Why cut when you can increase your passive income?

Is it just the 9% , truly the market was overjoyed each time there is such an increase because the government did it once but the market did it two or more times on the announcement and execution of the increase. Who mercy are we at? Eventually we blamed fully the gst increase as the reason for the increase of the cost of living. What an ironically. Keeping pushing and we will all fall together, one party is not concerned in some aspects while the others beg for mercy. Especially, now that we have a large numbers of foreigners who cannot and mostly not feel the same as the local on all these impacts and sufferings. They are very mobile and already proven so but not the local, their mobility is yet to be tested and assured. Want to local for all generations then behave with "kampong spirit" what we survived in the olden days.

Gov better take some action on unreasonable hawkers that charges for things or food for more than 9 % increase... even customers with proves on stalls that charges food unreasonably still cannot take action? Should suspend those stalls for few days like the NEA...when found stalls lack of hygiene... some cases like charges extra chilli or even extra plates for use also need to be deal with ...these are matters that boils up or stress consumers

Good, need to cut down. The auntie food cost up would be partly covered by SG vouchers to square.

I hope having a PM that is not born with a silver spoon he can empathise better and take concrete measures ( addressing cost of living , increasing local employment) to address instead of just small handouts here and there that can barely cover the real increase.

One side of the story. My wife and I are retirees and do not enjoy the assistance given to the poor. I hated the stupid means testing method initiated by Ex-minster. His method is too simplistic. Just get total family income and then divide by the number of people in the household. If my single child is getting a good salary and that doesn't translate, he will give parents a x amount of money. He needs to save money for future plans like a marriage and buy a resale hdb flat, which is damn expensive etc.

There are families who are struggling even with an increased salary. And the costs of living have risen by some 20%. You are probably a single

@MKirinuRigold So you expect the Govt to pay for everything that you buy? Everyone have to work to survive. Nothing is for free.

Underachievers are those that don't take education or work seriously and end up with low-paying jobs. They have only themselves to blame.😂😂

Totally agree. No substance and still multiply themselves senselessly and recklessly. Don't know how to behave themselves, yet blame the whole world except themselves.

yea its somewhat true. But let me stand on neutral ground to be fair. Personally for my household, we earn above median household income and i am blessed to have more than enough. So no issue with the rise of goods and stuff as it is still within our reach and we for sure have leftover monies for investment/savings.
However those low income group, not all are given opportunities to further upgrade themselves. Everyone has a different lifestyle, culture and upbringing. Some really do not have all these opportunities going for them. So yes i dont like those who are capable but chose to be lazy and not help themselves, but there are some do not have a choice to begin with. The govt i believe does help the lower income group but its hard to actually pin point who are the mere lazy ones apart from the genuine ones who need help.
