  • It’s time to unlock some extra horsepower from the little 135bhp K-series engine by installing a Kmaps ECU and a Pipercross air filter.
    Products used:
    Kmaps ECU: www.kmaps.co.uk
    Pipercross air filter: www.thepipercrossshop.co.uk/p...
    You can also pick up the ECUs and air filters from MGR Leeds (which is where I got mine from). You can find them on Facebook by searching for “MGR Leeds UK” or contact them by email: mgr.leeds.uk@gmail.com.

    Another useful video looking forward to seeing the results, will be fitting this upgrade soon, thanks for the news about the gas struts, keep up the good work. Cheers

    I have fitted a universal carbon fiber enclosed pod filter on my F, that has an induction hose straight to the side intake scoop on the passenger side, sounds awesome and is still kind of enclosed to help protect it from heat soaking a little in that hot engine bay. Also upgraded the muffler and cat. Planning on a kmaps ECU but I will have to get a pre-mapped one sent to Australia. Once I hear back from them I will probably order. The exhaust crackle on overrun is the cherry on top

    Just watched your video again, great stuff. Can I ask a non related question. I noticed you have a perspex wind deflector. can i ask how you rate them and are they riged when driving at speed

    • @theMGTF
      @theMGTF  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It definitely does the job. Although I’ve never had any other kind of wind deflector to compare against. I’ve driven on the motorway at 70 with the roof down and not had any issues though. I did, however, put some rubber washers around the screws to stop it squeaking when it moves with the wind.

    One other mod is to move the front pipe from the air box and reroute it to the side vent to get cold air

    • @theMGTF
      @theMGTF  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d looked into doing that, but came across differing opinions on how well that works. Have you done it yourself?

    • @Xorue
      @Xorue 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@theMGTF yes. As well as blanking off the back pipe as that draws in warmer air above the exhaust. Also have scoops to help draw in air. Dyno’d with SAWStuning and found gains.

    Thanks for the informative video, could I ask if you still have a standard exhaust fitted as I am reading that remapping should be done after fitting any exhaust upgrade?

    • @theMGTF
      @theMGTF  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. It’s got an MGOC Supersports exhaust fitted.

    I hope you clipped the hood down. As it would appear you clipped the “parcel shelf” down and then just tapped the hood back down!!! Also. It would be advisable to disconnect the battery before disconnecting the ECU. If you used a spanner, there would be no need to move the speaker bar. Good informative video.

    • @theMGTF
      @theMGTF  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great tip on disconnecting the battery, thanks. I didn’t disconnect mine when I swapped the ECU over and haven’t noticed any issues since. I’ll make sure I do that next time though! 🙏

    Interested to know, since you've done these upgrades, what difference you've experienced?

    • @theMGTF
      @theMGTF  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The throttle is more responsive and a slight increase in power. No pops and bangs from the exhaust, but that’s possibly down to the exhaust and the map that’s on it. You can get maps that make more pops and bangs, if that’s your thing. I’ll be honest it’s very subtle on mine, but I’m still glad I did it.

    How much of a difference is the air filter change? Is it worth doing in general? Or just doing when required. Thanks :)

    • @theMGTF
      @theMGTF  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No noticeable difference if I’m honest. I’d just change it when required 👍

  • @theMGTF

    The ECU and filter were both supplied by MGR Leeds UK. The ECU is £220 plus a surcharge for the ECU, which you get back if you send the old one back to them. The pipercross filter is £35.00 for the pp1555. They’re offering a £20 discount if you buy both from them. Just mention this video and @theMGTF to claim your discount. You can email them at mgr.Leeds.uk@gmail.com or find them on Facebook at m.facebook.com/MGR.leeds.uk/?ref=notif&paipv=1

    • @theMGTF
      @theMGTF  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a noticeable improvement in throttle response and a slight increase in power. The exhaust also pops when you take your foot off the accelerator, but not too loud. Plan is to do a driving video later this year 👍

    Any difference of the sound after fitting the Pipercross?

    • @theMGTF
      @theMGTF  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you’d probably need a cone filter for that. Problem with doing that is you’d be sucking in warm air from the engine bay, so you might experience a loss of power. It would sound better though, so depends what you’re after…

    • @lewisclarke1850
      @lewisclarke1850 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theMGTF does the standard filter not suck warm air from the engine bay anyway?

    • @theMGTF

      MGF (except Trophy) has smaller filter box (268mm X 108mm). Has Pipercross this panel sizes? TF and Trophy F are 294x143
      I recommend @Andrew Bailey look for a TF filter box + Pipercross and a 52mm throttle body, you'll find big difference in your MGF
