  • In this video, I share an unofficial Liberating Structure called: Mad Tea Party. It is a nice way to make a large scale icebreaker. You prepare a list of questions and then people discuss these with clever use of circles.

Thank you for all the work you do, as much as I like the liberating structures, it is only thanks to your videos that I can visualize a given exercise 👀 For the mad tea party: am I correct in understanding that the number of people in the inner circle doesn't have to be the same as in the outer circle? How to distribute bigger groups? 50/50? 🤔 And would you have some suggestions for ice-breaking questions that can be used for global teams? I was thinking about something like "introduce yourself from 10 years ago", perhaps there are some additional ones?

The two circles need to be of the same size. Otherwise somebody will miss a partner. If I miss one then I'll join myself. Or if there is a co-facilitator we can use him/her to balance the circles.
I like your question with 10 years ago! Other questions for global teams can also be: Favorite toy as a kid (that tells a lot of about people), last TV show watched...
