For me the Wallace & Gromit collection on 4K is super disappointing. It’s missing Curse of the WereRabbit and the new film on 4K. It has no HDR and worse of all it’s a 2K upscale from the last Blu Ray release with some AI upgrades which especially in the last short really makes it look off
yep. waste of $120.
I watched the new film with my family yesterday and afterwards, I showed my daughter The Wrong Trousers. I thought it looked great! I'm sure Curse of the Were-Rabbit will come out at some point in the future, but no complaints from me about the Wallace & Gromit set. I'm in the UK and have the BBC set, if that makes a difference.
@ It’s the same transfer, I also have the UK BBC set. It’s really the 4th short A Matter of Loaf and Death that suffers from the AI upscaling the first 3 look good. It’s just a shame that no HDR was included as that would have bumped them up from good to great
The price is the worst thing. If it was $19.99, no one would bat an eye on those A.I.stuff.
@@TheLoneJedi-77 Damn, I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger, and stuck with the bluray...
The Atmos track of 1996’s Twister is not only one of the best catalog releases of the year, but is also just one of the best Atmos tracks of the year period. Leaves 2024’s Twisters in the dust!
yeah, Twister should have been on his best of 2024 list, not to mention the gorgeous UK steelbook boxset
I need to get it. The bluray isn't great
The reason that the domestic release of Terrifier 3 doesn’t have Dolby Vision, and HDR10? Easy - they plan on taking advantage of collectors, and reissuing the film later on with those two things being new features. I see it more, and more and I absolutely detest this practice.
💯%
The only disgraceful practice they’ve seemingly slowed down on (thank God) is the whole, “let’s release the Blu-ray first, and wait 6+ months later before releasing the 4K” for new releases.
The excuse had always been that it’s “to gauge interest”-but of course, the self-cannibalistic nature of it all means if we skip over a blu ray release of a new film and wait for the inevitable 4K, then the blu ray sells less, and then the clueless suits may see that as, “lack of interest *in the film itself*” rather than what it really is: “a lack of interest in being forcibly double-dipped.”
But again, thankfully, that practice has appeared to die off a bit lately… here’s hoping it stays dead/doesn’t zombify on us😅🤞
@ Exactly! I never bought into the “we want to gauge interest in the film” excuse. How does that make any sense? Who’s going to buy the 4K, after most everyone bought the bluray? It’s one of the more underhanded way of increasing sales, by banking on
a form of FOMO. It also made no sense, because I began passing on the bluray release, because I knew there would be a 4K down the road. You’re absolutely right in the fact that it’s slowing down, and wise on their end, as it was causing me to be resentful of certain studios.
Thanks for the heads up on “Terrifier 3!”
Twisters sound is the biggest disappointment for me!!!!!!
Absolutely agree with the comments regarding Twisters. It just didn’t have the “boom” factor that it should’ve had. The sound guy should’ve gone nuts with this mix.
or a testament to how good the original is...
Indeed "Far and away" is a disappointing transfer when you consider it was partially shot on VistaVision and panavision super 70 elements should have been stunning on 4K.
Far and away was a disappointment for sure. Didn’t expect it to get a 4k to begin with so was super excited to see it announced. The inconsistency is crazy.
James Cameron has spent too much time staring at blue aliens to remember what people look like.
But the blue aliens look really dope.
Couldn´t agree more. TWISTERS was such a dissapointment considering the audio. I could watch that movie after midnight without disturbing the neighbours. But I wouldn´t because it was just as dissapointing in general. 0 memorable scenes unlike the original. Which was (and perhaps still is) a sound reference track back in the day.
To be honest, Twister didn't need a sequel. Twister was just perfect as a standalone movie.
@slimdude2011 Totally agree. But at least gives us memorable scenes and a great audiotrack. They couldn't even deliver that with TWISTERS. Seen and forgotten.
