I feel like star was in the wrong in this episode. Tom was willing to compromise in order to make sure Star had a good time but Star refused to at least humor his attempts at being friendly at least. I would be upset too if someone I cared about didn't understand my beliefs or trouble i went threw for them. This is why i don't think Star should be dating, she's too immature to take it seriously. She needs time to sort herself out.
Can you imagine what Star would be like if she did hit it off with Tom, to be honest I think the boy is a bad influence on her especially when standing next to Marco who's sort of like her ancor.
