    referent to the delay time, i've observed to date, that numerically it relates to whatever tempo by a factor of 8 [or 4]. in other words i can get on beat delay rhythms by setting it to 8,16,,32,,64, and backbeat on 24,48. haven't taken it further than that. was always my favorite thing to do in the analog days. it took an ear then. now, just turn the dial and find the number

      Thanks, that's helpful. A similar idea applies to the LFO's I believe.

      yes. that's true. just beginning to articulate lfo's in these machines. cenk is a revelation on filter and lfo manipulation/application

      The LFO's are what makes OT so awesome. Good luck getting that crazy with a DIGITAKT and its puny single LFO per track.

    Dark reverb, flanger and filter are great on the Octrack making it one of the best sequencer/sampler/synth boxes on the planet! Expensive but a great box. Only if it had CV in/out then it would be perfect. I have an Elektron Analog 4 so that handles analog and modular gear.

      That's exactly my approach: Analog 4 for CV / Octatrack for MIDI. Thanks for watching!

    Nice Video! The lp filtering on the Dark Reverb is really essential. Big difference.

      Yeah, I also need to spend more time with the shelf function as an alternative.

    Very nice video. Thanks. What do you think of digitak, BTW??

      Thanks for watching. I will actually publish a NAMM 2017 recap video with my thoughts on the Digitakt tonight :)

    Great videos about the Octa. Unfortunately you've recorded this one with the phases inverted. One of your cables from the machine to the recorder is twisted. Or shitie adapters :)

    • @LateNightBeatsOfficial
      @LateNightBeatsOfficial  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right. I have to investigate what caused that!

      HalutioN : You could invert one of the channels and re upload the video. I'd like to hear those effects, you know ;)

    • @alexlatelevizor
      @alexlatelevizor 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is if you still have you're comments separated. Otherwise, inverting the mix, we might not hear you if you invert a mono channel ;)

      I do, however, the phase invert is really audible only in mono. Use headphones, and you'll hear all the effects just right.

    I bought my OT like a year ago and I can't believe I haven't noticed the distortion option on the filter -_-
    thanks hahaha

      No problem. I only recently started using it, because initially I didn't like the sound of it :)

      Likewise... I had no idea of the distortion option in the filter advanced menu. Nice tutorial.

    Function+Data Entry increments by useful amounts. Delay time increments by twice the current value... but I'm still not sure what value is 16th, 8th, quarter...
    Editing a scene on-the-fly like this is tricky because Function+Scene A/B disables the scene, and the layout of the interface requires either huge hands or awkward gestures. (I wonder if the size and shape of the DigiTakt is a reaction to this problem.)

      Some good tips. Function + Knob or arrow up is super useful e.g. when changing the master scale from 16 to 64 and beyond. One thing I have to admit about the Dark Trinity is that each instrument has a sligthly different ergonomics, so you really need to develop reliable "muscle memory" when using all three of them quickly :)

    hey! great video. i actually have a question about the sample locks. how can i do this? thanks in advance

    Just one question - why do you use the dark reverb only as Send? I always use it in the Mix mode and have no problems with that. Is there any difference at all?

    • @LateNightBeatsOfficial
      @LateNightBeatsOfficial  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thanks for watching. That is actually an excellent question. I'm a bit ashamed to admit, that it became more of a habit and I haven't given it a lot of thought. The process was that, at first, I was really unhappy with the sound of that reverb and only after I switched to the "send" mode I started getting somewhere with its sound. I will investigate it tonight and try and come back with a more specific answer.

      OK, there's actually a humongous difference between MIX and SEND modes. The MIX mode, to me, seems to accentuate those slightly ugly high frequency artefacts that are inherent to low-cpu reverbs and it also seems to be adding more harmonic overtones (which is something that I try to avoid). The SEND mode sounds much tighter more focused. It's similar to my compressor settings where I really feel that the RMS mode just makes it easier to get the desirable result.

    Nice idea for a vid but the sound quality is extremely poor.

    • @LateNightBeatsOfficial
      @LateNightBeatsOfficial  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Devon, I take full responsibility for this one. There was a phase issue when recording the OT into my soundcard and because of that, when listening in mono (e.g. iPhone built in speaker) the OT disappears. When you listen with stereo headphones, you'll be able to hear it just right. I almost always check my audio's phase before publishing, but this video was an infamous exception. Thanks for watching!
