I was in rehab for a bad drinking problem. I was praying for answers and then we went on an outing and the creator gifted me a buzzard feather. I knew what it was meant for because the buzzard is used for cleansing too! It soars and flies high like the eagle. We used the feather In our group just as a tribal council uses an eagle feather. When I completed the rehab the group passed around the feather and each person held it and gave me positive reinforcement to take away in the feather. This is my smudge feather
I only have a wood pigeon feather I found whilst walking in nature. Here in England we can't find the types of feathers you kindly mentioned . But I still feel good whilst using my feather so I guess I must be doing it right. Lot's of love to you.
Thank you for this video. I use feathers that have been gifted to me. I have a raven feather that was gifted to me in gratitude (I'm very fond of ravens and the feather was left by a raven who the person who gave it to me had fed). I have a great horned owl feather and a barn owl feather, both left by a tree after a spontaneous sighting of them. Two turkey feathers dropped on my son and my heads on a hike, and a goose feather I got at English Bay in Vancouver.
I was gifted three different feathers - a falcon feather (when I finished my program), a turkey vulture feather (I was gifted it by the bird when I was at the dump) and a seagull feather. I was given that feather by the spirits at the building I work at. It used to be a residential school. I asked my aunt who is Midewin why I was given them and she told me the spirits were watching over me. I started a new job last year up in Northwestern Ontario where I am originally from. I was adopted when I was younger. I started connecting with my culture when I was 18 years old. I ran away from home at that age. I use my falcon feather and then use my turkey vulture feather. I am not sure what I should do with my seagull feather. They are all in my feather holder. I also have some small eagle fluffs. :)
I have just got back to Australia after 3.5 years away and having experienced lots of spiritual development, in the last 6 weeks I have found, not one, but 5 individual Kookaburra Feathers that are so beautiful! Hello, I have found 2 owls in the last year, I'm in need of someone to discuss the best practices for honoring this bird and its sacred medicine. Can you help?
How would on be able to receive an eagle feather without belonging to a tribe? I’m wanting to really learn natural ways to create positivity within life for myself and the kids. I believe my mother in law and husband are Choctaw partially. I would love to learn about the native and indigenous culture but have no clue where to start.
I was gifted ,(through a will ) her turkey wing in box. A Zuni friend ( first time in my home) seemed shock that it was out of box and on display. He wouldn’t explain why though. Is it wrong to keep because she gifted Her fan after her death? So… anyone out there that can give true information about this beautiful gift?
Thanks for sharing! I've heard arguements from a few indigenous people that non-indigenous ppl should not burn sage (due to gaining popularity and low supply) nor the act of smudging (bc the act is a way to call upon ancestors and we do not have indigenous ancestors/ roots/ beliefs) and bc of cultural appropriation. Thoughts? Also...I've been gifted hundreds of turkey, owl, geese, duck and other feathers from my walks in the woods. My original idea was to create smudge feathers or fans but am hesitant due to above reasons. Thoughts? Thank you!
Do you have a presentation about how to obtain sage and the other sacred items? Buying them from a random retailer seems so contrived and intrusive. Coincidently, once I started to search for the correct way to do obtain these items I found an abalone shell in a pile of discarded items on the street in Los Angeles and then came across a hawk feather I had found years ago while walking. I am waiting until I find a way to obtain sage properly to begin smudging.

@@hi5_centipedes874 Hello my friend, The feather police are out there. All that needs to happen is to have a couple of the "wrong" kind of feathers hanging from your mirror when you get pulled over for a ticket and your dun. By the way, Thanks for the help with your comment on that other video. Don't be too hard on people like that. They can't help the way they feel. Life on a lot of the reservations is pretty hard. I just pray that her hatred doesn't burn her up. Until next time
If you're lucky, you can find a feather outdoors or on your nature walks or hikes. You can also respectfully source your feathers in Indigenous owned businesses since you can be sure that the feathers are taken in the most respectful way possible.
Hi Guachichil, you clearly have a lot of knowledge about traditional teachings, and practices. We appreciate your insight into this matter/topic. While we understand the traditional way of teachings is by oral lessons taught by an elder, not everyone has access to an elder or the appropriate resources. The elders in our community are more than happy to share their knowledge with anyone who is seeking it. What is more detrimental to sustaining our traditions and beliefs: maintaining only oral tradition or adapting to the world changes? We feel sharing our culture is important! If we keep our culture to ourselves, it could go extinct or be forgotten about, which is the last thing our elders would want. Times have changed and we have to adapt. We believe that the benefits of allowing people access to traditions and teachings who may not have relations or proximity to their community outweigh the downside of sticking to strictly oral tradition only.
I was gifted 2 fresh eagle feathers. The elder was confused at first because never had the elder gifted 2 feathers before except if it was mother/father and child. I'm telling this story because it shows the lengths the creator goes through to make sure everything is done correctly. So back to the story, so as I said. The elder was confused. The elder brought both feathers just in case. So as we were preparing, the elder went to get the feather and it was not where it was put. We all saw that the feather was not there. So the elder went to grab the other feather and came back with it. And by instinct the elder was compelled to checked the casing the other feather was in and there it was. Now two feathers. That was the best way for the creator to let the elder know, yes, give her 2. That's all I will say as it was a sacred ceremony but I can say. What a lightning 🌩️ storm we had afterwards. Light rain but mostly thunder and lighting. I tear up every time I think about that day. The last 3 years, in the Fall. I would stumble upon a deceased redtail hawk. Still warm to the touch, no infestations. The hawks were fresh. So I gifted them to the elders and in return, I was gifted a couple of feathers.
What type of feather do you use for smudging??
I use the eagle feather I was gifted.
If I dont have it with me I use a Turkey feather.

Tribal Trade Co - You have a lot of ignorant subscribers, you might tell them not to pluck feathers either 🤦🏻♀️
How would you be found in possession of one and who's going around raiding homes looking for feathers? 😂
Until next time
What about a pelican feather?

Where can i find these feathers.
If you're lucky, you can find a feather outdoors or on your nature walks or hikes. You can also respectfully source your feathers in Indigenous owned businesses since you can be sure that the feathers are taken in the most respectful way possible.

These are sacred practices that shouldn’t just be exposed.
It’s a business nowadays ,
i have a eagle feather thats what i use
Wow! So lucky :)
Eagles actually are low flying birds at 7.000/10.000 ft tops while hawks fly much higher at 13.000/15.000 ft
That's interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Peregrine falcon technically flys higher than Eagle
Turkey feathers.
I found a wild turkey feather.
That's so awesome, Brein! We always consider feathers we find in the wild to be a gift from the Creator. 🙏🏽❤

What tribe are you from and why do you teach non natives sacred practices
This is all BS. Content for views.. and women aren't allowed to even touch eagle feathers in some tribes.. stop your BS
Thank you for sharing your opinion! In some tribes, maybe. But not all teachings are the same. 😊
Beautiful story. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing experience with us. 🙏🏽🧡
