apparently region 8 (eastern visayas region) is in visayas; and parts of region 8 speak the visayan (commonly termed as cebuano) vernacular. Region 8 includes all of samar (eastern, northern, western), leyte, southern leyte, biliran.
I have seen their performance in New York and they are an amazing group. The only thing they need to change is to have someone articulate in English introduce them and explain what they are doing.
Why do visayans, hate tagalogs? well I'm not tagalog, I'm ilocano. We all look the same but only the language is different. I hate it when tagalogs call other ethnolanguages dialects. It's should not be called dialect actually coz if it is, tagalog should be a dialect of malay. It's not a tagalog dialect actually, because their mutually intelligible in a small degree and belongs to different language families. Examples of dialect of tagalog are batangueno, laguna, mindoro, angono, bulacan&mynla
Researchers from UP Visayas came across this song from an old singer from Ormoc, Leyte. That old man claimed that the song is entitled DANDANSOY. Two more recorded versions from Kabankalan, Negros Occ. and Santander, Cebu both have CONDANSOY for a title. Many textbooks and music books publish this Visayan folk song as "Condansoy" The language in the lyrics is Cebuano Visayan; but there is also a Waray version recorded in Villareal, Samar (Dandansoy ung title).
naku pag talunan ba naman yan ...... the most important is we all enjoyed the wonderful dancers , they did it nice... maybe the history of that song if you want to know is thru our LOLO's and LOLA's maybe they all know about it
