I think the term "cold as Hell" comes from Dante's Inferno, in which the 9th circle of Hell is described as a vast iced lake, which is where traitors are frozen. The heater thermostat has a minimum setting of 5⁰C so if your van is below that you can't turn it off unless you unplug it. I bought it on your recommendation! 👍👏
Cool vid (scuse the pun..) 👍 Just to say (2:47) A Caddy isn't a car derived van, I looked into this after being caught doing 71mph on a dual carriageway in my old Transit Connect work van & I couldn't understand way. Car derived means something like Fiesta van, Corsa van etc, something which is essentially a car without the rear side windows. A Caddy might be based on a Golf (or whatever) floor plan but that's different, VW don't make a Caddy car. I ended up doing a speed awareness course & it turned out no one else there knew either. It's crazy because I can only do 60 on a dual carriageway yet a coach full of passengers comes past me at 70, I mean, who's gonna stop quicker, me or that?? I can do 70 on a motorway too, so somehow I'm seen to have a shorter breaking distance on a motorway... 🤷♂️
The caddy is based on the Touran I think. But yeah someone said earlier about it not being classed as a car derived van because it’s over 2000kg. I never knew that. But yeah the lower speed limits are written on a sticker in the van. Apparently though if I get the dvla to re-register it as a camper then I get the normal speed limits back. I’m not fussed about that personally though but some people do that. Although DVLA make it really hard to re register apparently! And thanks mate, it’s appreciated!
@@Adz It is ridiculous, I converted my L2H2 Ducato so it would (or should...) be accepted as a campervan by the DVLA thus allowing me to do 70 instead of 60 even though it’s permanently only 200kgs off it’s max payload, what makes them think it’ll stop better at that weight I’ll never know... They do make re-registering them awkward, they say it has to be ‘in the spirit of a campervan’ ie, things like campervan style graphics on the side, as well as things like permanently fitted hob, somewhere to eat, sleep etc. The DVLA basically don’t like stealth...
In the winter weather like this there you should put a small amount of petrol in the fuel there to stop the fuel freezing there ok as i had to do this before there ok
Hello mate the duvanator could quite possibly be the next noble prize winner! Hi Ad, I remember you said a diesel-heater is not stealth enough for you. But honestly I recommend you one. It takes not much place and is pretty good to heat up the car in general when it was standing. I often turn it on when I am not in the bus, so that its comfortable when I am later sleep in it.
Hi mate. Yeah I know they’re great things. Just not for this van really. I’d never have it on because of the lack of stealth. I’m getting one when I get a bigger van though
Hey me and my partner were looking forward to a Christmas special and NO CHRISTMAS SPECIAL (tip BBC Pre Record there's Christmas special tip for next year )

Great and refreshing video...watched 5mins of wills whereabouts usual crap cook in van and promote some product...lad your brave no heater...we had -7 here in Ireland no snow but i had my 5kw heater running nicely at 22c..
Well if I get a bigger van I’m not sure it’ll be as comfortable without a diesel heater so I expect I’ll be getting one when I upgrade! Glad you enjoyed the vid!
You definitely don't need a diesel heater. I've been travelling and living full time in my car for years throughout winters without any form of heating (no gas or electric heaters and definitely no electric blankets or hot water bottles... they're for wimps 🙄😂). With the right clothing you can remain cozy warm day and night, no matter how cold it gets. ❄️
Yeah so many people claim you HAVE to have a diesel heater but you definitely don’t. I’ll be getting one in my next bigger van but for this one I am happy I never got one
@@Adz It's quite cozy in my BMW X5 even with all four windows slightly open 24/7 for ventilation. Obviously it remains well insulated due to copious leather and felt lining of walls and ceiling that most cars already have. The trouble with vans is that they come standard with no insulation, like living in a cold tin can, and so need to be properly fitted out with extra thick wall insulation and flooring etc, plus it is a larger internal space to maintain warmth compared to the more confined space of a 4WD SUV.
Has anyone else noticed the orb or whatever it was at 10:30? not particularly of the ghostly/paranormal kind but thought this a bit odd. Maybe you aren't alone there mate...lol
I’ve not used a Jackery before but even the EcoFlow 2 has kept the duvenator running all night when I 1st tested it. That’s about 250wh and I think it took around 70% of that if I remember right
Been micro camper vanning for over ten years, full time, and never had a diesel heater, but always warm and cosy with layers and a good 'maggot', latest UK temps down to - 12 C and never an issue !
