It should be noted that if you break out of prison, you are still going back if the police catches you, as you still have a prison sentence to serve. You just won’t be charged with an ADDITIONAL crime.
True
So in other words: breaking out of prison is not a crime?
@@ianover6838 in those countries yes
True, except its almost impossible to break out without taking out a guard or destructing property. So you'd most likely get additional time for that.
Common sense bud
Now I understand why so many crimes shows have Yellowstone National Park theme in common
Why would I want to break out of my country’s prisons? It’s literally better than my house! For Sweden!
real
People will bury or hide bodies there, since a lot of people don't go there and the animals just feast on the corpse.

Seriously, if you can walk out of the building, without stealing the prison clothes, without being nude, without stealing other clothes, without destroying anything, and without hurting anyone.
That is on me for failing to imprison you.
In Sweden there are low safety prisons where you have knives to cook with, the possibility to run a track during the day. It's very easy to escape a prison like that
@@Sebastian123 Same in minimum security prisons in the US. At least the ones in my state. You even get to leave to go to work. Normally you have to be in a medium security prison for at least a year to get reclassified to minimum though.
There are prisons like this yes. The US only has doghouses for prisons but many other countries specifically in Europe have low security prisons.
Prisoners are sent to work for money to buy food inside the prison, they do lots of manual labour jobs and it’s much cheaper to get a prisoner to do it rather than a full time employee. So they need proper PPE, construction tools, trucks come and go etc. very easy to just walk out the front. But they don’t because they understand the prison system is there to help them. This is mostly for petty crimes, obviously people who are mentally unstable and dangerous are locked up in high security prisons. But sometimes people who have committed murders and served most of their sentence in high security can be upgraded to low security
@@MyNameIsSaloupgraded???
@@GewelReal I would consider it so, yes. One is better than the other.
Two more! Cannibalism is legal as long as you don’t kill the person you are eating and they consent to it, there is also no minimum drinking age at all in nz (probably shouldn’t give a toddler beer or something though)
I think in most countries the law would state that no sane person can consent to getting eaten. So it probably doesn't work.
Unless you are in the state of idaho. Idaho has specific legislation banning cannibalism.
Yeah Nz is great, just cant buy until 18 but oh well
In Germany it’s not illegal to break out of prison but it is illegal to take the prison uniform
German logic right there.

Don't misunderstand people.
If you break out in Sweden your original sentence won't be dismissed. So if you're caught you'll just be put back to finish your sentence.
But unlike in other countries, trying to break out won't get you any extra charges or extra time.
As far as I understand, crimes committed during your break out include things like taking your robe with you (it's a proper of the state), so it's unlikely to attempt breaking out of prison without committing any subsequent crimes, even if it only relies on existing security breaches
Sweden doesn’t have states so it wouldn’t be property of the state but it will still considered as stealing
@@nabra97 that is true.
will it be put to "pause" or will it continue as if you were in the prison? will you just be free if you hide long enough you would've finished the sentence?
@@lostyawolferit will be paused and you might lose possibility for parole

That’s crazy. I feel like these things should definitely be illegal.
nah, my parents always allowed me wine and other stuff during holidays or birthdays, my european grandma gave me and my cousin beer when we were 10. none of us are alcohol addicts. it should actually be normalized in USA too, yall would have less alcoholics. my closest friend never drank until 18 (official legal age here to drink) and she's god awful at taking alcohol, i even had to carry her home drunk as a skunk and she made a huge habit of this for a while.

Just like running away from fear if Police chases you which why running away from police is legal too in Germany
It is true but it may not be practical when trying to deter prisoners from escaping.
@@someperson9998I think it should be the prisons responsibility to make sure that they can't escape, it's basically their fault that the security is lacking if they manage to do so.
Also escape attempts give valuable information on how to prevent them in the future.

A prisoner in Kansas once successfully argued that his jailbreak wasn't illegal since there was no law against it. After that, Kansas specifically passed a law to make it illegal, closing the loophole forever.

