Hey how did you view this? I have this microscope and would like to see this - did you use a slide and how much did you put on? Tried it earlier but think I might need to light it from below to see anything, but not sure how best to set that up

I used a slide and (flash)light from about two feet below at about a 45 degree angle. The lighting and holding the camera on the mm-300 was tricky. The new version of that microscope has a clip for a phone camera.

can you also see the protists in a drop of water with this microscope?

195dm The head of sperm is about 5um, and it's a rare protozoan that isn't a lot bigger than that, so I'd say yes. Haven't tried it.

That's the same microscope I have. It's a shame you can't really see their structure though.

+Chriscom28 You sort of can: by eye, with the right lighting of the slide (bottom lit from 45 degrees or so), under a cover slip or viewing a thin layer. That microscope is particularly bad at working with a phone or any cameras I've tried, though. Not sure why. Narrow viewing aperture?

Will maybe try this with a pyrex bowl then. I've given up trying to view it with my phone camera. It probably is due to the narroe aperture. I've had glimces through my phone only to lose it again.

+Chriscom28 The lighting is the key, any decently bright (>50lm) flashlight, from below and to the side. A magnifying glass, spare pair of readers, bit of packaging plastic, or any thin clear glass might work better than a bowl.

Placing the bowl on a large flash light seemed to make a better image. Too bad I wasted the sample and had to try and salvage it.
It also seemed like it was capturing images of my eye. I would see more floaters and occasionally see what seemed like a second image over the specimin image.
Too bad I didn't think about the flash light earlier. May have seen some activity.
