      Nah, it's not like that. You learn incrementally. When watching a video like this it all seems complicated, but it's not complicated after you've spent some time making machines and conveyor belts. The game is quite excellent at progressing you from the simple to the more complex. There's a whole system set up that goes from baby steps to more complexity. And if you want to do things sloppy and simple you can do it that way. The game is very accommodating to all sorts of different build styles. If you end up getting the stuff made that you want to make then you're all good.

      At least half of us are here because we watched a guy build a giant cocoon out of conveyors with a nuclear reactor at the top just to see if it could be done. And where you see some highly optimized approach to space and aesthetic, most of the time that’s after a concept gets shared around in the community and gets incrementally better. Like a river rock that loses all of its hard edges over time. There are some remarkable minds that have dug into this game but at the end of the day, the sandbox is for everyone.

    Some stylish solutions there! I generally use conveyers for anything though it can get tedious putting a 6-conveyer tall conveyer bus for 1-2km in place. I also tend to combine with hyper tubes- just putting a stackable hyper tube on top of the conveyer stack so I can get out to the outposts quickly and even as a hub to then expand further.

  • @SuperPranx

    I’m currently at T5 and I kinda stopped playing. I wanted to convert the spaghetti I had into a proper build with a main bus. I deconstructed all endings of my supply lines and now I don’t even know how to get started on a bus. I don’t know how many belts to have horizontally, vertically and at what distance... how to best split off from those and bring them to the factory, the best layout for the ‘basic’ factory and a bunch of other similar decissions. It caused a bit of a cognitive overload and I simply stopped playing until I figure that out... or watch a tutorial by someone who already has :)
    Is there any chance you’ll be making at least a semi-detailed guide on creating a first, begginer’s main bus? :)

    Personally, since on my current playthrough I have a mega factory, I have a massive main bus where all the items get brought in and all the time I produce and use again are put. I think I have 30 conveyor lines and 4 fluid transport however I think I’ll increase fluid transport to 8. I have the main bus below my factory (I think 24 meters) so when I’m expanding my factory and need a resource for something, I can just attach a splitter to the bus with the appropriate resource, and the bring it up using an elevator to where I need it to be.

    Hey TXC, great videos I think I've watched pretty much everyone you've put out at this point. Quick question for you. I created a lifted bus running multiple resources (Steelx2, Ironx2 & Copperx2, Concrete Ingots, Plastic, Rubber) into a central factory for processing, they are all stacked, so 4x3. They are all coming into a single place in the central factory, but I'm having trouble neatly dropping them to the bottom resource "motorway" that I'm planning on building, without it looking horrific. Any tips on how to drop and split 9 lines vertically while still looking good?

    Awesome guide. Although I'd recommend new players to not spend too much time on beautifying their conveyors. They already have their hands full with learning about ratios and the buttload of stuff you need. Loosing yourself in beautifying everything can turn people away from the game.

    • @TotalXclipse

    I had this cool idea for the game. They said that there would probably not be any flying things like drones/planes because it didn't fit the game but I got and idea to have planes in a way I think this would fit pretty well.
    There will be these ruins of stations (don't know what they are actually called) around the map. you repair them. (maybe you need to unlock something in tier 8 for this) Planes can then go from station to station. so there could be like a station per biome and then if you want to transport your items from green lands to desert it would be much faster than trains, but this would not make trains useless either because you cant build the plane stations manually only use the once in the map. You can have trains gathering resources in the area then load it onto a plane that goes to the other side of the map. ruins of plane stations would fit in the map too in my opinion, just like all these drop pods. Like the comment, if you like the idea the more people who see the better, also add suggestions to add onto it!

    • @TotalXclipse

      I mean we're not the first people on the planet, there could be ruined stations, it's a nice suggestion :)

    At what point should you start thinking about 'factorizing' your builds? I'm currently in Tier 1-2, ramping up towards building the Space Elevator. I've gotten to Tier 3-4 before and got frustrated trying to build coal plants and restarted in a different area. I've basically just placed a Miner-Smelter-Constructor system at each node and am going to have to go into Assembly soon to start fulfilling goals. Should I wait until way more advanced construction to think about making factories or start designing a factory right at this moment??