Agreed on Twisters. It seems that it got the same audio treatment similar to Disney's "Atmouse" mixes with low volume and weak dynamic presence. Bass is there, but for a film like this, it should be rocking the foundation. Instead, it seems to be mixed more for the soundbar generation.
Far And Away, I was quite pleased. The picture was fine for a film of this age, similar to the recently released Legends of the Fall 4K. Very clean with nice HDR. John Williams' score for the film in Atmos is a welcomed delight. Definitely not a disappointment.
Honestly, I was a little disappointed with Demolition Man, mostly for the lack of plentiful extra features. Picture and audio was fine, but I was hoping for deleted scenes, behind the scenes footage, etc.
The film was trash to begin with, in my opinion.
Modern audio mixing is awful so it’s no surprise they can’t match the original witch had top of the line sound mixers pushing the systems. If y’all think the modern discs sound good check out the original laserdisc with cd quality stereo digital audio and Dolby Digital 5.1 that blows even modern mixes from Nolan out the window
I agree with you regarding Twisters. Sound, and especially picture felt disappointing to me. Corridor Crew nailed what bothered me about it, and that was the darkness and that the editor wouldn't stay with the shot! I know they were trying to be "realistic", but compared to the picture and sound of the original, it pales in comparison.
Dolby atmos sound is not the end all be all for older movies I have movies in dts hd that sound incredible
I saw true lies on stream and as the movie kept going it kept getting more waxy and smooth which is shocking!
Yes but if you get som info it is the way the film got recorde they made the film ass good as the could they could not make it better in 4k if they did not do it that way the movie whas not possible to whats
So what do you like a impossible movie to whatch ore a movie to whatch i like a movie to whatch over a movie impossible to whatch
With True Lies I kept my DVD and did find the Ai was overdone .
They shouldn't have to use AI at all. Just do a new 4-6k scan of the negative instead upscaling a 2k blu ray.
My biggest disappointment was definitely the 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers 4K. It had to have been sourced from elements at least two generations away from camera negative, if not more. I haven't done a direct comparison yet, but I think the Olive Films blu ray looked better.
Truth is a lot of Arrow 4k restorations don’t actually look good. Wish reviewers didn’t do deals with them and recommend them.
Twisters audio sucked in theaters too. Not interesting in getting
It was a great opening on imax (and the rodeo). The 4K was a step down though
I would have liked HDR for Cowboys and Aliens on 4k but I wasn't disappointed at all. Of course I was upgrading from DVD so it was significant bump in quality.
I was disappointed about the special features for Blazing Saddles 4k release, there was a TV pilot on the DVD missing on the 4k release, but it wasn't a deal breaker.
I love everything about True Lies on 4K. We should be grateful that it's finally out, and not complain cause we won't be getting any better copy of it.
Much like comedies, I don’t feel many dramas should be getting any 4K releases, I had absolutely no interest in purchasing Little Women or Far & Away. Comedies can get away with it because at least I’m more interested in having those in my collection. I agree about Twisters because the audio was very weak compared to the original Twister. I remember in theaters not even the theater walls shook. I remember watching Twister 28 years ago in theaters and the sound was amazing and the theater shakes and I believe even blew out some of the systems in theaters lol. I don’t agree with the hate on True Lies and just glad we finally got it on 4K because that DVD was much worse.
I will give you a great word for the future by just adding a "C" -> Dis(c)appointment.
Anyway, as a trained video producer I will not understand the whole 4K shannanigans in any way. Let's be clear about a few things:
4K is hight x length - notihng else
HDR is moping around with contrast and saturation - it's not even true HDR, they just use the term
So in conclusion these things by no means say a picture looks better or worse.
4k scans have a huge benefit when it comes to restoring a picture. 4K release not so much, since you as a person can not see the difference of the resolution.
4K DOES come in handy for huge TVs. If you own anything up to a 60inch TV 4K is total nonesense.
Any movie with extensive CGI like Disney stuff is not produced in 4K so any 4K release is just an upscaled version.
