A perfect Halloween costume. Cheap, frightening, recognizable, warm to wear, and overall just plain cool looking.

Indeed, but plenty of people (at least in my limited experience) at least recognize the image if not the man himself.
WarlordOfRome take it from experience: it can get super warm. If you are dressing up, go on a super cold night or stay cool indoors.

I tried wearing it once. Unfortunately everyone just thought I was a Mummy wearing sunglasses. But then I didn't have a trenchcoat and fedora.
Fun Fact: The Invisible Man's Evil Laugh from 1933 is what Inspired Mark Hamill to play and do the infamous laugh from Batman The Animated Series as The Joker.
I got my parents to watch this film on halloween a couple years ago and old horror films are a tradition now

The Invisible Man Returns is one of the best Universal Monster Sequels, only second to The Bride of Frankenstein.
Never seen invisible man returns but love Bride Of Frankenstein

Personally I prefer the original Invisible Man over the sequels.
Also personally I prefer Son of Frankenstein over the other Frankenstein films.
Also also personally Dracula's Daughter is my favourite Universal Dracula film.

For 1933 this film was pretty out there. I still consider it more horrific than many so called horror films today.

I love the ‘Abbott and Costello’ crossover, the humor is a riot to watch. The original film of course is the greatest
I agree that Abbott & Costello Meet The Invisible Man may be the funniest of the "Meet" series. With only one Universal "monster" in the story, the film gives Bud and Lou more time to focus on many different comedic gags, including the boxing match and multiple scenes at a restaurant. The waiter who serves Bud and Lou (w/Invisible Man) at the restaurant is perfect with his puzzling expressions.

He was one of the few horror movie monsters that actually gave me nightmares. Just the idea that someonw is out to kill you and can't see him. Who wouldn't be on edge?

I haven’t read the book in years so I can’t really remember much from it, but I do recall thinking at the time that I liked all the film versions better. Even the Chevy Chase version Memoirs of an Invisible Man.
I read the book when I was in 6th grade. It scared the absolute hell out of me. I haven't reread it, but I think I will soon.
This is going to be my Halloween costume.
In other words, if anyone says "I didn't see you at my Halloween party," you say "that's because I was the Invisible Man."

So, would you consider Hollow Man with Kevin Bacon and later Christian Slater as entries in the series? The main character each time acquires invisibility and kind of runs rampant as with what you've described in the original Invisible Man movies. Just curious.

I was never into the invisible man movie series. I have seen all the Frankenstein movies on both sides hammer and Hollywood. Also the Dracula movies of Christopher Lee and Bela. Wolfman only a few....

Apart from James Whale's direction, the film's comedic edge could also be down to the fact that one of the screenwriters was an uncredited Preston Sturges.

I've been watching these for years.... I swear I've never heard that burping intro before.
Little known fact: before pursuing a career in comedy Lou Costello was a semi-pro boxer.
That's why the boxing scene was well done. Lou already knew how to move in the ring.
Now do "Memoirs of the Invisible Man" from 1992, "Hollow Man" from 2000, "The Invisible Maniac" from 1990, and "The Man Who Wasn't There" from 1983.

Hollow Man is kind of a remake, and it's a pretty good movie too. At least, a spiritual successor.

On Invisible Agent in real life it's common to make mistakes about origins so that would make sense.
