This is so clear and comprehensive, thank you! I love playing as a mage, but warriors have been hard for me to understand, they require such a different approach.

Alistair is one of the best written companions in Origins with some of the best dialogue, so a guide like this is essential to maximise his usefulness. In the olden days, he and my Human Noble were a veritable shield-wall of frontline fighters; if they weren't Grey Wardens I like to think they would've still been brothers.
With the recommended bug fixes and mods, I would like to implement them as safely as possible. The choice us between Steam and GOG, and so far GOG has the superior word of mouth and I hope that version proves compatible with these mods.

Really like your content. Do you play Da2 or Inquisition? If so I'd be really interested in your builds for the characters in those games.

I do play all 3 games in the trilogy, though DA2 is my least favorite due to the combat so I only play it on Easy or Normal at best. Due to that I don't feel comfortable making combat related guides for DA2 since I just don't have the experience to share. However, I have already made builds for Cassandra and Varric in Inquisition, and plan on making more starting with January!

will you be making guides for da 2 and da i ?

@@spidimarcin300 I'm definitely making guides for Inquisition (already have one for Varric and Cassandra). I'm likely not making them for DA2 since I really don't enjoy the combat of that one and thus only play the game on casual or normal at most.

I still struggel with the damadge spikes throughout the game. Im playing on standard and my Alistair is keeling over so friggin fast. I think its due to his equipment but im not very sure. I dont really want to do a min/max for him but every fight is a test of my skills -.-

The game is still pretty hard for new players, so I highly recommend you put it on Easy difficulty to reduce the amount of damage enemies do by a little bit. It won't actually be "easy" by any means. Some fights especially are meant to be harder than most no matter what. I highly recommend crafting a lot of lesser health poultices for Alistair, and also getting the Heal spell on Morrigan or whatever mage you're using in the party in order to keep Alistair (and your other characters) healthy.

@btiermutineer well i finished on normal but i lost some hair in the process ^^ I still dont know how to make enough money to get all the gear that is presented in some online guides ...if i want have all the good gear as i need for like hardcore game i need like 2000G i know there is a way to make money as presented in the wiki - but i dont want to craft llike 20000 flasks to get all the gold....in my pov the goldgain is not really good.

Unrelated, but were you able to fix this games memory leak problems? I did all the recommended things, but still had to restart the game every 2 hours. It got pretty annoying. I really wish we could get a remaster, especially with controller support on PC.

@@JuliusKingsleyXIII I use the LAA patch and mostly have no issues. The only times the game crashes more often are during the final main quest battling the darkspawn, but only in some areas. You can follow my guide to install the 4gb/LAA patch.
I also heard that there's a mod on NexusMods that's supposed to fix the memory leak entirely (something called Performance and Memory Leak Fix - DXVK), but I keep forgetting to install it. However, I've had multiple people tell me on the DAO subreddit that it worked for them.

@btiermutineer I believe I have followed your guide to the letter and also have installed that mod in Nexus, but my issues continue. Either Ive missed something or Im just unlucky. I hear conflicting reports about whether or not the issues are truly fixable.
