in your bathroom, you might go cordless. If you travel a lot., then going cordless might be beneficial. Some like the idea of water flossing in the shower, so cordless is better. Cordless don't have to be more expensive, but admittedly, some models do command a slight premium.

      @@ElectricTeeth Thank you for your reply. I watched some other videos you posted and did some additional research and decided that cordless is not for me. Main reason - water tank size. It just doesn't look big enough to ensure comfortable cleaning without the need to refill it. Additionally, most of them seem bulky and uncomfortable to hold compared to corded. On your recommendation decided to buy Waterpik WP-660. Thank you!

    I’ve been using it for one month almost and not happy with it, the battery is the main weakness, it discharges quite fast and take too long to charge, is not a lithium battery either believe it or not, and the container leaks water when it sits on the counter.
    It cleans your mouth very well but it doesn’t justify its flaws. I’ll go with Philips sonicare 3000 I think is the best alternative and a much better option.

    Update: Waterpik USA reached out to me and sent me their ION Professional Cordless Water Flosser completely free of charge as a replacement for my failed items.
    Both of my Waterpik W-562's have failed batteries. I believe it is a design flaw. The first within 9 months and the second within one month. On both occasions, I noticed the handle was hotter than usual after charging, subsequently the charging light would not illuminate and the unit would not turn on. Unfortunately I purchased the first Watepik from Amazon UAE and cannot get an answer from Waterpik Mexico as to getting it repaired as I am no longer in the UAE. Customer support is terrible. The second, I will be returning to Amazon as it is still returnable. I also have an older plug-in waterpik that has not failed yet but the pressure is poor. I hope to find a suitable replacement other than the W-562.

      @mexmex4611 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mickyc4479 I never really had the need for a rechargeable Waterpik, just wanted the smaller footprint. I have since opted for the rather noisy but more reliable mains operated Aquarius Pro WP-660 model, which is still going after 10 months. I'll never buy another rechargeable Waterpik regardless of the battery type. I took apart my failed ION Waterpik, the charging circuit traces on the PCB were covered in verdigris, with no sign of water ingress. The same thing happened to the replacement they sent me, so poor design on the PCB layout resulting in burnt out charging circuit. Also, the magnetic external connector started to push back into the casing, which was another design fault. I wrote to them about it but never heard back.

Used it today for the first time. The flimsy plastic latch on the reservoir is hard to open and close. The water drains out before I can get it reassembled. Generally speaking, floss or interdental brushes are the best to use, instead of a water flosser. But, a water flosser is a good option if you struggle to get in a habit of cleaning between the teeth and will do it more regularly.
      There is a need for more clinical study to really confirm if one is better than the other. Many dentists beleive the physical contact floss and brushes give is better.
      The classic jet tip is what most need, but it can depend on your personal circumstances. If you have periodontal pockets or implants for example, other tips can be more useful.
      If you are looking a the pik-pocket, I am assuming you have periodontal pockets. I am not sure on your location, but some buy links are available on the Waterpik website. www.waterpik.com/oral-health/tips-accessories/PP-100E/

    Jon, perhaps I am using this unit wrong, but flossing at the slow pace the gentleman shown is means you are refilling it more than you are using it. Therefore, it seems to me that an unmentioned "con" is the volume of the reservoir.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I often slow things down in the video to help demonstrate a point. Please don't take the footage to be an exact representation of time etc.
      Arguably yes the size of the reservoir is a con. But a bigger one, makes the unit heavier which can be a con too. 🤷‍♂️
      Ideally, most will need/want a refill. If you are using this as an additional tool to regular flossing or interdental brushing then 1 fill of the tank can be enough. I am afraid some of it is personal preference and not all will agree with my prs and cons. 😀

    Electric Teeth does a countertop water flosser remove more plaque than a cordless waterflosser.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a general rule no a countertop doesn't remove more plaque than a cordless. However, a slight catch is that a fair amount of the clinical evidence for a water flosser is based on having used countertop rather than cordless units.
      For example Sonicare's new range of power flossers have evidence to suggest that they are up to a 180% more effective in improving gum health compared to string floss. But this claim is based on using a countertop model rather than their cordless version. Yet, as far as I am aware a test was conducted with both countertop and cordless Sonicare power flossers that confirms they can remove up to 99.9% of plaque from treated areas.

      @@ElectricTeeth I wish I had seen your review sooner (though the Advanced looks chunkier and heavier than the Pearl that I've ordered, and I have rather small hands). In addition, I don''t favor Amazon for a number of reasons, and Waterpik itself then turned out to be the only other place where I could order any Watrpik flosser, though I live in New York City! I'm hoping that the Pearl won't be too thick and heavy. I suspect that having a smaller-capacity water tank and other features, it may be a better bet for my smaller hands. I hope so, because Waterpik's price was higher than I would have had to pay at Target or some other store, for example, but none had the Pearl or the Advanced, anyway. I wasn't unhappy using string floss, but my dentist wanted me to use a water flosser, yet I've read that floss is best? Having three intensities and voltage I could use in the UK (I'm there quite frequently) would have been a plus, too, but what can I do? I hope I haven't made a foolish decision, but even the Pearl looks big.

      @@ElectricTeeth I'm disappointed, Jon, because the Pearl appears to be the one from Waterpik that is a reasonable size for my smaller hands, Waterpik has it (other stores in my area, including online, seem not to carry Waterpiks) and seems suitable in other ways. I know you wrote, a week ago, that you probably won't review the Pearl, but maybe you can answer a different kind of question? It's about using a flosser like the Pearl - which is not meant for UK voltage - in the UK. I can charge my Mac laptop there with an adapter, and can then charge my phone from the Mac with a USB cable attached to it. Could I do the same thing with the water flosser and ITS cable? Or would I be able to use a converter and plug the flosser in then? I asked the question online at Waterpik and was told that 1) the flosser could be used in the UK with an adapter like the one i use for my computer, or 2) that I could use the flosser with a concerter, or 3) that I couldn't use it in the UK, at all. I'm totally confused! I may just have to buy a separate flosser in London and leave it at my family's house or go back to string floss when I'm there.
      If you have suggestions, I shall welcome them; if not, thank you, anyway, for your patience and wisdom. 💐
