We have elements in our language that allows us to recognize familiar sounds in other language and mimic it, or at least learn to mimic it fast if given some time. Whether we actually understand it or not, is a different story.

My wife and I befriended this older man who spoke perfect English and really good Spanish and from time to time we would just drink enough for me to get that liquid courage and sing Miki's stay with me at the bar's karaoke hahaha good times for sure!

Does help us cope to different languages much easier, barring differences in dialect and slang depending on region. If you look at our vocabulary we have a lot of borrowed words adapted to the common nomenclature, a lot of which are usually some form of Arabic, Sanskrit and various colonist languages like British English (I'm not sure who colonized Indonesia back then so Indonesians feel free to add or correct if I'm mistaken)

i think its true, as indonesian we do have lot of way to pronounce thing, so we used to hear different way to hear a letter pronounce differently. And i believe thats lead to us easy to adapt to other language pronounciation
