Oprah Winfrey, global media leader and philanthropist, spoke to the Class of 2008 at Stanford's 117th Commencement on June 15, 2008. Winfrey drew on experiences from a career that began in 1976 when she co-anchored a television newscast, and she shared three lessons about feelings, failure and finding happiness.

I have been watching this video over 50th times. At the first time when Im watching this one , I couldnt understand well. But now I can understand better than before. I still dont get some part, but I ll keep watching it. And the part I most like is when she said " The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody cant take that from away you"
I m struggling to study English everyday. I ll not give up when Im learning something, I ll make it mine.

You are right Oprah that you mean look inside and trust your instinct and intuition. Accept the warning signs. Good lesson. I always feel my situation that it is not right. It is not Ok. And more I am patient and the more it gets worse. When I trust my feelings, It is right decision to avoid bad situations.
    Thank you Oprah.

I am a sixty year old U.S.C., U.C.L.A. graduate. I listen to this speech often and I learn something new from one of the most successful black women in history.
I remember from my speech classes before many of you were born, the first part of a speech is to get peoples attention, usually with comedy. It is appropiate to focus on Kirby because she is a 2008 Standford graduate and Oprah godchild. I find what Oprah said relative funny. I mean "sort of."
Who just "sort of" know Oprah

James you should be so lucky. Sir an education from this school is excellent! May I suggest Hal Urban. The author's book is truly inspirational. James once you read it. Surely you will understand that life has many lessons attached to it. I learned much from this book. As Oprah mentioned we live in the "me" generation. You can share your talents in so many ways with society. Truly if you can survive this school. Your skill sets and education can be of much value to all! Good luck.

If I remember correctly from forty years ago when I studied speech, the first part of a speech is to get peoples attention. Its appropriate to talk about Curby since she is a graduate of the class 2008.
OPRAH business is talking, although how elegant. Have you notice that most commencement speakers are wealthy and heavy philantropists. Its expensive to attend Stanford, however , Oprah probably have made contributions to help maintain the status of that University.
