- Horse Trekking in Svaneti, Georgia through beautiful mountains. This was a bucket list item for us!
When we got here, we started enquiring right away, our new friends Indira and Saltanat decided to come as well.
Our guesthouse owners put us in touch with a friend of a friend they knew that did tours. Turns out he was the biggest 'cowboy' in Georgia.
He basically didn't give a hoot. Things started to go badly straight away, and ended in disaster.

So sorry you had such a bad experience! I think the horses’ mood was affected by the terrible guide. I’ve read that horses are very sensitive to their handlers’ behavior.

Happy to see ya in Georgia. Make a next stop in Racha region, the region from where wine Khvanchkara is (semi sweet red wine). You should see the Shaori lake, then the nature of Utsera, Shovi.. Many other places. Awesome views, different local cuisine.. Have a nice trip ✌️✌️

sorry about the experience you had with that greedy horse rental man...if they have some kind of place where you can write a few words, don't hesitate and give them a bad review with the name and surname of the man (it would be a great warning for others traveling there). We posted our first travel video and three more will follow in the next days (all from Prague). I've had my footage sitting on my computer for a while and watching creative travelers like you, brought back my editing lust. So big thumbs up for that! (-: and wow riding with those guys, especially without safety instructions, is very daring of you, Julia.

That's a little bit of a common traite in Georgia, something goes wrong and they still make you pay.
I left hotel early because of chaotic noise all night, still made me pay for days I wasn't there. Was taken on a ride for a treck, wrong location, still made me pay

Also what's the policy in Georgia regarding the tour guides not fulfilling the entire service, like your tour guide? Is there anyone to report him to? I mean horses can be very sensitive and it could have thrown her off much harder and she could have been hurt much worse. Anyway happy to see you guys made it through!

Yeah, she was very lucky, not the horses fault at all, she was just spooked, totally the guide as far as we were all concerned 😊

A common experience for foreigners in Georgia.
I knoooow, that was so annoying! On the way back everyone said to me that he is going to do that 100% and I was like "nope, how could he!". Hahaha, yeah, I won't be so sure anymore 😂

Shame the horse tour didn't go well. There should have been at least some tips for handling the horses. Those animals can be formidable to deal with sometimes!

Drunk driver, excited horses, dangerous structures.... I'm not sure if to get excited or worried on more adventures to come hahaha next week video "So we decided to climb Mount Everest where more than 300 people have died..." hahahaha be safe guys, we have horses tours here in PR but I have never gone to one cus i always feel bad on putting y weight on their backs, I see horses as giant dogs hahaha so I prefer to walk with them and pet them as dogs hahaha. But hey we can go if you want to. They have the proper saddle and full walk through on what to expect, and what to do if anything. But for what I have been told they are already trained and you pretty much have to do nothing they take you to the whole route go back to their shed and wait for you to get off and then they eat haha. Be safe you two!!!

When I was 6 years old, my parents took me on a horse trek up a mountain in Colorado. I found it pretty terrifying and the horse could DEFINITELY tell that I didn't know what I was doing/wouldn't listen to me. I definitely think I was too young to be doing that with no experience. NEVER AGAIN.

@@MattandJulia These are lovely people but at the same time some of them are predators and they live in their own world and we are not a part of it. So they dont feel any moral obligations towards us. They can be kind to us like we are sometimes kind to animals but we also exploit, kill and eat animals as we wish.
The old system of local authority there was destroy by "civilized" government that "elects" its own authority that has little respect in eyes of locals. So there is noone to apply for a fair deal in case of dispute. Unless its some crime the locals know will not be ignored.
So u have two options - to pay of start a fight. But they know - u are not there to start a fight but to have a great time.
The horses were in very bad condition. I would have refused to contribute towards their bad treatment. It was unsafe too and hard hats should be worn.

Ah Guys... The Georgians are shooting themselves in the foot. Problem is, there's always another foreigner waiting to go horse riding after you. You also wont get much support from the Police. Georgia for Georgians. I do love it there tho. Hows your pollution experience been?
The thing is we have heard a few stories, but we have always (until then) been treated amazingly. We weren't sure if it was possibly as we can speak Russian though as opposed to doing everything in English, perhaps that makes people think of you as less of a 'cash cow'. But then again, after this tw*t our theory has shot out the window 😀
The pollution in Tbilisi is heavy sometimes but overall a lot better than Yerevan where we are now 😬
