According to Infiniti, the newest QX80, the Patrol's opulent sibling, will now have a brand-new 3.5-liter twin-turbo petrol V6 engine instead of the present 5.6-liter normally aspirated V8.
With a power output of 335kW, the new model significantly outperforms the present Patrol V8 by 37kW. Furthermore, the torque has increased by 138 Nm, reaching 698 Nm. It has an extra 108kW of power compared to the LandCruiser 300 twin-turbo diesel, although it is just 2Nm shorter. However, the Lexus LX600 twin-turbo V6 produces 30 kW less power and 50 Nm less torque.
The existing seven-speed torque-converter automatic will be swapped out for an updated nine-speed model. The new transmission's larger gear ratio will improve fuel economy and acceleration, leading to more responsive performance.
The 3.0-liter twin-turbo 'VR30DDT' engine featured in the Nissan Z sports car is updated to a 3.5-liter twin-turbo engine, as indicated by the codename 'VR35DDT'.
New technologies including air suspension with adjustable dampers, which increases torsional rigidity and makes the cabin considerably quieter, are now available on the Infiniti.
The future Infiniti QX80 will give us a close-up look at the 'Y63' Nissan Patrol, which is expected to arrive in Australia by 2025. The Infiniti QX Monograph concept was teased in mid-2023.
There will be some design similarities between the two vehicles. But according to the spy photos, the QX80 will have smaller headlights and concealed handles, while the Patrol will have conventional door handles and larger headlights.
A production-ready Patrol prototype that was displayed to US dealers looked a lot like the Range Rover, but it had new headlights and taillights and a more rugged appearance. Additionally, the inside has been totally renovated and features a modernized design.
Just before the New York Auto Show, on March 21 Australian time, the 2025 Infiniti QX80 is scheduled to make its debut. In the upcoming months, the 2025 Nissan Patrol will also be unveiled.
