Do you think either beastmode or Rlaarlo could be convinced to make a carbon fiber or aluminum top brace with a recessed section below the fan opening to place a Mamba 8s in the area of the fan? It could stick out the top of the body slightly with no issue. I was measuring it last night and it seems doable. It would let me place the stock receiver box in front of the motor and run my TP 4040 single motor. What do you think? I know a manufacturer would listen to you and make one if you liked the idea and saw a market for it. I know quite a few guys who would buy one and put it on TH-cam! Thanks, Greg
How do I tap the screws if I turn the slider upside down? The aluminum seems soft and it seems the screws can’t go quite as deep? Correct? Do I take to a local machine shop to tap the threads or can I do it properly at home? My builds are coming together for next year. Ordered a PPS mount for my 917 and will use the reversed Rlaarlo mount for my 787 build. I learn a little each time. I hope the Rlaarlo bigger scale project is going well.

I want a very safe charger as I will charge batteries in my garage on a concrete floor with me present all the time I am charging! I have the dual motor as well. Did you have any problems with the gyro out the box? I can’t accelerate without the car steering left and right all over the place I even changed the gyro and that didn’t help. Any suggestions?
Yes the Rlaarlo gyro needed some adjustments out of the box to get it to work properly. Looking at the gyro from above, with the 3 dials along the bottom of the gyro, the left dial has to be adjusted to the middle of its range, the center dial full counter clockwise, the right dial full clockwise then turn back 1/8 of a turn. There is also a button that reversed the gyros corrective steering as well on the left side. Try these settings if it still does the same thing, then press that button one time and test again
The motors are just getting started in this build, on 3s they aren’t even close to being maxed out yet. It will do 150 on the current setup after I fix the broken wing mount But the limiter right now are the esc’s. I’ll be swapping them out for something that will work better for this car. The new esc’s are on their way to me now
I keep burying them in the leaves 😂 they should all be cleared off the road in a couple weeks but it’s just gonna keep getting colder. Maybe I’ll get a couple more passes

Hey Shawn! I am looping around after buying a Habao aftermarket mount for my TP 4040 cars (2). I bought a drill and tap set and didn’t have luck with it. The tap was longer on the front beyond the thread cutting teeth by 3mm meaning the holes need to be 3 mm longer than you need the screw to go in. I drilled one and just couldn’t go deep enough so scrapping making my own from Rlaarlo mounts. Are you sure the Scorched Parts Habao mount will work? Do you just use the one plate or do you mount the second plate and tie together with the top plate? It seems strongest to use the entire mount and just not put a bearing in the second plate? Are you sure that mount works? I would hate to buy it and find it doesn’t work. If it works, it would be sweet! Also, does the stock Habao Mount require a shim? liberty said yes but I thought you said no? It seems without a shim would be less flimsy? Sorry to circle around to this question. Liberty said the Habao mount was flimsy but he was also trying to use a TP4070 motor if I recall correctly. That would need a substantial mounting system!
I don’t think the scorched mount will work. It’s going to be too tall. I recommend order the stock hobao vte2 motor mount since I knows it’s the correct height for the bearing to fit the input shaft. You’ll needs 5x16x5 bearing for the hobao mount They make a newer thicker mount from hobao but even the original one would work for smaller motors
Maybe Yiu can help me... I'm running a 4060 in my Typhon on a monster mamba 8s. It's doing 119mph now and showing 285amps. As per the spec of the motor this is the motor limit on power. I geared up 2 teeth and it ran the exact same speed and amp draw? Will this motor simply not draw any more amps no matter how much I gear it? I'm thinking of building a little RC car dyno to do power runs on and measure everything with the cat on tje dyno just to get some reall nice data without risking the car and then going out for run to verify my assumptions.
The motor will continue to produce more power after its rated amp limit. Most of the ratings for tp motors are conservative in my opinion. What’s the cell count and gearing/tire size/diff/ kv of motor ?
Well the 917 is very stable because I was able to add the large side fins. I believe that the 787 will do 150+, but I personally am more comfortable with the 917 so far
Hi Shawn! I contacted Rlaarlo as to when they will have more 4s 3670 motors and their reply was they are discontinued. I was bummed as this seemed to be a good solution for 4s maximum. Do you have a recommendation for a 36xx 4s motor? I don’t want to rely on a bigger 6s battery for my Rlaarlo car. Do you think the TP 3640SCM 6400 KV (4s) suitable or could I ran the 3640SCM 5300 kv (6s) with a 4s battery or should it be 6s battery ? I read you should be running the battery size closer to the motors efficiency (kv). Which would you suggest between the two or does someone else have a strong 36xx motor? I want an alternative to my TP 4040 which requires a special mount and chassis mods every time. I’ve modified one chassis but wish to run high power with the stock Rlaarlo adjustable motor mount. Does this make sense?
The red 3900kv 3660 that Rlaarlo sells would be a good choice: Far as tp motors I would recommend not using a scm but stick with the regular or can models. The 3630cm 5200 would be good on 4s, Or 3640 4700 which is in this 787 dual build of mine

Okay! Thank you for commenting on the SCM. I will scratch that one off my Xmas list. It appears to me that my best options are to stick with my TP4040 SVM or play with a TP dual motor build similar to yours. @@GregoryMcGehee-ex3cl you can use the stock motor mount with a 40 size motor if you flip over the motor mount slider and drill new holes. It raises the motor up a few millimeters and keeps it from hitting the chassis

2 battery chargers are ideal. I use a spectrum smart charger and an icharger 406duo,
