Hi. Mike love the head on diamond take off. Would ne cool if #4 had a go pro camera during winter training flights so we can get a feel of what flying the slot is like.

Considering they are flying end of life Super Hornets, the team gets a solid pass if a jet is grounded. Go Blues 💙💛

    Is this actual comms?

yes it is...."Boss"'s calls and cadence tells reminds them of what's coming up and if they need slight adjustments. They can tell by slight changes in voice as to what they need without them having to actually have him "say" what needs to happen.

Ive been watching daily since they flew in and they are indeed making strides quickly of what we can see. My question is, where do they go to practice their demonstration when they are not above the Shade Tee flight line? I assume they have a "mock" field laid out somewhere in the desert away from civi's and I assume at some point they will begin practicing over Shade Tree?? Anyone know where they fly off to after take off and before they come back for their break?? I was in 4 years of Navy ROTC at LSU, studying hard and doing my time. I had a best friend that graduated in 86, a year ahead of me, who went on to fly Intruders (the last to go to sea with them before they decommissioned the A6). That year a little movie called Top Gun came out and when I got my orders in 87 upon graduating they read "Surface Warfare" (Ship driving). I was crushed and didn't know what to do. My buddy that flew Intruders later told me that when he graduated they accepted 80% of those that applied into flight school but w Top Gun being the single best recruiting tool in Navy history, in 87, my class, they took 8% as the market got flooded. I decided to resign my Commission as I had that opportunity being a "College Program Student" (non scholarship type). After graduation I moved to Dallas where I began an Amateur golf career and then turning Pro in 96. I look back as Im 60 now and I wonder if I had a choice to either fly in the Navy or to play golf, which would I do knowing what I do now? It's a question that I can't even answer now and not a decision I had to make but it illustrates what happens sometimes with broken dreams and unanswered prayers. My buddy (actually a life long friend that I went to middle school, HS and college with) will be retiring from Delta soon and we are still best friends. I love aviation and look back w dreams of "what if" even after all of these years. Fly Navy! Go Blues!

"Shade Tree" is the practice area in the desert they fly off to when they leave El Centro Air Base. When they practice out there (which is most of this 1st month) we only see the take offs and landings...mostly.....sometimes a few loops and circles). When they practice the entire routine at the air base it's designated as practice "over the field".
