Making a Wood & Copper Bottle Opener

- In this video I'm making a ferro rod with a bottle opener included in the handle. It also features a simple leather sheath.
This was a gift for a friend so I could not test it on video, sorry about that.
It's very similar to the ferro rods I usually make, only I've thought to add a bottle opener to the handle, to make it a bit different. And maybe more useful to him :D
The handle is Zebra wood and copper, finished with mineral oil and bees wax.
Just when i thought this couldn't be any more bad ass, you went and made your ferro rod a beautiful leather sheath too.

I know, but it was a gift for a friend, I could not use it. I did tried it on a bottle cap but forgot to press the record button and only realized it today, while editing the video.

I am making a bottle opener out of metal using three layers of mild steel. Doesn't look as good as yours though. Nice work :)

Piece of advice from someone who can still hear their high school shop teacher in the back of their mind? Bolt the vice down to the drill table. It’ll save your project and your hands.

Has all them tools but still uses a can 2 make a circle cut out lol, great job though
Can’t figure out why people need bottle openers on everything. Back in the 60s & 70s we used a fence post, pocketknife, tailgate or whatever other edge we could find. Just put the edge if the lid on something firm and strike downward. No opener needed.

@@yoshistime8618 огниво, подразумевает дальний, чаще всего пеший поход. Ну, спички отсыреть могут, зажигалка сломаться, история что-бы развести огонь, согреться и обсушиться нужен "вечный огонь"-огниво. Но, нафига тогда открывашка? Кто в дальний поход или путешествие вие бутылочное пиво берет??? (Про пиво это как пример, Что-то, что нужно открывать этим приспособлением)

Yea, I learned that the hard way... in the marking knife video I lost a tooth on the tiny table saw blade, and those things are crazy expensive! This time it was a wonder that the ferro rod did not snap while hitting the column of the drill.
