Panhead pt 2 : Finally got the rear fender mounted, sissy bar built and the king and queen seat done! Been hard to make time because work has been so busy lately but trying to pump out what I can!

Not sure I'm digging that monster sissy bar but respect the fact this is your build so your work is what counts not my preference. Nice work man.

I'm confused about something. After 4 decades of riding, I finally finished a complete chopper build a few years ago. I taped a piece of rubber tubbing to the tire when I built my fender mounts. It all looked great until I hit highway speeds. The tire expanded and burned the paint on my fender. I guess the rubber tube was too small.
I see you didn't use anything... just had the wheel a little more forward than your desired running position. How much room did you leave? I'm working on another build now, and don't want to run into the same problem.

I don't typically leave a huge amount of room for tire clearance, I would say somewhere around a 3/4in. Fitment changes on different fenders and sissy bar setups though. I usually fold up some microfiber towels and tape them to the wheel in two spots to hold the fender square and adjust from there. Just a typical chain over the tire works well for spacing too, I always set the wheel forward as well just to give enough clearance when adjusting the chain tension. Hope this helps, Thanks for watching!
