As I listen to Mrs Emmy Lou sing here my Heart melts with joy as it has for the past 50 years or So..She has Always been my favorite Singer from the first time I had heard her voice and unfortunately was Never able to experience seeing her sing in person .the Sound of her Angelic Voice and amazing talent has Always been in my Spirit and soul ❤️ and most likely will never get the chance to she has shown me that if ever I get to Heaven I will hear the closest thing to an Angel sing as they shurly will Sound like Her ❤
Her concept LP " The Ballad Of Sally Rose " was truly remarkable ! So was Evangeline and thirteen was lucky enough to make my purchases before they were shelved. She is the best in all genre's 👍👌💯 .
OMG. I totally remember when this episode aired in 1985. It was this video and this song (Sweetheart Of The Rodeo) that started my crush on Emmylou Harris, even though I wasn't even quite old enough to drive yet. LOL
The Ballad of Sally Rose, the album Emmylou penned unlike most of her work. Every song on this album is incredible. She quickly stopped performing these songs and I regret that, it's her crown jewel album.
Just this past December/November 2021 I found the Ballad of Sally Rose at my local thrift store. Other than hearing her sing harmony in a John Denver song, I had never heard her before. It did take long for me to consider her a favorite... and sing along to the whole disc!
Truly the reigning elder stateswoman of Country Music. Her music just keeps getting better and better as time passes. She sings with such feeling and passion in every note,
Grenat memories of my young 14 years old times at discovering country music on my american ballads' tape ... 32 years ago Thanks for posting this To my French old ears .... it's been that time I didn't heard Emmylou Harris with her cristal voice. God bless you
Emmy Lou is outstanding in diamond in my crown; but also, we must give some of the credit on that song to Kennedy Rose, for their outstanding back up vocals, and they did most of the guitar playing; I was fortunate to have seen that original broadcast on Austin city limits in the 80s
I saw her perform the Ballad of Sally Rose live at the Moon Shadow Saloon in Atlanta back when the album came out. Just loved it. Sat about 10 feet from the stage. Her voice goes right through you. Thanks for posting.
this was the terrific"woman songwriters special' on Austin City Limits , with Emmylou, Lacy, Rosanne, Gail and Kennedy/Rose. Here , Ms. Harris interprets two classics,,,
P.s. I know it's been a long often Hard journey and I hear she has found things that now has I hope has made her Happy...but I Hope the Angel Truly knows how Much she has impacted and inspired generations...for she Touched many people's life's and Hearts 💕 For 50+ years she most definitely has Mine..❤
@hondo6387 - Yes, that was a beautiful show that I'll never forget. Diamond In My Crown left us stunned. Moonshadow was such a great place to hear music, and sometimes they had a dance floor...a few weeks before Emmy played, Rodney Crowell and a very young Vince Gill were there, another fine show.
I remember watching this show when it first aired. I would like to see the parts where Gail Davies was singing, especially the song "Never Cross That Line". Would be great if you could put that up if you have access to the entire show. Thanks!

There is no voice that compares to hers. So mournful and forlorn with such feeling and emotion in every note. She is one of my favorite singers.
She has a very distinctive voice with a purity not matched by any other female singer. A true gem!

The greatest female vocalist of all time in any genre.
You think there is a greater male vocalist? I don't.
Always and forever Emmy Lou.I'm 71 and I've loved you since '73.

The sweetest voice in our time. She needs to put more songs out.

where can I get this entire video, I remember this back in 1985 and have been looking for it
Maybe Simon Cowell should take a look at this to understand what X factor really means.
Too bad we can't see the whole show
Country music has had many great female vocalists. However, all of them pale in comparison to Emmylou.
Man, 80's style was terrible