Just to point out a few things.
Anyway, just recently I saw a comparison video about the "Demolition Man" DVD vs Warner Bluray vs Arrow 4K.
I can not express my surprise when I saw what was going on and instantly regretted selling my DVD. Yes, I most likely get my DVD back. Why.
Well, the DVD had the most beautiful picture. NO, I'm not talking about TECHNICAL precision. I am talking about an atmospheric, beaustiful picture.
And both Blurays of this movie looked like they were lit with 10.000Watt Halogen lamps. Bright, white light on everyone and everything and that is not pretty.
But Hel yeah, you could see everything. Dumb rubble lying around in the street, like that's important for the movie and ect.
The whole things gets even worse with animated movies as the 4K scans totally reveal the cell animation and destroy the illusion.
I thought I was on crazy pills with my assesment of "Twisters" and its audio. I was expecting an audio presentation more like the original, but it felt lacking, to the point I even turned up the volume just to try and get to the same levels of amplitude with the Atmos on the original, and never fully got there. It sounds fine, but for a movie like it, I did expect more oomph, for lack of a better term. Not as great as many are saying it is.
Terrifier is a weird one for sure, another thst comes to mind is Terminator Dark Fate. Here in the UK we only got HDR10 but you guys got DV as well, why? Film quality aside these kind of decisions are just bizarre.
My views on the Cameron releases changed 180 degrees when I heard Cameron talking about how unhappy he was with the film stock he was forced to use on Aliens and how grainy it was. He oversaw the restoration and was beyond happy to address the excessive grain, so if that's his best vision for the film, then that's good enough for me.
Wasn't Far and Away original shot in 70kmm?
Oh man I'm so sad to hear about Little Women. I was hoping to pick it up this coming month.
The reason the James Cameron 4K's look terrible is they are AI UPSCALES os 2k Blu-rays instead of a native 4K scan of the film negative.
People keep saying that, but Cameron insists that they're new scans (and at least one of the movies never HAD a Blu-ray release). The AI grain removal on its own can explain a lot of the nastiness.
It whas the whay the film got recorde they cant make it better they did the best they could but many does not now that
Ghost would get my vote. I was very disappointed with this one. Almost no improvements whatsoever that I could see when compared to the blu-ray apart from minor colour differences.
If anything, I thought the picture quality looked worse than the blu-ray.
Agree on Twisters. I watched Twister a week before and was looking forward to an upgrade for Twisters and it was a downgrade.
I have true lies and i found it much better than my DVD, oh the Abyss was Amazing!!!
I don't really watch a lot of newer movies, but I was planning on giving Twisters a chance. I guess I'll be scratching it off of my list now.
The original Twister is great on 4K though, the twisters have almost like a growl sound to them, it sounds pretty cool.
Older releases, Kino Lorber The Great Escape. The package said HDR however my Panny 820 did not recognize it because it was not. I was told by commenters on a 4k page it was not HDR flat and out of focus it was hard to watch. I'll have to get the other version that actually is HDR. The Toby Maguire Spider-Man trilogy just didn't pop. Very disappointing.
Keno is horrible about not adding HDR to their 4ks.
Kino Lorber does the most half assed transfers.
Most of their 4ks have Dolby Vision/HDR
Far and Away, Terrifier 3 and Little Women, I wouldn't had bought those anyway! The audio on Twisters wasn't that big of a deal to me because, there are so many other 4K movies that sounds awesome in Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. As far as True Lies is concern and the rest of James Cameron's long-awaited Blu-ray/4K releases, I'm just thankful he finally released them (because he didn't have to), especially after waiting 15+ years for them. It's better than not having them in 4K on physical media at all.
Not a very relevant question to the video, but what do you think of the recent trend of studios increasing the proportion of MOD(Made on demand)?
I didn't pick up any of the ones on this list. ABYSS was the most important release for the decade until KILL BILL. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THESE!!!
