I could watch this for hours. Love your humor and thanks for showing us how hard sports shots are. I'll be trying a sports league for the first time, and it will be a miracle if I'll be able to figure out the weekly pattern. I suspect I'll finally get lined up, with the correct ball, and finally figure out the angles by the 9th frame in the 3rd game, lol. If I'm lucky.

we all have goals to do well and idealistically always be right at the top, but realistically we aren't that way and those who realize it and deal with it is possibly better fit for the game. What I've learned to enjoy about your channel (you especially) is your honesty and your interviews are interesting. I supscribe to several bowling vlogs, i would say my favorite is Brad and Kyle but i like all of them. All the channels have interesting content. I guess what I like most about your channel is your honesty. Keep it up

I was a volunteer lane monitor on the low end and saw some incredible things. It ended up being an ave of 211 to make the cut. The ball of choice from the Storm guys was a Phase II. Brandon Bonta is an incredible talent. The Keven- Simo match was the best I saw. They were both undefeated and just continued to throw haymakers at each other.
Nobody is going to be at Simo twice. He's so good there were times where he looked like he was just playing around. Threw it straight, hooked the entire lane...
You'd have scored better than Jimmy Allen but you wouldn't have dressed as cool as he did😂.
Glad you're making Vids again Ben. I recommend them to everyone.

I bowled on the 2024 usbc masters pattern and that one hell of a way to start bowling again in like 2 months I used my pyramid pathogen for the start and then used my iq ruby and I have bowled a high 189 182 179 I played 12 games in total I mostly bowled 150 160s sometimes 140. Since I haven't bowled in a while my spare shooting was waaaaay off barely could hit the 10 pin I tried hitting the middle arrow but I just keeps missing the arrow and it goes in the gutter I still had a great time I actually enjoy bowling more bowling on sport feels more rewarding getting strikes.😊

I just bowled nationals last week (USBC Open Championships). For me, I bowled well on the team pattern but struggled mightily on the minors pattern. Felt like I had to throw the perfect shot to strike, anything else was hopefully a convertible spare opportunity. For a few games, I had that mental block of throwing it too far right because if I did, the ball would smile at me, wave, give me the middle finger as it smacked the 3-6 in the face, hahaha. I'm right there with the fear of throwing the ball to the right on sport patterns.

    • @TenPinLife
      @TenPinLife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

I’ll be in Reno at the beginning of May so hopefully the minors pattern shapes up before then! I don’t like whacking the 3-6 lol

Hell yeah I would watch your Vlog if you would bowl an event like the Masters and cheer for you the whole way. It's great that your center would put down that pattern. I would love to bowl on it. On flat stuff I tend to get a little tentative and miss left. Something in my brain makes me shorten my backswing. So I just don't have time to fully line up by shoulder and arm swing towards target at top of backswing.
Good to see some content on what bowling on sport shot is really like.
And this is why I use my thumb for spares. Not going to be guessing where to throw the ball in any tournament.

    • @TenPinLife

Nice video. I enjoy the fellow amateur perspective. One of my leagues is a sport shot practice and oh man is it humbling.
On the televised matchplay it looked like a straighter line / playing from right was the most successful. I know it takes work to put a video together but I wonder what your results might be like that.

Yep. The guys who were scoring had a lot of forward roll and didn't come around it much. Sean really had that forward roll going. Got to know exactly what your hand is doing at the bottom to repeat shots. The ball might look like it's on the same line but when you roll it differently every shot, that doesn't matter much. Ben's release really varies from shot to shot as to how much he comes around it. That may work on the THS but is disaster on tough patterns like this. I do agree with the comment about changing balls too often. Find a neutral hand, stay forward with it, and find a zone. Too many bowlers throw the shape of the oil hoping it will shape the shot. The real good bowlers know the shape of the ball and find the spot on the lane where that shape will work. If this makes sense to you, you understand the game. If not, you probably love the house shot... until it transitions..

Too bad the Masters isn't played as 9-pin no-tap .. your last game would have been great!

@@TenPinLife - Man, bowling like those guys do has to be so hard. I have a hard enough time on a house shot, can't imagine trying to score on some of the patterns they have to play on.

@@squidly2112 I can’t imagine cutting my teeth out on tour to learn how to bowl on tour… get run over for a couple years just to hope to cash. No thanks.

@@TenPinLife -Making a living on the PBA tour had got to be a very difficult life, I would imagine. You have to really love what you are doing. The competition is very very tight and the money is not great compared to many other sports. It would be fun perhaps, but a lot of hard work for often times little to no pay. I certainly will never be a professional bowler, never will be nearly good enough for one. Those guys are really really good.

Nice video. Just wish you wouldn't have experimented so much to see what you actually would have shot. Seems like if you would have stuck with the DNA you would have figured out the late change earlier. Can't imagine you don't throw a 200 or two if you would have stick with it.

@TenPinLife oh, I agree with that completely. But would have been interesting to see what you score staying with the ball that gave you the best look.

Why didn't you get up the ditch?? Not part of your game I'm guessing.

More than just that. 1, Weston’s gutters hook a ton so I never play them. 2, irritated back injury and slightly tacky approaches so no real momentum with the feet. 3, the shape around 2nd arrow wasn’t bad I just had to do it.
      4. I suck.

Get over it or make your own video. It’s easy being a critic. Jackass.

66yr old Lefty. On Flat patterns I pray, freak, keep it skinny and keep my expectations low. Bet you're 220+ on a THS. Nice stroke.🎳
