For anyone wondering what the rig is: that's not what this is Minecraft has a new command that slows the gamespeed down, basically slow mo, and Alexa is speeding the footage back up There's no way in hell minecraft's code would allow that much information to be processed that quickly but if you slow the entire game down then it makes things alot easier on the code Looks awesome though!

The trick is forcing minecraft to render frames slower and then speed up the footage in editing. It's why he doesn't move when other things on screen are blowing up/falling.
You know, if Minecraft wasn't coded rather poorly and worked fine on multithread/core rigs, it would probably be able to run like this without commands if you had a good rig

They already did tackle optimisation, rewriting the lighting engine in 1.20. This made mods like Phosphor or Starlight useless so they did a good job there. They just can't do that every update or they wouldn't have time to work on actual features, which is what the community demands. Nonetheless, even with best optimisation there's not way Minecraft would pull off what you see in the video on an average PC. There are limits to everything

I their infrastructure makes any sense, they probably have supercomputer servers for all the heavy stuff, and individual employees have some business grade laptops. It would be a waste of money if every intern had a beefy computer at their desk

There's no pc that can run this without slowing down the tick speed. Mainly due to how Minecraft Java is coded, the game just can't properly render all these objects acting up at the same time.
It’s likely a trick. He’s probably using the /tick 1 command to give the computer 20x more time to compute each tick, then speeding up the footage in post by 20 to bring the ticks back up to 20 ticks per second to make the footage look normal

For the sake of breaking the joke completely, the best NASA's DOS computers could run is DOOM. Like, they already have to pay several thousand dollars per employee, you think they can afford current-day computers? Old PCs are technically safest as well, can't get hacked remotely if you don't have access to the Internet at all.
I think he's talking about the best computer nasa has, the Pleiades. I could give you some info on the specs but it would be a long reply. It is only 32nd on top 500 fastest computers in the world but i think it's certainly as powerful as you would expect from Nasa

To sum up, vanilla minecraft will perform worse on the supercomputer than it would a modern laptop/pc, not to say you couldn't design a multithreaded minecraft like server, but there will be a lot of trade offs.
The hilarious part is that a supercomputer from 100 years from now won't run Minecraft well, it's entirely on the developers to fix the game or the user to use mods. Developers need to understand if you want to maintain a game and it's playerbase for 15 years the game's foundation, engine and things like that will occasionally need to be updated

you can use landslide after first explosion, and add few animation of TNT blocks flying randomly, or similar, but slowing down and then speed up would be easier, in this case at least. I love potatoes
The new command to slow down the game, combined with playing back the recording faster, makes it a lot easier to get footage like this without needing to download a mod that could do the same
The one at the end reminds me of those "wall-of-harmless-pins" toys you can put your hand on the back of, and it shows the imprint of your hand in the pins on the front
