- On this how to video I'll show you how to fix if your camry would come out of park or if your brake lights won't turn on. As well if you have the #ABS, #BRAKE light on your dashboard this will go for most Toyota cars but in this video it the #Camry #2012 #2013 #2014 #2015 #2016 #2017

I’ve gotta say - this just resolved a weeks-long headache I’ve had trying to diagnose my own similar issue.
I have a 12’ Camry XLE, push start - had the same issue, and I even had to run into extremes where I had to bypass start the vehicle (hold brake and button for 15sec) and then manually shift out of park how you explained -- and while yes this worked to move the vehicle, my same three lights displayed and I lost all brake light capabilities while driving (yikes!)
So I will say my only hiccup I ran into was I pressed the brake too far in when I installed the new part (stop lamp switch) so my car was having brakes engage too much, so much my car couldn’t even roll in drive.
Took it out, re-pressed the brakes in just enough to get it to turn clock-wise in. Boom, all set!

OMG! Thank you for this direct, to the point video. So many of these "fix it videos" are basically some fool rambling forever about everything BUT what the video is supposed to be about!
Hi Scott, Great video. I was able to fix my 2012 Camry using it. I would make one recommendation. When I first I put the new switch in it was actually worse. The issue went from very intermittent to almost solid. I couldn't drive down the block without the lights coming on. In looking around on the internet I found out the little grooves in the side of the switch are for adjusting the depth of the switch in the mounting bracket, so by pushing down on the pedal when installing the switch when I let up on the pedal it was pushing the plunger all the way into the switch. I then backed out the switch and reinstalled with the pedal up doing the clockwise locking rotation when I could see the plunger protruding from the switch. I used business cards to measure how far the plunger protruded with the pedal up and found it was about 1.5 mm (about four cards thickness). It seems to be working fine now although I'm not sure the 1.5 mm is the correct number but it seems to work. Anyhow thanks again for an excellent video and please let me know if my comments do not make sense.

I have my ABS Light, Brake Light, & Traction Control (Swerve) Light on but no issue getting out of park. Is that the brake light switch that's causing it ? Thanks in advance!

@@jeffreysantiago2353 My boy who's also my mechanic scanned it recently said was the left front speed sensor..next oil change I'll probably have him swap it out cause these lights still come on periodically

@@daviedike6290 if I recall correctly it was a bad wheel speed sensor. Was an easy cheap fix.

My problem started after i replaced the PS dampener after I watched your great video. Put back together and started the engine on, but the lights, abs, traction control and the brakes lights on the dash came on solid. In addition the transmission stuck on p. After watching this great video I replaced the brake switch with new one. I,m still having the same problem. But I noticed the wires on the switch connector sre slightly stripped. I taped them, but no luck. I hope i didn't cut a wire when i replaced the dampener. Maybe the switch is defective. I try to ajust it.

Do u you know fix for p0500 with abs brake vsc and eps light on or is tied in with brake light switch or abs module. I just changed steering knuckle with bearing and wheel speed sensor and all those lights came on soon after along with check engine light

I did this with one hand as well. Guys, if you do this make sure you press the brake pedal when putting in the new switch. Press down on the new switch and turn it to the right so it locks into place. Don't just put the new switch in and lock it in. That little nub at the end of the switch has to be pressed in when the brake pedal is all the way up, or your brake lights will remain on and drain your battery.
