i personally think 4 walls is the type of song u couldnt appreciate without the dance if that type of song exists. their 4 walls dance just gives it more sense. more touch i guess. its on a whole new level
I've actually never seen the dance, and I've got the song on a playlist. So I don't think it's that necessary. However, it's true that some songs are better accompanied with dance.
The song is really good on its own as well. But the dance and the video does greatly compliment the track and it helps listeners ease into it if it's their first time listening. Like one of the reactors said, it's not just a song, it's an experience

I think now that China has lifted the ban on Korean entertainment SM will probably do it. I think they were reluctant to let Victoria and Lay promote with their groups in case it negatively affected the way the Chinese public would view them and it's kinda hard to promote as a three member group nowadays

The song was produced my some western producers which is why it had a more American feel. The original demo version I'm pretty sure is done by 2 American guys and LDN noise (my fave producers) are two guys from the uk who worked on it, and started doing a lot with sm in 2015. They also did view, 4 walls, dumb dumb, fire truck, monster and lucky one, power, married to the music, papi, rude love, red dress, why, zoo, etc.

F(x) is such a a talented group I wish they have another comeback!!
Because some people don't actually look into the situation with f(x), here's why you can't really blame SM for their 2 year hiatus:
The political situation between Korea and China has been tense for a while now, as Korea greenlit the building of the American missile defense system in their waters, which China clearly wouldn't be happy with in such close proximity to their own country. Due to this China pulled a lot of support from various Korean industries, including banning its tourists from going there and banning Korean celebrities from appearing on Chinese television. Kpop groups were no longer allowed to have their concerts in China, and any Chinese films/dramas that Koreans were participating in were put on hold.
2 Chinese kpop idols, Yixing and Victoria, have individual careers in China that pre-date these tensions. Due to the political climate and the influence of the government on public opinion, if they had returned to promote in Korea after the travel ban was lifted, they would be labelled TRAITORS by their own countrymen. Obviously this is not a situation that they, their members or SM would want. And before anyone asks why other Chinese idols continue to promote in Korea, I can tell you that none of them are as relevant as Yixing and Victoria in China. These 2 are practically household names, there would be too much at stake.
SM has currently got a bunch of Chinese NCT members who they can't put in a Chinese unit because they're being blocked. So they are likely not overjoyed about this situation either.
Thankfully tensions are seemingly settling down and Korea and China are making moves towards being on good terms again.
I would like to ask people to please, PLEASE do some research before just callously putting out statements and blaming people for things they cannot control. f(x) are my ultimate girl group and I know very well how badly SM has treated them in the past and I'll never forgive them for it. But this situation is simply not their fault and it can be annoying seeing people so misinformed about it and worse, hating on other groups when they get comebacks. Educate yourselves please.

in most cases i agree, especially with EXO, but SM has a history of neglecting f(x)... and it goes beyond a group comeback, because i can understand the seriousness of the political issues. However, how SM has treated the individual members is not cool. Amber has complained at least 2 times this year regarding her management. SM could have still been doing things for luna and amber (krystal is getting work) but they really haven't. Everything that luna and amber are do individually is because they are out there trying to do stuff for themselves. SM doesn't do shit for them. Before the huge conflict with china SM has been neglecting f(x), so when it comes to f(x), SM will never get a pass
another thing explaining the lack of promotions or seemingly less "effort" put into their promotions by sm is that fx as a group just didnt delived the way they wanted. the members are HUGE as individuals - amber, krystal, victoria especially. But as a group, their domestic fandom isnt as big or as strong as some other groups. the industry is all business, if something doesnt bring in enough income or doesnt gather enough attention, its not going to have a strong support from the company. sm has really been highlighting luna, victoria always had her solo schedules and huge chinese fanbase, krystal went hard into modeling and amber has always been great at variety and overall entertaining. people love to complain about sm "hating" fx but when it comes to actually supporting that group, they dont do enough. with that kind of fanbase, had they not been an established sm act, they would struggle a lot. tl;dr support fx properly before you start crying and pointing fingers.