The theory behind the Zone of Death, for those who don't know, is that the Constitution mandates that juries be assembled from the State _and_ District where the crime took place. The issue is that in Yellowstone, district borders cross state lines, meaning there are areas of the park within the District of Wyoming, but not within the State of Wyoming. And in those areas, juries must be assembled from within those areas to meet the "State and District" standard. And since the area in Idaho is uninhabited, the theory says, no jury, no trial.
That said, a man was tried in the District of Wyoming for poaching in the Montana section of Yellowstone. He did argue the State and District point, but the argument was dismissed, and he took a plea bargain saying he wouldn't appeal the issue any further.
It’s the Zone of Death, not the Zone of poaching! 😂 But seriously, it’s always been an interesting legal argument, but it’s a Federal park. I wouldn’t expect a real Federal court to uphold jurisdiction shopping but for murder inside US jurisdiction.
It’s like the Bunk says: murder stay murder.
The DA really went to that guy and was like “I will give you a better sentence if you promise me you don’t make me have to be associated with the stupidest Supreme Court case in history”
It felt like LBM went over this a bit too quickly and an assumption. If I remember right (Tom Scott video?) the one that found the technicality has tried to get the legislative powers to change it but to no avail.
I’m from Michigan.
Police departments regularly set up sting operations at places that sell Tobacco, Marijuana, and Alcohol products to see if vendors/stores are complying with laws and properly checking ID. The sting will always involve someone between 16-20 years old going in and trying to buy. An undercover officer is usually in very close proximity.
Is that the job the nerds got while I was flipping burgers?

In England you can drink at age 5 as long as you are with a parent or guardian
*and on private property
At 5????!!!
Yep @@dhrubnarayan914
@@dhrubnarayan914 Same in Denmark. There's no age requirement for drinking. There's one for who you can sell alcohol to, and where though. (16+ generally) And if you as a parent buy a beer at give it to your 3 year old, it probably becomes a matter of child abuse of some kind.
So it's not like kids can go to the local super market, buy a 30-pack of beer and get wasted on the nearest beach or park. (The rest of us can, though.)
no wonder fetal alcohol syndrome so common

Also to add, in Germany (no I'm not German and yes I know LBM talked about Sweden) you can't steal anything, that includes clothes (that were provided by the prison) and if you're caught, you have to return back to prison to serve the rest of your sentence. So think of it as escaping in November for a 3 month holiday.

Selling to minors is the illegal thing. At least in my country.
I thought at Passover or something the kids gotta partake in the wine? So, there must be religious exemptions. Maybe also in Caribbean religions with the herbal stuff.
@@timothyjones3410at least in most of the US it's illegal to SELL alcohol to minors, but it's not illegal for parents to give alcohol to minors (within reason)
@@Rhudvdmdirno it’s not. I remember being a minor and kids getting busted at parties and getting charged with public intoxication of a minor; minor in possession of alcohol (which, under this law, just consuming the alcohol counts as being in possession of it); and they have a zero tolerance policy for driving under the influence, so even if you had a .01 BAC, the minor would get charged with a DUI.
Source: I grew up in Michigan, was an alcoholic in Michigan who started drinking very young, and got a DUI at age 18. (For what it’s worth, I’ve been sober for over 15 years now, living in California 😊 but I was a train wreck when I was younger lol)

The justice system profits from illegal activity, both publicly and behind closed doors. Within this system, there is LOTS of money exchanging hands when you and i are irresponsible. They would also love for you to believe that you cannot represent yourself in court, that you always need a lawyer. I've spent most of my life in and out of the courtroom and not for my own goddamn crime and I can tell you that for as much as I've seen in the inside, the judicial system is extremely broken. Now more than ever before, you do not want anybody to commit a crime around you where you might actually be involved. On either end.
He's literally done a video on representing yourself in court. While legally you can, it's not a good idea - you really have to know what you're doing

Drinking with your family is pretty normal outside of here in America and Canada because it can help establish healthy drinking habits, also they drink wine at meals a lot more.
is it just me or was there a scene after "gbest dad ever" that was "best father ever"
The big thing for Yellowstone is that when you’re being tried for a crime, you’re entitled to a jury of people _that live in the relative area._ (I forget what measurement they use to determine this - likely by some sort of state or district divisions.) The loophole comes in since there’s no people living in that area/district, so a jury can’t be formed, and the case (in theory) would have to be thrown out.
In England, if you are over 5 years old it is legal to drink full pints of alcohol at home or other private premises
fun fact, in kentucky, its perfectly legal for children to drink alcohol as long as they arent the one purchasing it. in fact, ive seen it in public. some restaurants have their own rules about it, but its generally just frowned upon. we even have some restaurants that permit smoking to this day down south!