It’s a lot more expensive going down a leisure battery route mate. I mean a standard leisure battery is rated at about 200 cycles whereas these eco flows use lithium rated to 3000 cycles.. so you’d need to buy 15 leisure batteries to get the same life span. And on top of that I’d need to buy an inverter powerful enough to run the appliances. And upgrade my DC to DC charger and solar charger. That’s just for me who already has a set up, but if you were starting an electrical system from scratch in a van, you’d also need wiring/plug sockets/fuse box/common earth block/battery monitor as well as a dc to dc charger and solar charger.. Also there’s the space. A standard leisure battery with the same useable capacity as the ecoflow would be at least double the size and weight. I could get a lithium leisure battery yeah, but would still need additional components and it would end up costing more than the ecoflow and be a lot more inconvenient
@@Adz my leisure battery was £80, split charger kit £50, 500w inverter was £60 and wiring/sockets all came to about £30-£40. So that's £220-£230. Adding a second leisure battery would be another £80 making about £300 for 110amps of usable power which equates to 1320wh which is double the power compared to the Ecoflow River 2 pro which is about £749.
Also a 'cycle' is fully drained. As long as leisure batteries are only drained by about 50% they can last a lot longer, mine is also warrantied for 4 years.
The inverter is slightly bigger in the ecoflow. And it has a built in solar charger and battery monitor (Bluetooth too).. but the main reason why it’s cheaper to get an ecoflow is because the battery will last 15 times longer than yours.. so but the time you’ve bought 15 batteries you would’ve spent a considerable amount more, taken up a lot more space and added a lot more weight to your van. But also it’s likely your 110ah batteries are actually 95ah.. the way they’re marketed is confusing and misleading. But a lot of the 110ah are rated by the non standard rating. But yeah either way it’s far cheaper with an ecoflow which is one of the reasons why I do it this way
Well yeah they’d last around 400 cycles if only reaching 50% DOC but that rule applies to the ecoflow too. Lithium is always going to be cheaper (for a slightly higher initial cost). I mean you could get a lithium leisure battery but it would require a decent DC to DC charger and solar charger. Plus a bigger inverter and a decent Bluetooth battery monitor to match the ecoflow. But unless you got very cheap brands you’re unlikely to get the whole kit cheaper than an ecoflow, and then you also lose the compactness of a power station

Thanks Andy! I didn’t actually know that. To be honest I thought car derived meant the front end was the same shape as a car 😂 but yeah luckily the correct speed limits are written on my sun visor
cant wait for the summer nice vids keep it up
Same! And thanks!
OMG! I need to get in that angel slipper! 🤩 it's good seeing that the van is very useable in cold weather and it's been a good test for it latley as it never usually drops as low as it has been doing. I don't know if you'll have another video before but if not then have a great Christmas and New Year mate 👍 Thanks for keeping us entertained all year and I look forward to your 2023 adzventures! See what I did there haha 🤣
Bit of a late reply but hope you had a happy Christmas! I did start to film a video for it but it didn’t work out unfortunately
@@Adz no worries mate, thanks and happy Christmas to you too and may as well say a happy new year while I’m at it 🤣 hope you have a good one. Ah that’s ok, I’ll just look forward to whatever next video you put out is then! 👍🏻
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Have a good one bro 🎅🎄😎🍻
Happy Christmas !
Love the angel slipper /god pocket , I’ve got the extra large ridge monkey toaster so will be making a extra large one next time I’m out on the bank fishing
Just love the food ideas you come up with🤤🤤
Thanks Ray! They’re so good and so easy to clean up after! Going to experiment with some different fillings soon I think! Enjoy!
Hi Ad,
I remember you said a diesel-heater is not stealth enough for you.
Really enjoying your channel mate, been interested watching what you have done with the caddy 😊👍
Thanks Andrew!
Hey me and my partner were looking forward to a Christmas special and NO CHRISTMAS SPECIAL (tip BBC Pre Record there's Christmas special tip for next year )
I was really hoping to. In fact we started filming one but half way through we gave up on it!
@Adz Ventures should off kept with it regardless everyone's loves christmas special eastender corrie holyoake they all have special ❤️ 😀 😉 💙 lol
Haha yeah but I’d rather not just put out a vid that I wouldn’t be happy with. But hope you had a good Christmas and a happy new year!
@Adz Ventures merry Christmas and Happy New year
Another entertaining video mate ,keep them coming.
Merry Christmas
Thanks Mark! Hope you had a good Christmas and New Year!
Can't wait to see becks ...bless ya G....🥶
We did try to film a Christmas vid but it didn’t really work out. But we’re filming an adventure tomorrow!
I ain't got no insta daaam no comp for me as I'm old
Ahh sorry I couldn’t do it on here. But there’s no way to contact people on here so unfortunately has to be insta. You could always get someone to comment on your behalf?
I will deffo have a go bud, they look like handy little buggers
loved it well done
Thank you!
Can I ask what fridge / size that is please ( not that we need it with this weather 😂) Keep up the good work
I’m kind of guessing here but I think it was the 15l one. There’s a link to all products I use in the description
@@Adz great cheers, HNY!
