Shouldn't even wear it in contact with skin. Over time the sweat will activate the copper oxides in the stone and cause issues leading up to toxic shock. Edit and disclaimer: as said by Abhiwan, real malachite is toxic, however, @Patrick Adair Designs is using something called TruStone which is a body-safe resin made with minerals and dyes to emulate the look of real semi-precious stones (like malachite). You would be safe to wear the ring he makes here.
I need to get the dexterity this guy has. Really blew my mind when he put the gold foil into the groove without something so little as a twitch of the finger.
its malachite trustone, they grind up, and reconstitute real malachite, so it's technically real malachite, just processed with additives. think of it like the 23K gold of malachite
Patrick my boy, come back! Always be in the videos! Also please make a video about how to take care of exotic rings, does and doesn't so our rings last a life time!
Wow, I'm happy that I decided to click this video. I've been a subscriber for a long time and stopped for a while when u got a new voice over guy with this exact thought of coming back after some time when he has gotten the hang of it more sense I did like his voice. Obviously I am not sure if this is the same guy but I feel like he is and he has improved so much and I am so happy and proud. I love him doing the voice overs now. Good work, keep it up!
Really wanna experiment with true stone now :D Would really love to see a black granite/marble/stone-countertop material ring with a rose-gold inlay and a rose-gold inside :D I'm mentally picturing something akin to the Ember ring in terms of design (but obviously with rose gold rather than crushed stone) with the chamfered edges, or even the Frostbite ring with the hammered edges (that would look pretty badass :D of the two I'd love to see the hammered edges in the stone rather than chamfer xD)
This is awesome. I’m so glad I found this channel. Y’all’s creativity and craftsmanship are awe-inspiring. I am an auto body tech and there’s a lot of analogous elements in our trades, I really want to start ring making ☺️
This is one of the prettiest rings I've ever seen, this is the exact shade and blend of colors I enjoy. I sadly have no use for a ring though :( but perhaps one day I will and then it can be something as stunning as this. Really beautiful ring. I'm not one to wear pendants or anything as I have super sensitive skin.
@@piplup10203854 Gold and platinum are hypoallergenic, so I doubt you'd have a reaction. If you're really that sensitive though, you should go with platinum. Gold is too soft to use in jewelry on its own, so its always mixed with copper to create the karats. Most platinum out there is 95% pure platinum because it's harder than gold. It's also heavier. Also, when gold is scratched, it loses a bit of material, but when platinum is scratched, the metal is just displaced. Neither metal can be dissolved in a single acid either. There's a few little facts.
@@Shock_Treatment Oh that is good to know! The last time I wore something was a tungsten ring and I had a severe allergic reaction to it that I couldn't wear it anymore. I'll look into Gold or Platinum. Thanks for letting me know, I'll go with the Platinum on the safe side.
I always love seeing these videos hit my sub box. I watch them with my mother; she does some small time jewelry work of her own, and the PAD team serves as a constant source of inspiration. She actually has a question about this build, too - what epoxy was used in the build? Was it the Astro Tech epoxy that y'all sell, or something different?
Its been a while since I last watched one of your videos. You have been such a big source of inspiration for me and Im really glad to see how your video have improved too. Keep it up1!
I just love your work, i actually just made my first ring from your website last night, 'raw earth', i also added amazonite to it cuz i thought the teal would be cool with the purple and bronze colors of amethyst and copper. I remember watching my first video from you, the original 'obsidian' titanium superconductor ring. It's just so cool to watch
When I get enough cash I'll be requesting from this guy to make me a real opal and meteorite rock ring Two of my favourite materials I'd say Both unique and gorgeous.
I finally caved... On day 1 of the new year 😅 had to get a ring during that BOGO deal. It'll be something to symbolize my plans for a new year of growth and understanding of others.
whered Patrick go? these people do lovley designs but i liked listening to patrick, he made the videos more informative and beginner friendly, yet still gorgeous
@skeletalbirdie Malachite is toxic, but with the proper filtration equipment and working with water, it's not a problem. Malachite dissolves in water but only over the long term. If it stays in water just long enough to work, it does not dissolve. I regularly work with malachite and I have no problem with dissolution. On the other hand I don't work with a lathe as in the video but by hand with wet diamond wheels (no dust).
@@MiMuMo I don't know the proportions of stone and resin, but the aesthetics of this substitute is too different from real malachite for me. We see that it is not 100% natural and as a lapidary I think it's a shame to denature a stone as beautiful as malachite.
Never knew that true stone material existed. Kinda want some now.
I have never been able to find anyone selling a piece big enough to make anything with
Check out Maker Material Supply! They've got loads!
it's like 15 bucks for a blank
@@easttenncoinworks I would like to thanks, I discovered a beautiful place

Just for reference for people, RAW malachite is toxic to humans. Jewelry is fine but do NOT mix raw malachite with water or inhale the dust
So snort it and make tea with it?

I had a malachite ring I got when I visited Israel in 1996 and I've loved it ever since. This is stunning and stunning work.

This was a really good return to form for the vids. Hope to see more of them.
Malachite is such a gorgeous material. You work it well ❤️
It's apparently man made fake malachite...
I kind of want to make a wooden pendant like that now....it'd look amazing with a dark mahogany and copper inlay or something like that.
The rings and videos you make are always super High quality Keep it up
I just bought 2 gold burl rings, and I regret not getting a malachite ring so much! They are so beautiful!
Ive never seen malachite in long flat layers like that. That looks lore like epoxy than malachite to me.

I would love to see a reverse version of this. A lightly more toned down version primarily in gold, but with a colorful inner ring.

I flippin' LOVE malachite!
The true stone would look awesome as those fancy counters in kitchens, amazing work dude, this ring looks awesome

Wow realy cool and sophisticate... 👏👏👏
Damn, that looks sick as hell...
Where do you purchase the malachite from? I would like to buy some, to use for inlays in my guitars that I build.
Can make a ring with the fortify magicka enchantment?
Really gorgeous!! Perfekt match, perfect work! Brilliant! But what's with the silver Necklace and Bail at the pendant, tho?
Isn't Malachite and water toxic? Is there a coating over it the finished pieces?
What about a more gold ring with a highlight of Malachite?
I'm picturing similar to racing stripe along the bonnet/roof of a car etc
I think it would be such a cool twist to do this in reverse have the gold showing and malachite on the inside 😮
Hey have you worked with jade before? You should make a video with it.
That green bit of rock reminds me of Glass Armour in Skyrim

Do u think a stone ring like this will break easy without the metal? I was gonna try ruby
I grew up in a town that used to mine copper, so the high school’s yearbook is called Malachite.
ware can I buy blocks of Malachite ? great looking ring
Is it possible to make the gold little bit bigger and then get it rly cold and fit it in?
Amazing Ring👍👍
I love Malachite.
Those are beautiful!!
i really want a ring like this but with white gold instead of regular gold, or maybe green oxidized titanium
Is that gold inlay bits from the shaving off the gold ring in this video??
Would it be possible to tap the gold and true stone malachite, so that they would screw together?
Ahh almost classic Patrick Vid.

Fantastic!!
Дуже гарна каблучка. Не розумію, це справжній малахіт? Камінь? Момент обробки на токарному станку 7:05, схоже що це не камінь, а смола 🙄
So nice! Can you do this with lapis?
Ring is gorgeous but is sticking your whole hand with a glove into the lathe safe?
Bought my lathe finally, so excited to start making rings!
Could you put a link in the description?
This ring looks deadly, but even more so if an offset channel with the gold flake to match the pendant as one might not see the gold as it’s worn 👌
