  • In this video we show 2 option to defend against a knife attack from behind.
First, against any weapon consider running away as your first option.
If you can't run, give the attacker what they want.
If you can't give him what he wants consider these options.
First technique: Defending against a knife to your neck, hostage variation.
Second technique: Defending against a knife to your chest, ice pick variation.
DISCLAIMER: Please, do not attempt these techniques at home. Sign up to a certified school and learn from a qualified instructor.

The first technique is sound enough but when you are behind them the situation is FAR from over, if you do not drill with live resistance and grapple with training knives you will never be prepared to use this in a fight. After you twist their arm behind their back what next? Regarding the second technique do not push away so much, for example at 4:23 and 6:36 you will not get your second hand on the knife, they will pull away and you will get stabbed. I recommend you give your student a training knife and ask him to stab you for real from standing and on the ground while engaged in live grappling, if you don't you are simply learning kata.

These are not the most common. In so tired of people showing the same defenses.. why not show a video of you trying to avoid an attack from the front but when you turn around to leave someone is right behind you and as soon as you turn around they stab you. And no the person behind you doesn't have their hand on your shoulder