Love the videos bud got me wanting a van now
Thanks! And it’s the best thing I bought. I want a bigger one now!
Class content mate!
Thank you!
Duvalator works fab great invention!! 🤣 I wanted you to finish the igloo 😭 🤣🤣 how cheeky was that Audi !! Some idiots just don’t get it do they??! 🙄
Yeah it was even better than I thought! I would’ve needed the washing up bowl to finish it 😂 but yeah that parking was even closer than usual haha
@@Adz we’ll get you a washing up bowl for Christmas 🤣🤣🤣😆😁 xx
Adz, have a great Xmas, love to follow you on your mini adventures, but when looking at you it so reminds me of a younger Tom Hardy. Duvenator rocks!
Thanks! Hope you had a good Christmas and new year! And haha I’ve heard that a few times actually
Has anyone else noticed the orb or whatever it was at 10:30? not particularly of the ghostly/paranormal kind but thought this a bit odd.
Maybe you aren't alone there mate...lol
I think it’s just dust mate to be honest
I need to make a bloody duvenator by this Jackery 500 won’t power anything with the 3 pin plug…it don’t seem strong enough and just cuts out
I’ve not used a Jackery before but even the EcoFlow 2 has kept the duvenator running all night when I 1st tested it. That’s about 250wh and I think it took around 70% of that if I remember right
Is the duvinator run off a 3 pin plug or a 12v please
Been micro camper vanning for over ten years, full time, and never had a diesel heater, but always warm and cosy with layers and a good 'maggot', latest UK temps down to - 12 C and never an issue !
Maggot?
military expression for a sleeping bag !!
Ohhhh 😂😂😂 makes sense now! Yeah before the electric blanket idea I was going to look at a thermal maggot 😂
Also , just a quick ask , will we be seeing our lovely Becktoria before Christmas ? 😉
We did attempt to film a video yesterday but we gave up on it half way through unfortunately 😂. But soon!
I would have called your snack in the RidgeMonkey: The Devil's Hanky! 👹🥪
If it was spicy that could’ve worked haha
Great video, what model is your eco flow please
Thanks! I mainly use the delta 2
Good that it all works off battery power, but why not just add a second or third leisure battery at a quarter of the price of a ecoflow?
Love the videos always make me laugh look forward to next one xx
Thank you Sandra, it’s always appreciated! Xx
Nice bro top efforts that, its been baltic the last week. Top content keep up the great work. One quick question what cameras do you use im thinking about starting a metal detecting channel?
Thanks mate! Yeah it’s definitely been cold! I use loads mate because my work before this channel was producing videos. Sony A7C, Sony zv1 Sony x3000. GoPro 7, GoPro 8, iPhone 12pro and a dji mini drone. Different cameras for different situations really
@@Adz ok fella thank you for the reply im thinking a go pro 7 could be the one. 💪💪💪
You look about the same age as Ame in a Van.
I think you two would hit it off.
Not sure how old she is but she seems like a nice girls seen a few of her vids
Cool, you both have a unique charm about you. Cheers from Canada.
how can i enter the giveaway if im not on insta?
Unfortunately insta is the only way we can contact people, you can’t message someone on TH-cam. I’d suggest getting a friend to drop a comment for you?
@@Adz ive set up my own account, cant trust them to not keep it themselves, lol.
Becktoria needs her own TH-cam channel - she’s crazy and so funny 😁
I keep telling her to start one lol
Yes!
Can I ask how you can fully charge the Ecoflow Delta 2 every day?
A combination of my roof solar, and I run 300w through an inverter to it when I’m driving
😜🤣 Merry Christmas 🎁
Happy Christmas 🎉
brill video 👍 i keep looking into these ecoflow power ive just tried your discount code and its not available, will give a few days to try again. keep up the good work 👏
That’s strange it should be available already. Let me ask them why!
I’ve just sent them a message so I should hear back in the morning and it should be sorted. I’ll reply here again when it is, and apologies for that!
It’s working now!
you been working out? you need to look into making some decent vanlife coffeeeee....next vid? happy christmas
Unfortunately not. About 3 months ago I went to the gym for 3 weeks 😂 but yeah I am planning on starting again asap!
And yeah I do often think I want to make proper coffee. It’s not as easy in a small space but in my next van I’ll probably abandon the instant stuff
You should clear that snow off your roof to stay safe! 🙂
Adz won't ever marry a woman, he'll marry a Toastie.
And then devour it.
And claim that it was, The One!
😂
That’s my life goal!! 😂😂
Hi Adz, does everything plug in electrical for you go via the Ecoflow thingy ???
Yeah I use the eco flow for everything apart from my fridge and the lights which are still run through my leisure battery
