MAURITIUS ISLAND TOUR ON A BUDGET: Île aux Benitiers (Mauritius Road Trip Ep. 3)

- In this video we’re going on a budget boat tour on Mauritius to the beautiful island of Île aux Benitiers. There are many boat tours available that can be quite expensive, so we wanted to try and organise the boat tour ourselves. We had heard that you can go to the dock in La Gaulette and ask the local fishermen to take you to the island by boat. We had to haggle a bit but then settled on a price that we think is pretty good for the value we got. By going on this DIY boat trip we got a private trip which also meant that we could ask our skipper to bring us to the spots that we wanted. We visited a snorkel spot, saw the popular Crystal Rock and then went to a more secluded spot on Île aux Benitiers. After our boat trip we continued our road trip to Flic en Flac where we’ll be spending a few days!

Been looking for your video for ages, we were staying in la gaulette and I kept saying this couple just wandered down to the jetty and got a rando boat across. We did just that and met Beb (Bernard) and went over after the tourists had gone home. He waited at the bar whilst we snorkelled and he was pointing everything out to us on the trip, it was awesome and Beb is such a nice fella. Loved la gaulette, will go back

Rs1500 not a bad price. Some skippers will charge upto Rs1000-Rs1200p/p or more if you’re tourists

thats the normal rate, but luckily they even went for the snorkel spot and that is because they had an additional payer coming along
Price was not to high to go ile aux benitier, locals pay almost the same for bringing and picking up

Hi, thank you! 😊 The apartment we stayed at is called "5 star Smart studio 30m2" and you can find it on Airbnb. The location is pretty good but overall we can't really recommend it, as we did have some issues with it being quite hot and damp inside the apartment 😅

Thank you! 😊 We asked the people at the dock in La Gaulette and they called the guy with the boat. You can find the dock next to the restaurant called "Liverpool Snack". We paid 1500 Rs for the trip, but the price may vary a bit depending on the conversion rate and who you are talking to 😁

@@ZoeandSimon thanks so much guys xxx took your advice and just did it this way with husband and baby. Had to really haggle and also had to negotiate a better boat for us as we have the baby, took us a while but we managed to do it and asked the captain for a quieter spot. We didn't spend too long on the island again due to the baby, but it was stunning. More beautiful than ile aux cerf. Did you manage to see this island whilst you were in Mauritius? As wanted to see what you thought of this one too? Lots and lots of love to you both xxxx also will be flying back to London tomorrow. So your prompt responses really helped and allowed us to do the boat journey this way today without having to do a long day of an excursion xxxxthanks again guys

Hi Both.. can you share some info about car rentals in Mauritius
Hi! We booked our car via a German rental car comparison site. We like these sites because they compare all offers and also take care of extra insurance. The rental company that we ended up going with is called "First Car" rental and everything went smoothly. We paid 48€/day incl. comprehensive insurance.

If you stay in a local hotel villa there is always a local entrepreneur whose prices are usually lower. Not the most modern or fast but then you're in Mauritius so chill. 😅
