Some how i came to understand what the film tries to tell. first a lonely and talented men with promising future is lured in the name of marriage and was trapped in a family life. he wanted to escape and just decided to stay because of his love for an unworthy girl then tries to leave again after realizing that she is hopeless. meanwhile he tries to show his world but she can't see. later he decides to stay for his child but he is not needed anymore, now all his belongings will be hers. the same will be repeated again and again in that family forever and thats their way of living. so realitic, im glad i was able to see through this....
No, he wouldn't. It's like the movie Strangers and a couple of others when the villains are teens. People want the victims to fight back, it doesn't matter if it's teens as long as it's self-defense.

I don't think so. Sisyphus was dead and paying for something he did. The woman in the dunes did not want to leave even though she could. This seems to be another take of "the wrong turn".
This movie is a superficial take of Abe Kobo's 1960s novel "The Woman in the Dunes" which provides a profound insight into the nature of freedom and our place in society.
3:52 "He wants to return home, to his work". Made me laugh. Yup, that's everybody's dream - Going to work. Sorry, but if your work is the reason of your existence, then you're better off living out your life at the bottom of a canyon with a decent-looking woman.
That man could only exist in this film. He would have naturally returned to his car after encountering the kid that was not lost. Those guys should have been taken-out, especially after killing the girl. The ending was terrible.
Silly remake of the 1964 classic "Woman of the Dunes" (砂の女, Suna No Onna, "Sand Woman"). The original movie is in top 100 movies of all times. The favorite movie of Andrey Tarkovsky too.
The synopsis of this Caruso-esque tale leaves me wanting only a stable canoe and an iron will to portage to the very next shore from which there is no reply, upon reaching verdant village
This is a version of a 1964 Japanese film called “Woman in the Dunes” based on a book by Kobo Abe. The 1964 film is more existential and less horrific.
@@freshcity read what i wrote again but this time don't rush, take your time and read slowly and carefully and make sure you use the left side of your brain to compare and contrast then maybe, you will get the jerk.
Its similar to that Chinese movie where the guy explores a mountain she gets stuck in a large sand pit where a woman lived . Turned out to be a science experiment from the villagers.
This is a great analogy for actual marriage and what women do to men. Deceit, lies, being used, and then a slow painful loveless existence and imprisonment and death once you have been force hooked with a child (that is likely not even yours nowadays)....
