A tip as a first responder… always park with the winds hitting your back window . Because you can always put plastic on your rear window, but you can’t drive with plastic on your windshield.! I know it’s scary having it come from behind, but it is easier in the event that something does hit your car and break the window👍🏻 and I did not sleep for a series of almost 2 weeks when we had the back to back hurricanes that just passed over you and us and Florida, Milton, and Helene! Always keep the coffee in your van during hurricane and tornado season so you could stay awake😊
I agree. But having been in high winds in a Van you can get pushed around that way. Because vans present a flat wall. So similar to being parked sideways. While the front is more aerodynamic and allows the wind to slide up and over.. And with the car seats and ( though flimsy)snd curtains if her safety glass fails to do its job she has a little more protection from debris being further away . I’m not sure if back windows are made of a strong safety glass like her windshield.
Saying this in my Mom voice…when we have a hurricane we don’t sleep in pajamas just in case we have damage to the house and have to rush outside for some reason. We also keep shoes close by.
ALSO, when I am sleeping in my van at shows, my "pajamas" are something like sweat pants and a T-shirt or sweatshirt - 😊 - something that can be worn in public, especially during the day.
I can’t imagine the cops bothering you in the middle of a Storm. And if you suddenly have to run to the Cracker Barrel I’d personally would stay dressed. I’m so glad that you have people to watch out for you. And that that manager was so kind to you and understanding.
By the time that I changed it into my pajamas, it was close to them closing. There was a gas station that was right across from me that I knew I could go into if I had to.
😮 Oh 🐰…I know that terror very well. I rode out both Hurricane Helene & Milton in my 🚐. Both those storms spawned DAY & NIGHT TORNADOES. Some blew through the parking lots and seeing damage around me especially in the DARK! Was nerve racking to say the least . Because it’s a southern girl, you know they only come in the middle of the night!😮😮 Kisses 😘 and hugs from a fellow southerner 🙋🏼♀️🚐🌴
Live in Kansas and have been In multiple tornado’s. Lightning is actually a great way to see what’s going on during a tornado warning. It gives you the opportunity to see if anything has dropped in that direction. Better to know what’s heading your way then be surprised.
I’m super glad that everything turned out. OK. It was a little sketchy for a little while, but whenever it started to move past, I could hear the calming energy of the air, not being thick. It’s weird that you could hear it but it’s definitely a pressure thing.
I’m glad you are staying on top of the weather and paying attention. I have been glued to the news about the California wildfires for what seems to be weeks now. Days are long and stressful and so many people now have lost everything. Please keep being proactive.
Absolutely I think it’s super important. Also, I’m super sorry to hear about the stresses that are being caused by the California wildfires. I know that that is terrible and I have several people who I know who personally been affected as well. I hope that you are safe.
Glad you're safe. I live in Florida and take my van west a few times a year. I'm always timing my crossing of Dixie Alley and Tornado Alley to avoid storm systems, but I've been in your situation where there's no avoiding it. I always remind myself that 80% of tornados move from southwest to northeast. That knowledge has kept me safe and calm more than once. Thanks for sharing and stay safe!
Not fun… I do not enjoy storms of any kind in the van. However, this one is more nervous or something about being an impossible position at the same time somehow it is comforting to talk to even if they aren’t there so I did a lot of that.
A few years ago we were heading home to Lubbock from south of Fort Worth. We got a text from my brother telling us no to come home because they were having a sandstorm like he’d never seen in the 60 years he lived there. We got to Sweetwater and started feeling the wind and noticed semis pulling into store parking lot. A couple other RVs pulled off as well. We pulled in between two semis which cut down on the RV shaking. We didn’t get the dust, but the wind kept up til 3:00am. We saw the photos of the haboob the next day and were so glad we stopped. Those winds were blowing trucks off the road.
You poor thing. I just went thru Hurricane Ian. $200,000 worth of damage to my stix & brix. Want to get on the road soon for the first time..Also, went thru Helene & Milton. It is very scary….
Love your channel on TH-cam video please 🙏 be safe on the road when you're driving is it bad storm everywhere the backfire on California. Restart a bad day in January 2025. I see your video on TH-cam channel 😊😊😊😊😊
Yes, I’m always trying to be very careful. There was just no way around this particular situation unfortunately so I knew it was not going to be pleasant and I couldn’t return to my friends home unfortunately so I just had to kind of figure it out which is part of being on the road safety always.
Glad you were ok in the storm.

This is scary I am glad you are safe now because you posted this.
That had me stressed out for you. 😮 But glad it ended up ok and no harm to you or your home.

@@BunnyPlaysHereGlad when all was said and done that you AND your van were/are safe 🙂
Yup. Scary 💩 Glad you made it through without incident!
I would personally ask to park in a hotel parking lot so you have somewhere to evac too if there is a Nader. Idk if that would’ve been an option.

So glad you are alright. awaiting dimple reports. I grew up with tornadoes and it never gets any easier or less scarier.
I understand there's no basement in a van, but there is and attic? LOL. Live Out Loud!😊
I guess the roof box is kind of like an attic lol
Glad you are safe now. We were in a similar situation in our RV and the RV was at a state park. We ended up okay but some branches fell around us.
Oh my god I would be freaking out. I mean what do you do in this case other than pray.
Watch the weather be aware that’s all you can do at this point

I can tell you are stressed. Your voice sounds very stressed.
It certainly was a stressful time for me, thanks for noticing. The goal is just to keep a clear mind and stay informed
