*Install was easy **fireplace.homes** good although I personally had some difficulty with the thermostat I had. Issue was mine though, not realizing that electric heaters couldn't use oil thermostats. Tip: If you are using an external thermostat, run the power to the thermostat, not the unit. Once that was squared away it worked great.*
Be careful, open the fuel on for half second then wait do it again one sec turn of one minute turn on half turn ,try on if pilot does not turn on it's clog , clean try air first turn on propane if you smell it it's ok try again cover your eyes with clear plastic mask good luck
Awesome! I tried the pilot light orfice first from a recommendation from another video. That didn't work, tightened and tapped the regulator. That worked!!! This thing had been down for years.
Thanks for the help. I wasn't properly priming my pilot light, which meant I wasn't getting the thermocouple up to temperature. After watching this short video, my patio heater is fully operational!
Good info ....should have mentioned the tilt switch which was the problem with mine ...can check it...just bypass it by connecting two wires together !!
First the bad news, talking over the background music -- completely distracting. The good news, tapping the regulator?! I thought, "What good could come of that?" Well, it worked! Before, the flame was consistently low - really low - no matter what the knob was set to. Completely frustrating as our heater is brand new and there is just enough hose to get from the tank to the burner so kinking was not possible. I used two wrenches to tighten the hose to the regulator although there was hardly any play at all so I don't think that was the problem. But I tapped the regulator against the tank before attaching it to the tank. After turning on the tank and hitting the igniter switch, it came roaring on. I was shocked! But pleasantly shocked. Thank you for the video.
Took me a while to figure out that, yes, indeed, something was obstructing my pilot tube. First time using it this season, it took me a couple hours to figure out what the heck was going on. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the tips. Mine had diminished flow from the pilot and yellow flame for what there was. I took the small tube that feeds the pilot, off of the valve and discovered that there was some dried Rector Seal in the inverted flare joint where the tube connects to the valve. Why there would be Rector Seal in a flare joint, I don't know. Anyways, that cleared up the issue
There are a couple more videos about that problem. One is the safety switch and how to bypass it and the other is to clean the pilot tube (can't remember what the guy on the video called it) I'm gonna show my husband these videos cause we have 3 of these heaters that don't work. When they work, they work good, but only can get them to last one cold season if that!!
Thanks for the tips. I'm pretty sure I had a blocked pilot light. I had to disassemble the unit, blast with air and use a couple pipe cleaners in the pilot light tube. Works good now!
Also can u explain thermocouplers? My pilot will light but when I turn on the main nothing happends, I cant even hear any gas going through the main burner?
That sounds like there could be a blockage just above the venturi. There is an open space for feeding air to the fuel mixture. Wasps sometimes make nests in there. Spiders and wasps seem to like propane.
My patio heater starts fine but after it burns for 10 - 15 minutes is goes out. It will not light again until it cools down which takes another 10 -15 minutes. When I light it again, it repeats the cycle. What could be causing the problem?
Fire Sense would not stay lit. I expeced the worse ie thermocouple etc. I simply rapped the regulator on the propane can as suggested and voila. Its fixed.
Great video...just didn't need the music playing in the background in that it made it difficult to focus on what he was saying..... music makes it annoying to watch...thanks...:)
Thanks - - great help. Appreciated - much better advice and explained things from this vid than from the mob i purchased this from - Bu**ings - say no more!! Cheers.
To matter2016... May I would take you seriously if you spent the time to make sure you used the right capitalization in the word thanks....its not THanks. Why would you even take the time to post your response to an individual who is taking their time to give what they want...for free to someone else. Only an idiot would post what you did. lostwhirly...thank you...I got my propane heater working...couple taps of the regulator and away it went!
Now that's an original ol skool video. This looks centuries old! Great content!

The little tip about the regular connection and tapping it and tightening worked. Thanks.

Works also for the gas furnace and water heater, and the propane fridge buners for RVs.

Great video I followed your direction and got it to work! Thanks
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I tapped the regulator on the gas tank and it worked.
Thank you for the video it helped me fix my problem starting it. Well done.
Thanks Friend! The tapping the regulator worked like a charm :) Very Helpful!
Worked on my nearly new unit too.
Great info, thanks.
Mine will only light if I heat up the thermocouple with a torch first...

Pilot light lights up but immediately you release the button it goes out, Even though I have waited two to three minutes before release
Meaghan Murray Meaghan I have the same problem - did you fix it? If so, how?
Fire Sense Patio Heaters should be the best.
Same problem inlet go and it turns off

Same i have the same problem
Thanks, tapping worked for a noisy heater!
Does wind affect fireplace?
Thanks for the tips.
I'm pretty sure I had a blocked pilot light. I had to disassemble the unit, blast with air and use a couple pipe cleaners in the pilot light tube.
Works good now!
This was a huge help. Thank you
Also can u explain thermocouplers? My pilot will light but when I turn on the main nothing happends, I cant even hear any gas going through the main burner?
Thanks! Great and clear instruction
should i hear the gas when its on and the tank is open ?? i dont hear the gas unless i start to loosing the tank
I have a heater that shoots flames up the side as if it's on fire.
What could the problem be?
Thanks,
Zach

I have the same issue I how do you clean it
Jimmy Rios Clean out the tube where the flames are coming from. There's most likely spider webs inside the metal tube. A wire brush would work great.
Thanks Great Help It was the regulator
Music was distracting and an awful choice too! The video was informative, thanik you!
Mine will light the flame is all around inside but the mesh doesn't get red hot like it used to. What could be the problem?
Russ mine too
Helpful video but you really should get rid of the terrible porno sounding music.
My patio heater starts fine but after it burns for 10 - 15 minutes is goes out. It will not light again until it cools down which takes another 10 -15 minutes. When I light it again, it repeats the cycle. What could be causing the problem?
+David Sommer Did you ever get this figured out, we're having the same problem
David Sommer I have the same problem did you ever figure it out
Thank you so much for the help!
No mention that often it's the thermo-couple not allowing the pilot to stay lit? That would be my first concern!
What if the heater starts but the flame is to high and not burning correctly?
Fire Sense would not stay lit. I expeced the worse ie thermocouple etc. I simply rapped the regulator on the propane can as suggested and voila. Its fixed.
Great vid. The music tho. Why? Much easier to hear you with out it. Thanks
Great video...just didn't need the music playing in the background in that it made it difficult to focus on what he was saying..... music makes it annoying to watch...thanks...:)
Being out of focus made it hard to focus on more than the lousy music
Really it's just a piece of shit. I have tried everything and the damn thing still wont light. It's going on side of the road. Never buy another one.
Fire Sense Patio Heaters should be the best.
very helpful, thanks!
Thank you!
I have a heater that shoots flames up the side as if it's on fire.
. What's the story?
Will Hawes I know it's 4 years too late but this is most likely a dirty line. Maybe spider webs are clogging the line.
Fire Sense Patio Heaters should be the best.
Moved on.
Thanks - - great help. Appreciated - much better advice and explained things from this vid than from the mob i purchased this from - Bu**ings - say no more!! Cheers.
focus or use proper codec so that picture is sharp