Unfortunately the abyss is another AI UPSCALE from a 2K source instead of getting a new native 4k scan from the OCN. unforgivable.
@MrCREWCRUSHIN95 not like they will do a new scan this century. Better than the DVD.
@@MrCREWCRUSHIN95it looks great, cry more. I'm sure James cares.
Yes and Yes Twisters big disappoint compared to the original
Recently, I wasn't a fan of the 4K release of Riddick due to the writer/director David Twohy using his supervision of the transfer as an excuse to edit a scene near the end to make it a jarring and unecessary early fade-to-black. The edit is minor, yes, but it sets a really bad precedent of editing movies secretly and selling them to consumers as "the theatrical cut" as they did here.
For me I have three selections the first would be terrifier 3 for the reasons you mentioned. The second would be Shout factory's Silent Night deadly night and that is because the 4K is only the theatrical version and not the uncut version even though the uncut version was upscaled from I believe in videotape they probably could have added it in through seamless branching. The uncut is only available on the accompanying blu ray disc and I also don't like the fact that Shout factory made their 4K region A only.
The third one may be a little nitpicky but it would be on the Seinfeld 4K box set, now I think the discs so far look phenomenal in 4k but my problem is with the packaging. I spent over $200 for this set and the 4K discs come in a very flimsy cardboard case. Sony could have put it in a harder more sturdier cardboard case.
Definitely disappointing about Far and Away - since it was captured on 65mm negative. I’m just wondering if it was transferred from 65mm interpositive or a 35mm reduction interpositive.
I am in total agreement with your picks and the reasons.
Jaws 3-D still is number one for me. It makes True Lies look pretty decent by comparison. The way that movie was shot does not translate well to the format. Stick with the Blu-ray.
How do you choose to curate and what to keep. Tough for me since i genuinely love a lot of movies.
I was really looking forward to Cowboys and Aliens on 4k but I didn't find out about the lack of any HDR until after I ordered it, but figured it might be an upgrade regardless.
But really, I couldn't find ANY difference between it and the original studio release blu-ray from years ago - NONE. I read somewhere that KL had trouble implementing HDR successfully, and if that's the case they shouldn't have bothered - especially as it costs a lot to import KLs to Aus.
Very disappointed.
Personally I did like the transfer of True Lies, I prefer a cleaner look...There were a few scenes here and there where people looked a little rubbery, yes, but I could overlook it without too much problem.
But it is one where I can understand other people not liking it...
A little belated merry Christmas shout out to you Adam but it's boxing day so it still counts so Merry Christmas to you & your family.
Yeah the sound on Twisters was a massive low point of the film for me. No punch and wasn't blown away by it
As for HDR etc I honestly don't mind if a film ( esp classics ) doesn't have it. As long as the picture has been cleaned up & the colouring is spot on. Like Kino's The Great escape. One of my all time fav films & looks amazing.
I do like Cowboys & Aliens on the whole, but if studios do films like this esp with no HDR etc then the price should reflect that, so instead of in the U.K £25 maybe retail price it at £15. So collectors can decide if they want to buy it
Shout studios nowadays are getting a bit like Paramount. A lot of their titles have been poor recently esp with the quality of the films OCN. Like Freaky, Platoon & The Craft etc. tho the range of films they restore is an amazing library to have.
Lastly a lot of films feel rushed to me & to not do a full restoration is poor. Tho a lot of films don't deserve a 4K like Skyline, Ghost ship & maybe Cowboys & aliens for example.
I really want We were Soldiers but it's only a 2K DI I believe. Why has this not been given a native 4K transfer with Atmos ?????????
Also why is there a massive delay internationally in catalogue titles. This is what I really don't get. All cat films should be released at the same time internationally with the options of a steel or slip & not a steel released a year later. There are a lot of cat films that we still don't have in the U.K like Van Helsing, We were soldiers etc
All the best Adam & keep fighting
I could come with a long list of disappointments, i.e. all those 4K releases which, although offering a certain A/V improvement vs the previous blurry editions however fail to include any new supplement or offer new artwork/packaging/booklet. Many Criterion, Arrow 4k release fall in that category.
