Here's 17-year-old Jennifer Kim playing Miguel Llobet's Variations on a Theme by Sor (also known as La Folia or Les Folies D'Espagne) on a fantastic 1965 Ignacio Fleta classical guitar. Recorded live at the Guitar Salon International showroom in Santa Monica, CA.

I was very fortunate to see her at a Parking masterclass when she she was 9 years old. It was unbelievable then. She even played a piece Parkening did not know . I approached her teacher and studied with him for some time. He helped me a lot. She is a great wonderful performer.

Her touch is the most nimble I've ever seen; can you imagine what her highest potential will be like? Especially like her harmonics played only with her left hand.
Just an amazing performance. Not just the technical brilliance but a lot of mature musicality there as well. She appears to have very small hands but manages the stretches and as usual, her tremolo is without equal. Very entertaining stuff.
I can't adequately express how I feel about Jennifer's artistry...when I win the lottery I will hire her for a private concert!!!

The harmonic passage was outstanding but when Madame decided to retire her right hand, Seconds later I was blown away. Over the past couple years I’ve progressively worked hard on two similar classical guitars yet I now feel and even regard that I have not wasted time but have not sincerely decided to at least visit the realms of where this diligent exponent of the art dwells…..

I am so impressed with the agility of the fingers of your left hand...they must be strong to so precisely run the fretboard, and the stretches you are able to do are remarkable! Your harmonics being played also with your left hand proves that your touch is also light and nimble. I never heard your music before but you are superb!

In Spain it is called La Folia; in France it is known as the Folies d'Espagne; in Italy, La Follies; and in England, Farrinol's Ground. Most musicologists consider this to be the oldest remembered musical theme in Western Music with more than 150 composers writing their own variation of La Folia over the course of more than 500 years!
There are two versions of the theme: a fast version from 15th C Spain (Folia Rodrigo Martinez) and the slower theme in Dm, written by French composer Jean Baptiste Lully in the 1670s.
Lully’s version went viral in Europe with Bach, Vivaldi, A. Scarlatti, Beethoven, Liszt, Correlli, Marais, Sanz, Sor, Guiliani, Farrinel, Guillot, Ponce, etc., composing their own variation. And here we are hundreds of years later, and the music still resonates deep within our soul - a magic carpet ride that transports us to a higher plane of consciousness and connects us with times past..
