Howard Marks isn't just a great investor, he is also a fine teacher (and writer)...He has convinced me over time that the important thing to do is to manage your risk rather than try to predict the future.

Gavin - can you recommend a book by him (or anyone else) that actually spells out what I can do to mitigate my risks? I don't know what to do. Buy more bond funds?

The best book I can think of is the one Marks wrote...The Most Important Thing. You sound confused and a little scared. It sounds to me that you need to see a good financial advisor. Asking a stranger for help on the net probably isn't the way to go. Managing your risk in the market is a right brain activity, not a left one...good luck.

Thanks, it's a catch-22, I have no idea how to pick an advisor I can trust. It's like anything else, you have to know about the subject in order to know how to pick one.

I would say the most important thing is to protect your portfolio. This is why I mix growth stocks with low beta stocks and bonds. The low beta stocks bought with a margin of safety protect the portfolio when markets turn south.

@0:19 "time to Sound the warning IS when everyone is making alot of Money" that applied to Bitcoin - before the Crash, when even the housecleaning Service reportedly was talking about bitcoin. I do not think equities reached the same Level as bitcoin yet - i do not hear any housecleaning Service bragging about equities.. yet.

He might have been just a year or two early. I enjoyed the commentary. On the anniversary of this interview, I’m getting defensive with my portfolio.

He can't answer at minute 6:30 because he doesn't want to be seen as bearish. If I read him correctly he's saying exit stocks

Imagine when we lose grounded, wise, genuine, simple, long term focussed and the wealth of knowledge legendary investors like Buffett, Howard, Munger, Dalio.....the next gen. is absolutely clueless and are no match for this class of our past generation heroes.

Always strange seeing the Bronze Bull in the background, as if the symbol of Wall Street, is the same as golden calf - Idol Worshipping in the Bible: ‘Let any who have gold take it off.’ So they gave it to me, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf” (Ex 32:21-24)

When you see videos like this you know a recession is nowhere in sight. Give SPY atleast another year or 2.