Considering the steep price of 4K products one would expect a bit more from the manufacturers.
Wallace & gromit; being a ai nightmare
The terminator; another Ai nightmare
Aliens: ai nightmare again from Cameron
True lies; ai nightmare as well as new color grade
The abyss; another Ai & new color grade from Cameron
& the keep for not including any extra footage
I haven't heard anyone complain about T1.
I thought the Terminator was great and The Abyss!
Disagree the terminator looks amazing
@@alexh2790 Watch damn fool, idealistic Crusaders video on it especially to someone that has seen the film originally from a theatrical film print or on the laser disc and DVD original presentation. You can see what added details the AI are creating
@@papa_sloth_gaming547 terminator like the abyss had tons of AI used for it only difference between the abyss in terminator is that terminator, kept a closer presentation to at the colors looks like originally was some new colored timing where is used mainly for the night scenes. The abyss was completely changed, and it’s color timing as well as having AAI artificially add details where there were none again, comparing it to the original DVD and lazy days for both films. You will see that the AI will willy-nilly. Add random details to what it thinks it’s something.
Ironically i was a bit underwhelmed with the Alien Romulus audio on the 4k.
Mine was THE CROW 4k and CHINATOWN 4k. Because both are not consisted of looking great all the way through. My THE CROW, I quickly sold it on ebay and turned a profit and kept my bluray version. Then CHINATOWN has a single movie edition with the original movie poster art months later.
I was also disappointed with Far and Away. Thought there would be more improvement in detail over the previous Blu-ray.
Aww dang I got it but haven't had a chance to watch
The issue with Terrifier 3 is weird! I didn't get it. I did order the trilogy from Umbrella. Won't get it until next month.
I found Twisters to be too boombastic on Atmos. Albeit I have 2- Polk Audio HTS10 subwoofers , 1-18" Cerwin Vega Subwoofer and another 20 subwoofers in the rest of my 7.3.4 speaker setup. I found the film sounded better when I had Auro 3D.
Damn! I bought Far and Away for my wife. It's on the way to me now! 😢
Great upload , I have to agree with alot of these not being the best .
Nice video 👌👌👌👌
I don't blame Adam for anything on his list. He said it was very subjective. And when he brought up little women 94 5.1 that made sense to me. But I knew twisters would be the one where "here is where we know Adam is more an audiophile than anything else. Because there's always that one pure audio example."
Umbrella version does of T3
Wallace and Gromit had it bad but I thought it was ok as an upgrade so I ordered it from the uk through Amazon and some of the others are alright
Sure there are exceptions, but 4k became a gimmick with lots of lazy releases. Blu ray was the last really relevant format for the eyes, I think.
It's horrible that if a movie isn't a huge blockbuster but a goid movie. One if ny favorite movies is Blue Thunder and when I saw it in the theater you felt the thunderous bass when tge helicopter arrived. I love this movie but tge sound design for tge DVD abd bluray is sadly lacking great sound on every level. I'm hoping they fix it in a 4k but they're probably not going to care or even know it needs it
Steel Magnolia's was very disappointing to me
Like alot of products are sold new and improved.??? Just the packaging to raise the price. The work not done but sold that it or it was messed up and nobody said anything.
From T2 THE WAXING TO TRUE LIES THE WAXING THE JAWS 3 THE WAXING 3 OF THE WORST MOVIES . THIS OBVIOUS DEBACLE. THE ORIGINAL WAS OUT SO LONG IN A PARTICULAR VIEW OF FANS ONLY KNOW THESE VERSIONS . TO ALTER THEM THE YOUNGER FANS CAN SEE THE OBVIOUS MANIPULATION OF EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING IS BAKED IN A WAXING SOUP 🍲 😮😊.
