  • This had been an explore that we had been talking about doing for the best part of a year, and on a bleak midwinter's morning it was decided that the time had finally come.
The history has been done many times before, but here is a very quick summary:
    - Founded in 1905.
    - Made flour products, most excitingly Bonio dog biscuits.
    - Closed in 1984.
That is the history dispensed with then. The explore itself was absolutely amazing - I was really suprised that so much machinery/pipework is still there, although I am reliably informed that it is only a fraction of what has been there previously.
We had some grief on the way in, the security car startled us and then added to our fear by repeatedly sounding his horn. He didn't see us for snowy dust though, and we managed to get in without any more interaction. The famed access (you know of what I speak) was less formidable than expected, but still not to be taken lightly with the weather conditions. There was some fear of death, certainly.
Once we were in, it was very relaxed; although we could see from the windows that the security had stayed in the way of our exit point pretty much thoroughout. This worried us a bit, but not a lot, and thankfully he decided to take a lunch break for long enough for us to make our escape.
All in all, a brilliant explore of an absolutely huge building. I would highly recommend it.

I served my Apprenticeship as a Flour Miller at Millenium Mills. i started there in Sept 1968 and left in Aug 1974. It was an amazing place to work in,so big and at the time it seemed so complicated. Some of the people that worked there were great characters, getting up to all sorts of tricks,i could write a book about my time there!
I am still a Flour Miller all these years later.Brilliant video and the music is spot on,thanks very much for your efforts, would love to go back and see it .

I used to visit the mills as a child in the late 60's, until Christmas 1970 for their annual Christmas party. Unfortunately, dad died when I was nine in 1971 and I never visited again. Thank you for sharing this film; brings back some memories x

This is just excellent, you have definitely got some guts there, especially running up those rusty stairs IN THE SNOW, gotta hand it to you. I work in the Excel opposite and I am always short of breath due to the beauty of this history that stands there defying London, this video is brilliant, the music can bring you close to tears as it goes with the memories, more like this please. Well done!

I used deliver wheat from farms in Kent there. Guy called Derek used to book you in and sample the load. Then into the central courtyard to tip. While tipping go in the canteen for breakfast.

Amazing film.i have always been in ore of them.been and seen them a few times but from the outside only.Rather to fat and old to squeeze into small gaps.a great pity i never knew the place before the other mills were demolished, theres a lack of pics of them.ThE Jarre docklands gig was great to see them used as the main backdrop.I look at the pics on 28 days later but with a film its more like being there. a splended film.Great outside shots no security cahsing you well done!love it

Makes me think dad must have walked this tour so many times; he worked there for years.

This video and your accomplishment are absolutely incredible! I'm green with envy! I do have one question, though. What was that boat that you filmed outside the building? Fascinating!

It's interesting to see inside these places - a shame though that it's neighbour, the gigantic CWS mill was demolished - would definately have wanted to take a look inside that place - if ever a building was designed to look sinister and gloomy. Sadly I reckon Millenium Mills will also bite the dust in the near future.
