I would rather get run over by your classic camaro than own your 1000hp camaro. You sir are one lucky guy. Old school > new school

I have a 1970 Challenger Rt 440 4 speed. It’s something that takes a lot of attention to drive. It’s 500hp and the engine and carburetion are always changing. Heat, cold humidity or turning on the ac! You definitely get lots of attention! And they truly are a joy to drive you definitely are connected to the car!!!

56 year old dude here... Grew up with these muscle cars when I was in HS (Fords, Chevys, Mopars, even AMC).. Gotta admit, I can appreciate your 1000 hp Camaro, but got kinda bored with it... Now, you have a 69 Camaro and damn... I'm watching every one of them!
I wish I could get me one now.... Just not in the cards, but will always dream of it and I'd be one of those old dudes that hits you up to talk about it at the ATM.. ha, ha! Thanks for the ride!

Classic cars are good the novelty will wear off. Have to 67 fastback Mustangs one for the street and one for the strip 86 Fox and last of all 14 GT500 that I drive all the time like the air conditioning in the new cars reliability now the 67 definitely a head Turner. It's nice to have both. Freedom rocket and that twin turbo ZL1 we're both nice cars also we need to have them all the 69 Camaro is badass my all-time favorite from a Ford Guy. 👍🔥😎

53 year old guy here. I also grew up with these in HS. I had a 67 Pontiac Firebird then with a 326HO. Today I have a 67 Pontiac Firebird 400. The best part about these is every time you go somewhere people want to see the car and talk to you. Getting a tank of gas takes an hour because people keep walking up! I would love to have a new TransAm from TransAm Worldwide as well. But I don't think I would get as many looks as I do with my 67. Good video. Thank you!

Classic mustangs are really great cars and you’ll be guaranteed at least 2 people will stop you to talk about it or compliment it anytime you drive it around but classic cars require a fuck tone of care and maintenance plus even with all that maintenance they can still be unreliable so make sure to stay on top of everything when you eventually own one, good luck on your search!

    • @strawberryhellcat4738
      @strawberryhellcat4738 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Tips from a former 'Cuda owner.
*One* : have a reliable daily driver for when your precious won't start or the weather is crummy (or both!).
*Two* : get vanity plates that say something feminine or slap a girly bumpersticker on it, because if you are out with a guy - you will cease to exist because everyone will assume it's HIS car. Plus, it's fun to watch their reactions when they see the sticker/plate and realise the car is YOURS.
*Three* : your precious is a fussy baby and demands attention and most of your paycheck. Also; if you are doing your own maintenance - forget fancy fingernails, and say hello to scrubbies and grease remover for skin care.
*Four* : be prepared to say, "No, it's not for sale" for-ev-er....until you get old and finally do sell it, because it's easier to drop down out of a classic CJ7 than to open doors heavy enough to be on a bank vault and haul your butt out of bucket seats about a foot off the ground.
*Five* : wouldn't trade the experience for the world. 🤣

I have a '13 Shelby GT500 and yeah, it's not a classic (yet) but with the work Shelby put in, above and beyond, a regular Mustang, it is a pretty rare car. It is the last of the stick shift Shelby's and that is why I haven't sold it. I like the live rear axle and it was the last Shelby that Carroll Shelby had a hand in designing. For the past 6 years we've had it in Germany and it is a blast driving it the way it should be driven. In 2023 we are coming back to the US and, I know, she will hate me going back to "65 MPH." Super video, right on point, especially about driving the car. You have it, drive it and enjoy it!

I had a real deal 69 SS 396 Camaro about 25 years ago in my teens. Brings back some memories. Now... currently sitting on Three Chevelles (68, 69, & 72), and a 72 Monte Carlo. I took a hiatus from the "old cars" for awhile and had late model stuff. Now, in my early 40s, find myself just wanting these old classics again. Have no fear though... half of mine are LS powered, the other half old school Big Block Chevy. On the mufflers... anything but flowmaster please. I am a big fan of Pypes Race Pros. Enjoy your car Nick, since I first started following, I had hopes that you would get a 69 Camaro and make some new memories with your dad.