⚡️👌🏽👌🏽⚡️
*Cowboys & Aliens is a guilty please of mine, shame they messed up the release* 😱
Twisters was the worst film I’ve seen in years. Nothing happens. Everything feels flat. Annoying characters with zero charisma. Nothing like the original.
Terrifier 3 was disappointing on 4K. Highlights are overblown, but I guess that’s just the film itself and not the 4K transfer. But in my opinion it just didn’t look good on 4K.
it didnt look that good in theaters either...
I would add Memories of Murder to the list - I doubt many nave seen it but there was a UK release of this Korean film by Curzon, and it's the softest, lowest quality 4K I've ever seen. No HDR, just a dreary mess which other than some color tweaks, was no better than the BD.
It’s been explained by twin flicks as why it cannot be fixed. Probably should listen to that.
The same whit true lies it cant be made better becurse of the way they made it they can fix it by make the movie agian
Damn wish I'd known about the audio issue on Little Women I just bought it 😢
I agree that twisters is weak on audio no way the old one sounds dramatically better and true lies picture does not look great and the sound is also not great a lot of movies sound was really weak this year
Yeah, I thought the new TWISTER Dolby Atmos was really weak myself...
I returned my new TWISTER...
True Lies look like the actors rubbed fake tan lotion on their faces...
Lucky you! A bunch of LITTLE WOMEN 4K copies are missing the 5.1 mix.
Yuup twisters audio was pathetic.
They ruined Aliens with the 4k blu ray they took the grain away it’s too clean .The old blu ray is much better the grain just suits the gritty feel of the movie.
Aliens 4k had film grain. It was the perfect amount imo. Light but present.
Every Cameron 4K is garbage
@reginaldforthright805 That is not true at all. The abyss, aliens, titanic, and both avatar films look excellent. What are you watching them with as far as your player and tv?
What did ppl feel about Terminator 4k? How was the picture? Was it true lies level? I didn't even like the steelbook
Does the blu ray for true lies have the same issues or is it like American graffiti where the blu was fine
Hello just getting a 4k collection started and purchased Nobody Why does this film look so bad ? Does anyone know where I can purchase Evangelion Thrice Upon a Time in 4k? Watching this on Amazon Prime was amazing
I guess I got lucky. I only bought good discs this year. My only sell backs to the used record Store were Paint your wagon( I saw it, I don't need to see it again), 3 days of the condor(Same deal), and Clash and Wrath of the Titans(just subjectively awful movies to me.). I thought this year was pretty strong. Godzilla Kong, Dune 2, Furiosa, Bad Boys 4+. A bunch of my favorites came out strongish, to very strong.
The Frighteners import with ATMOS - worst ATMOS implementation I have ever heard. They just push the audio track to all 7.1 channels with very few sound effects that do any traveling (like the cape passing the car in the third act) it looks great but sounds like azz 😢
ADAM, I mentioned before that I originally started out with one subwoofer with my 5.71 Atmos but now I have five subwoofers I have two on the front two in the back and one subwoofer like in the middle of the room so for me twister sounded amazing for me twister sounded amazing maybe because I'm spoiled with the five subwoofers I may take it to the the Twister movie to my office home office and listen to it with the soundbar to see what it sounds like the Soundbar home theater system is a 5.1 with Dolby Atmos so I'll give you I'll shoot you a comment later on if I re-watch it in the home office
I read that true lies could not be fixed do too the original film being destroyed
Despite Terrifier 3 being on the list, that doesn't mean don't watch it. Arguably the most gruesome and wild movie of the year.
Absolutely. Gory AF and very enjoyable.
Not a film I would recommend haha but I’m really enjoying the franchise.
I would say grab the umbrella release, they’re region free
True Lies comes across on my new QLED TV as perfect, beautiful and VERY natural. I think the derision hurled against this movie is unsubstantiated by objective evidence, but it became audiophile lore it was bad and waxy, which then became audiophile truth. Once something becomes audiophile truth, if you disagree, then you are by design no longer a legitimate audiophile. It's ridiculous.
