Ty. I love this idea. I haven't used the fabric glues because I didn't know how "permanent" they are. I had home ec in the early 80's with my brother. I had to make full outfits with buttons, zippers, and layers. He made a simple dolphin pillow that was legit 3 panels sewn together. He got an A just like I did. I would have rather made a pillow. lol.
Nice project! I made a wrap around skirt and apron in sewing home economics class. I'm likely about the same age. My brother had horticulture and woodshop class. Yes... times have changed. TFS
When I was in school, the boys always took vocational agriculture and the girls took home economics (sewing/cooking). The class after mine, girls started taking Ag and some of the football guys took consumer ed (yet another type of home economics). The guys never sewed. By the time I had a daughter, she took agriculture and even learned how to weld! I’m glad things have changed!
Thank you for sharing your technique! I am wanting to upcycle some Jean jackets that I also got form the Goodwill Bins with some vintage quilt pieces and this was so helpful! I think I want to order that fusable interfacing to use in my project too!
That’s very gorgeous and you are so clever. I’m also from the generation that had to take home economics when I was in 6th grade! Thank goodness things have come a long way since then! 😂
Thank you for sharing this video. I love the jacket . You make it look so easy. I will have to try it. You what i just thought of a great idea. I can use your tips to make an ugly sweater. For christmas every year i make a sweater. Using trim and a whole lot of other materials.
Hey Kat! Wondering if you'll be back...I need some new inspiration! I love your work and I am basing my jackets on your techniques. I do sew mine though using heat and bond lite. Please consider coming back! Glitter Power! 🤜🤛
Wow this transformation is awesome! Could you give me the link for the trim you used on the back of the jacket please?! It is so lovely. Thank you for the inspiration. ❤
Could you have lifted the patterned material up so it came above the waistband, and fitted the top edge of the back panel? p.s. love this idea, will make with pic of my siamese cat!
Heat and Bond ultra hold is what she used. I like Steam 2 Steam 2 or the ultra light, but I would straight stitch over it. For any art jacket, wash in cold water and my preference is to line dry them.
I don't know if you'll see this comment, being the video is 3 years old. I was wondering if those glues are washable or if the garments will need to be dry cleaned 🤔
I like it, but I don't like raw edges. I would have used the silver trim on the edges of the collar, pockets, and cuffs in addition to the sheer fabric to give it more continuity.
Cat!! I LOVE this jacket! Perfect trim and accent material. I love the whole thing, because it’s not too over the top.
Ok you got me interested I need to pull out sewing machine and make those ideas I had on paper. I think coworkers will be so jealous.
Ficou, lindo. Te beijo desde 🇵🇹 Portugal
Love the jacket!! It motivates me to do one similar. Thanks!!❤
So beautiful also id not heard of heat and bond or fabric glue an how its to be used. My mind is whirling. Hugs from the 🇬🇧
Loved seeing your technique.
Question: will you be able to wash this?
Also, since you said you sew, why not sew some of the embellishments?
Thank you!

Can you post where you get your ribbon and the link.
Great job!! It looks amazing!
When using any fabric glue, it is a good idea to weigh it down as it dries, just use a heavy book or anything at hand.
Beautiful💕 Thank you for sharing!
Hi Cat, new sub. Beautiful work 👏
I love your technic. It looks amazing. Can the jacket be machine washed after use?
Really beautiful!

This is just wonderful! When you sell your pieces, what are your washing instructions? Thank you.
Beautiful ♥️
Beautiful, please tell me what kind of paper you adhere to the back of the tee shirt before ironing it onto the jacket.

Will that trim stay on after washing it?
Beautiful ❤
What are the washing instructions after it's been worn? Pls advise. Thank you.
Did you ever get washing instructions?
Try washing in cold water, place inside out into a pillowcase and wash on delicate. Line dry. I would straight stitch everything down

Just scrolling, and none of the comment questions have answered.
That's a jean shirt, not a jean jacket... yes ?
Several questions about washing, don’t see any answers?
I think not.don’t know how the t-shirt pach will hold up but I do know that the glue used on the ribbon will only last for one or two washes