SME really closing the girl group with the most unique concepts and best quality songs in the dungeon :/ f(x) deserves so much more, they've only had a Japanese concert tour, the members still want to perform and release songs but KYM is too far up his ass to see that. Best girl group out there doesn't deserve this mistreatment
Qian Mint It was not out of choice, THAAD meant Victoria was stuck in China. She's a household name there and so promoting in Korea when the political situation between the 2 countries is bad would have had her labelled as a traitor to her own country. Same thing happened with Yixing. Thankfully THAAD is easing up now so we can hope for a comeback soon.
ActuallyAnanya true but SM never treated f(x) well to begin with... even before THAAD they had basically one comeback per year with maximum 1-2weeks of promotion, and it made no sense for them to wait for 7 years till having their own solo concert or having a fandom name. Danger, hot summer and electric shock did really well, all earning triple crowns and if SM actually rode on the momentum f(x) would've achieved so much more tbh. I'm eager for Vic and Yixing to finally make a comeback to the korean music scene though, I miss my biases

And EXO and f(x) are my ultimate groups so I can't wait for THAAD to be over so I can finally get ot9 and ot4 again.
ActuallyAnanya I mean both Yixing's Victoria's and Chinese activities are scheduled by their Chinese studios but it's nice that SM gives them that freedom to do so. Most of krystal's activities are based on endorsements and invitations. I just wished that they gave Amber and Luna more chances esp in regards to music. f(3) could've easily been included in SMTown concerts but only Luna was there and she performs one song... I'm praying for f(x) to slay their next comeback. And for Yixing and Vic to be reunited with their members

The thing about this album and this title track is that I feel like they put out 4walls to be a safe enough bop to chart well bc the rest of the album (as per usual f(x) style) might be too experimental for a public that usually wants easy going pop music. For me personally, I LIKE 4walls, the song, but I LOVE 4walls, the album. "Glitter," "X," "Rude Love," and "Traveler" are ICONIC and I enjoy pretty much every song on the album. I also think 4walls, the song, is like an introduction to the album in a lot of ways -- it's a little off beat, gorgeous chords, but it's a lot more subdued in its complexity than previous albums.

If Playback can go 2 and a half years without a comeback, without disbanding or members leaving(they even added a new member), then I have hope that f(x) can comeback. It also helps that with the THADD debacle, China is now allowing kpop artists to appear on Chinese programs and promote in China again so Victoria (and Exo's Lay) should be able to promote with their groups in S.Korea as well without any major backlash from China/Chinese fans.
Also, f(x)'s last Korean single as a group was released in July 2016, 16 months ago. Just an SM Station song and it wasn't promoted but I still think it counts. And then their Japanese single Cowboy/4Walls was released in September 2016, 14 months ago. So it's not like the group's been completely inactive since 2015.
Playback finally had a comeback and I am so happy for them.
They are going to in 1st quarter 2018.
A Producer has hinted at working on an f(x) track and I really hope it happens, but just like with YG artists, I expect nothing until teasers start dropping.

actually, I think it's because there was a Korea ban in China and since F(x) has a chinese member, she went back to China. Although Victoria didn't leave the group, the current status of the group is a very ambiguous. Even Exo released a new song without Lay.

Victoria didn’t leave the group or anything of that sort. she has activities in China as per her contract with the entertainment company she signed it with there, so she’s obligated to complete them. what happened with the hallyu ban really sucked, but it’s not like that at all. i’m just speculating but once victoria and lay complete their activities there, i’m sure they’ll return to their respective groups. and hopefully this time SM won’t keep f(x) locked away again. the fans are just getting more antsy and angrier by the day.
Kitty Kat they filled up their schedules BECAUSE of the Hallyu ban so they wouldn't be doing nothing. There was even a travel ban for a while, of course they couldn't come back. The Chinese public would view them as traitors if they were seen promoting with a country they were against politically. Not to mention EXO endorse LOTTE which actually provided land for the building of THAAD so that's a whole other can of worms.

The genre is called UK/Garage or Deep House. Thats why the drop isnt in your face. Most UK DJs always keep the drop smooth and chill, whether its UK Garage, UK Dubstep or Deep House.

What would be nice would be if you guys would react to some of the "B" tracks on some of these albums. You have groups like Red Velvet whose NON-MV tracks are actually the best tracks on the album (like Body Talk, and You Better know) and it would interesting to hear the reactions to those.

f(x) are so talented they really deserve a comeback the 4walls album is one of my favorite albums of all time I wish people could properly appreciate them more. also I would appreciate if you guys reacted to Lunas free somebody or any side tracks in the album bc its amazing.

Aaaaaa. I've been waiting for this :D. The thing that i love from f(x) is the vibe they own. I've watched so many gg (mv and their performances). They have the same vibe in their performances. But when i watched f(x) MVs and performances , the vibe is so much different. Probably it's because the unique vibe that f(x) has.