Audiophile, lol, it's not the audio problem it's the video that's the problem 🙈🙄🤣😉
it looks like shit
@@davidgolden1726 The people interested in high-fidelity sound are consequently also interested in a high-quality video presentation as well. They are one in the same person. It is a natural extension. But if it makes it less triggering for you, I will say videofile. The video is only a problem for people that approach their viewing after hearing it is problematic; thus, they are scarred by bad reviews and see a version that is emotionally tainted by preconceived thoughts. If you play it for someone without the baggage of hyper-knowledge about video pictures, it is good. I have been in professional audio production for 40+ years, and I too am scarred when listening to things because sometimes I can pick out the problems more than just relax and listen for listening's sake.
@@NoFate_777 Finally a more professional review

Terminator 2 is so bad it gets a spot every year! 😂
Number 1 should be all of eagerly awaited but highly disappointing James Cameron release with their ok 2k masters fake upscaled to 4k laden with *fake* picture information via AI. Or so ive heard.
Sorry but i fell in love with FILMS shot on FILM, not video games posing as films.
Trick r Treat for me. I don’t know if my OLED is really good at upscaling Blu-rays but the old Blu-ray and this 4K look exactly the same. The 4K doesn’t look any sharper, and yeah the HDR is nice, but not enough to make a massive difference. I don’t know if Arrow is just really subtle with their 4K releases but this isn’t the first time I’ve been disappointed with them. I’m probably going to avoid future releases from them. I’m still annoyed with the Hellraiser 4K looking just “fine”.
The Hellraiser 4K box looks orders of magnitude better than the BluRays. For example, the matte paintings look atrocious on the Hellraiser 2 Blu whereas the 4k release looks solid and indicative of how I remember it looking in the theaters.
I had never seen True Lies before. I may be in the minority but I watched it and thought it looked pretty good, especially considering all the hate it got. Very happy to add it to my collection. I still enjoy seeing the reviews on here even if they differ from my own opinion.
Agree!!
There're grain fest un-watchable blu rays out there but hey, as long as they are grainy I hear no complaints. I love the look of True Lies and T2 on 4K!
Generally, I can say that I am not a big fan of 4k movies, in particular HDR, which I think generally is done pretty poorly. When it comes to disappointing, I only have one new 4k film that I have bought and that is The Abyss, which is a very mixed bag. Some scenes look great, particularly the stuff in the water, but some of the rig just do not work for me. The colour editing just goes all the way to 11 and loses much of the subtlety that I think is often the difference between good and bad colour editing.
Relieved that none of these titles were of any interest to me, so not personally affected by them. But: it is sad and not a little troubling that not only small boutique labels suffer this, but also big studio blockbuster films do: the fear for me is that at some point, a release I've wanted for forever will look like a James Cameron 4K, and that will make me angry.
You can dump vertually all of Cameron's 4K monstrosities straight in the bin. The Terminator is a prime example.
The Terminator looks fantastic on 4k disc in my opinion.
The terminator looks amazing.
@williamdriver1959 It's way over sharpened with the AI trying hard to reconstruct missing info via the image. Even the Mono isn't satisfactory. It's embarrassing and just a bodge job outright. But Cameron knows there's too many "suckers" out there that will buy into it.
@@dr.impossibleofcounterpunc1984 your opinion of course. Not gonna debate you however blu rays were done the same before 4k so might as well just don’t buy anymore.
@@dr.impossibleofcounterpunc1984 i agree evry cameron except for the abyss is a trash keeping the blu rays
I just got done watching Legends of the Fall 4K...
I thought it was really blurry grain at times...
EXSPECALY out in the open territory...
It was patchy at times...
I don't know the exact wording, but I was disappointed with at least 15% of the picture...
Hopefully, another boutique will make another version... 🙏
Twisters looks terrible in cinema, such a soft picture and blurry. It could have been our cinema but idk
