    Can't understand why this isn't widely considered as a classic, know it's not completely unpopular either but I think it's probably one of the greatest rock songs of 90's if not of all time.
    It's definitive of an overlooked tune.

    • @MarcoNegrisEye
      @MarcoNegrisEye ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It's not all about Richey you know? If you think it's an "absolutely beautiful song" then that's thanks to JDB not Richey. For without JDB, Richey and Nicky's words would very likely never seen the light of day or ended up as some obscure poetry hidden in dusty books of a local library.

    • @manic_street_starlover
      @manic_street_starlover ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @MarcoNegrisEye exactly! And this song wasn't just richey. Nicky wrote the song too. Its a common misconception for people who are uneducated about the manics that richey wrote all the songs before he disappeared. Pisses me off that Nicky doesn't get the recognition he deserves.

    • @MarcoNegrisEye
      @MarcoNegrisEye ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@manic_street_starlover if the roles were reversed and Nicky was the missing person it would likely be him to get the acclaim. Richey was immense to the Manics and we all miss him but there definitely is a myth that EVERYTHING about the early Manics revolved around Richey.

    • @manic_street_starlover
      @manic_street_starlover ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @MarcoNegrisEye yes exactly, like in the proper early manics time, Richey was only a roadie (ik that they were called Betty blue when they had flicker but still) and richey wasn't even featured on suicide alley, including the lyrics. That was all nicky, yet you'd still get some idiot who thinks richey wrote it.

      When I first heard those lyrics, many many years ago, I thought to myself 'That's word perfect, that's true to life and growing up.'
      I had felt those feelings but without words. To hear the Manics describe feelings I had experienced and would have probably forgotten had they not delivered them with such a poetic punch was so amazing.
      A bit like the "There's nothing nice in my head, the adult world took it all away" line from 'From Despair To Where'.
      So damn accurate.

    While I am particularly verbose compared to the average human and can convey my feelings with relative ease I simply can Not relate, in words, how much I love this song. The range of textures and tumultuous emotions make me feel vulnerable, then empowered, then Open, then exhausted every time. It's like having bipolar and breaking up with yourself. It's a necessary agony.

      He wasn't the leadsinger, he was the lyricist and ''chief propagandist'' (he controlled the image of the band). He was given the title of rhythm guitarists because he went on stage wearing one, but it's rumored that he didn't play a note.
