Okay bumping Legion up on my TBR! I am just now getting into the fall mood since we just went to the beach for 2 weeks. It is still fairly warm here but the mornings are cool!

Yes! I've only watched one episode of the show and read a few short stories so I can't compare on how similar (or not) they are.

I looove your sweater! This video single-handedly got me through a ton of dish washing. I also rewatched your autumn refs from last year! Thank you! 😂😄❤️ I have recently got to go to a few thrift stores and thought of you while digging through the books. Maybe I watch too many of your videos?! Ha! I’m also loving LFL’s! I’m very intrigued by Shirley Jackson (recently read part of her memoir on raising children- pretty funny), Father Brown, and want to give Goosegirl another chance. Have you tried Sweet & Spicy tea from Good Earth? I think it’s a good one even non-tea drinkers may like?

    • @ChantelReadsAllDay

It really is the perfect autumn sweater, it's going to be hard to not wear it every single day for the next few months. 😊
Haha, I love that you think of me while thrifting for books. I feel like I have done my job well!
I have tried Sweet & Spicy, it's one of my husband's favorites and it's better than most tea but still hasn't completely won me over.

I read the whole Anne of Green Gables series to my older two girls. We all enjoyed the whole series, some books more than others. This video gives me great ideas for my oldest. She likes sci-fi and mystery. Me, not so much on the sci-fi, so I have a hard time finding clean books for her in that genre. I have more of your videos to watch... 😁

I watched a few episodes of the Father Brown tv show and liked them, so the book is on my tbr!
I'm now interested in Shirley Jackson, but the word "horror" makes me hesitant to pick it up. Are her stories very scary?
I checked out The Haunting at Bonaventure Circus from the library and can't wait to start it!
I like the cover for The Strangers

    • @ChantelReadsAllDay
      @ChantelReadsAllDay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

The short stories of Shirley Jackson's that I have read aren't scary. The ones I've read have generally only been about 10 pages and things seem pretty normal until right at the end, which I still wouldn't call scary, more like "woah, didn't see that coming".

Currently trying Anne of Green Gables based on your recommendation! Legion sounds interesting and maybe a good starting book for trying Brian Sanderson? Some of his other books you've talked about seem like a huge commitment when I'm not sure if I'll enjoy the genre.

I have read some of Father Brown Books and I have really enjoyed the ones I have read. I also have read some of Agatha Christie Books as well too. I have all of the Books in Anne Of Green Gables Series - I have read Anne Of Green Gables.
My County Library has New Books that they have listed on their Website - I went to the County Library which is 15 minutes from where I live at - I picked up my three Books that was put on Hold and 4 Real Magazines as well too. Two of the Books I finished reading and I am reading my third book from my County Library called Lalani of the Distant Sea by Erin Entrada Kelly. This is like a Middle Grade Book. It is really good. I am really enjoying this book.
I put 4 more books on hold this morning through my County Library. They will be coming in within a day or two and I can go pick them up.
I love going to my County Library and getting my Books - Audio Books - Magazines - CD’s - Graphic Novels - they have everything there at my County Library. I mostly get Physical Books and Magazines. I can keep them for three weeks with two Renewals as long as there is not a wait on them.
Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️📖🔰📚❤️

A favorite of mine (for Autumn) has been "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyers. What is super fun is now my Daughter is reading it aloud and so we are Reading it together. But, something about it has always given me Fall vibes. Perhaps it is all the wet/rain she so hates that I so love (Oregonian that I am). I also enjoy a Jane Austen in the fall (usually Emma, Sense and Sensibility, or Pride and Prejudice). Those are my top two oldies. This year, I am feeling a sci-fi vibe so I am going to be reading "Elantris" and I am leaning towards either "War breaker" or maybe "The Martian (which would all be re-reads). Maybe, I will find something new..but definitely feeling sci-fi vibes fore this Autumn.

    • @ChantelReadsAllDay

@@ChantelReadsAllDay It was my first Brandon Sanderson ever. I love the political intrigue and the mystery elements and the world he created in it. Though, I think the Mistborn series is my favorite so far. I haven't read Sci-fi much lately....unless Jurassic Park counts...and it doesn't feel sci-fi to me...hubby said it is was. Anyway ... rambling!

I plan to read it aloud to my kids ranging 6months, 4 years old, 6 years old, and 8. We are doing a unit study on Canada and so I thought that would be perfect time to introduce Anne Shirley. I would say from memory the whole series is pretty kid friendly. I read them when I was a teenager and loved them.