  • @littleconan7929
    @littleconan7929 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I tried the main vertical bus idea. At first, I found it really convenient : all the resources on the same line, just have to pick with elevator. Good !
    But after some use, i faced many problems.
    One item per stage : quickly 12 stages. It is realy realy not handy to have so much stages. Especialy without any easy way to get up at the begining.
    Mixing is a pain. I had to merge items coming from my train station to this main bus. Adding only 5 stages was a pain.
    When items are at the relevant height it is fine, but they are not, you have to use sometime complex layout with vertical conveveyers and standard conveyers. Especialy when you use vertical bus (small ones) for the entrance of your factory.
    My feeling in the end was. Ok the idea is good but not if it is too high. Carrying all the things around the base is often useless and ugly, especialy when the height of the bus is superior to the one of your factories. So I still use the pattern but with less height.
    My current pattern is a storage yard next to the factories. The storage yard is similar to an horizontal bus with containers but working in both direction (one to store, one to feed factories). Picking towers are the added in front of the factories to pick items (similar to the vertical conveyer in a vertical bus). But my picking towers can be stacked, that way i can send the same resource at the same point on different stages easily.
    Main advantage is that my picking tower is registered in blue print and easily connectes to the rest.

    I'm sitting here in my tangled mess of yarn barely able to cope with what's going on within 100 meters of me, much less "bus" anything larger than a dizzy slug. This doesn't really help me organize anything, just make it look pretty. How much clearance do you need to split things from a vertical bus? What considerations do you need to make if you're not endgame and are limited by tier 1-2 belts and have to move high volume items like screws? Do you even bus screws when you have only tier 2 belts? How do you sensibly split off material for your own construction without starving your factory? How do you estimate how much floorspace you need for the logistics bloat around assemblers/constructors? What can you do if your space is limited, besides Skyblock the factory in low orbit? How do you load balance a multi-lane vertical bus? Should you load balance a multi-lane bus?

    My problem with buses is getting the lines onto the bus. Do you use lifts? How do you start, working from the beginning of where your resources are coming from or working back from your factory?

    • @TotalXclipse
      @TotalXclipse  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some good questions, I did show how I'd do it on my underground bus and the same logic applies to others that merge on, whether you use elevators or not, but I can see the issues from other lanes joining onto the bus without a prior line

      Some great suggestions, generally I avoid mods (I know I cover them but why use them if you can do without :D )
      90% of the time I'll use conveyor walls like Victor suggests, the other option is the build it on a floor beneath the ceiling and then delete the floor like Luke mentions, But I like the support and if I'm really struggling the other option (exclusing mods) would be stacking conveyor poles or splitters / mergers and connecting belts between them

    Was curious to know if the previous oil build for plastic can be mirrored to make rubber? If it can, I guess I just wouldnt be sure what recipes to select for the 4 refineries that are opposite to the other 8 that would be producing rubber.

    • @TrachealShyBu
      @TrachealShyBu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you could mirror this build fairly strait forward but off the top of my head not sure about the exact efficiency though. you could use one of second set of the second row of refineries to convert the rubber and fuel back into plastic which would then feed the constructor to then produce empty canisters for the other set which would work the same as before to package the fuel. you would most likely need to hook up an item sink for any overflow... just to be safe. or if truly mirrored and close by you could just siphon off a bit of the plastic from the plastic factory to provide plastic for the canisters. Hope that helps.

    • @TotalXclipse
      @TotalXclipse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can't do an exact mirror as rubber generates excess fluid I believe however we will take a similar approach - in fact we'll problem segment some off to create plastic canisters for us, but I'm not 100% sure yet

    I'm at tier 5 at the moment, my main issue is that I would like a central hub where I receive all the items in containers and then redistribute them in assembler/constructors productions. The hard part is how to pull them away from the storage hub. Another problem is with ore because I need so many of them and still, I don't have enough conveyor high tier for managing them. The result is a mess in both parts.

    • @AshJMA
      @AshJMA 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't recommend pulling back out of those containers in your hub, send your overflow from production to those containers. Feed off of busses that deliver items closer to where you want to build that way you can avoid the spaghetti mess. Also you'll never accidentally end up with an empty container because you've out-consumed your production.

    • @alessandrosantarini9880
      @alessandrosantarini9880 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AshJMA That's a good suggestion, thanks! Anyway issue in this way is that I don't have an overflow at the moment. Example: I only produce 9 Modular Frames per minutes and soon I will need 10 for Heavy Modular Frame. So I will have 12 (3 * 4) and is quite hard to let just 10 go and 2 going to the storage. The lack of splitter that let you select how many should go in a row is very hard to manage.
      Same apply for other productions like steel and so on

    • @TotalXclipse
      @TotalXclipse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you use a smart splitter you can control priority of modular frames to the manufacturer and any left over can go to storage would that resolve the issue?

    Interesting you don't like the mixed material bus**, for that would help when running multiple resources to a distant factory, instead of multiple conveyors*. In a way a train is a "mixed material" bus with multiple cars (it's all in how you set up the inputs and outputs).
    *Use the fastest conveyor possible and work backwards how to keep it from being congested.
    **Current state of smart and programmable splitters may be part of the problem especially when a lot is involved.