Look up PYPES (Performance Years Performance Exhaust Systems). They are in Hatfield, Pa. They have a variety of custom fit kits for most classic cars. They have a 3 inch system that goes over the axle and maintains the 3 inch pipe all the way through. Most 3 inch systems force you to dump at the rear axle or they shrink to 2.5 or 2.25 inch over the axle. They're prices are very competitive, too.

Nice 69! I owned one in the 90's. Looked good but drove like a hay wagon. I began with updating stuff from the ground up: subframe bushings, suspension, door pins, and other hidden things. It came with a good running 283 but that wasn't sexy enough. I had a 327 built with all kinds of cool parts. That ruined the reliability. I had it painted and the body shop did a horrible job. Eventually I lost my fondness for it. I sold it for my downpayment on my house. I have never regretted it, which comes as a surprise to people. I do regret not keeping it a turn-key daily driver. Now I own a 66' Chevelle. It looks nice and is a driver. I'm going to keep it running and enjoy it.

The cup holders! That's one thing I hated about my '81 and '78 Camaros. They didn't start having them until the 3rd or 4th gens. Glad you got your dream classic Nick! Some day I'll have mine, a 1980 Z28 4 speed.

Oh hey, just remembered, keep an eye on your fuel line, the old cars don't like the new fuel and eats up lines and gaskets.

The 69 Camaro has 2 cup holders built into the car from the factory! Open the glove box door and you will see two round indents in the door. Meant to hold two cups or cans of soda, of course only when parked.

Look at Circle Racing 2 piece Billet aluminum Rallye wheels with disc brake center caps, 17"×8" & 17"×10", I have a '68 SS/RS big block with that wheel set up, it keeps the old school look, but a modern wheel....Your '69 is a sweet ride!

You are right about it being a conversation starter. I bought a 66 mustang and everywhere I go someone has to always to talk to me about the car. Or I get someone with a newer muscle car trying to flex.

People chattin you up is good sometimes, not always - everybody wants to talk!
But you didn't mention the doors (watch your fingers), many are thrilled by the solid build quality. The solid sound and feel of closing them. I also like manual windows so that an electric motor doesn't smother me. You're right though, quality is engineered to last the warranty, and only the super hot and mint U.S. cars will be collectible.

When upgrading on the Camaro please keep the stock rally wheels , it's the look or if you want to try something see if 69 Corvette wheels fit the rear being that they are10 inches wide and maybe you want more tire on the road later on without changing the look.

Hey I like my '91 Z28 you know there aren't many 3rd gen Camaros around "91 and '92s all pretty much look the same. I run a 350 tuned port injection engine hooked up to a 700 R4 transmission with a shift kit and a low stall torque converter, also true duel exhaust headers to tail pipe. It's a fun, fun, fun car to drive and fast enough for me. I've had it for 22 years , I'm 73 and probably will own it until I die. RockinRonny Ontario Canada.

You'll always get from people "I had one of these when I was younger....." stories. It brings people back in time to a simpler place. Most 80's songs bring me back to 1988 when I was a teenager (Whitesnake, Poison, Skid Row, etc.). And I own a Delorean too so I can go back to when I was a teenager.

Vacuum secondaires don't open via the throttle linkage, they only open when there is enough vacuum/load to open them. Revving the engine in neutral won't/shouldn't open them even if you put the pedal to the floor. Mechanical secondaires work via your throttle linkage.

One thing I would hate but the same time I’d do it for personal insurance, parking away from other vehicles to avoid door dings. You’re not gonna drive the car to the grocery store and park it right up front with everyone else. You’re gonna park far away and away from other cars.

I built a 1970 Nova, 250 straight 6 to a 40 over 327 Loved it!! And yes they are so easy to work on. No computers or driver nannies you actually have to drive the car. I get the whole technology thing is happening but nothing beats cubic inches and compression....
    Your car is fucking beautiful!!

Gorgeous new ride. Classics are easy to work on but some parts are hard to find. I got a 79 z28 black badge I've been slowly building. The big block is definitely a huge improvement for the 69 series. Mufflers stick with what you got or go loud with flow master 44 series or monster series. I ran electric exhaust cutouts on mine with hooker header long pipes 3 3/4 stainless exhaust

Difference between a real car and new plastic one, they are made of real metal, no computer to tell it what to do, its power driven lol. Would love to see that at the shows
