Welcome back to Rfactor 2 for PC. Okay, in today's video we'll check out the Porsche 911 RSR GTE at the newly released Le Mans (Circuit De La Sarthe) DLC track. We'll drive this car without VR. Let's drive the car in gameplay mode, before we look at some cool replay footage. Keep it locked to simracing604 for lots of news and videos relating to sim racing.

worth every penny and haven't touched another sim since it was released. great fun. the RSR needs a massive exhaust note update though. I'll be at The Glen next weekend listening to that beauty live!

Thanks for another great video Mike! I love the track and the immersion is really good. Le Mans is a special place. One feature of this new DLC that stood out beyond the track itself is how well optimized it seems to be for VR. I just tested it with my Vive Pro at very high settings and 25 cars. A steady 90 FPS the whole time. I love Sebring but I can’t maintain a 90 FPS with the same settings. So positive to see that the always amazing RF2 physics are now starting to be matched with really immersive and performance friendly graphics. Sim racing just keeps getting better and better!!
mate, what do you use to check your fps in game? i cannot find a way to check it.
The Nurburgring 24 is currently underway and I have a feeling the Nordschleife for rFactor 2 might be around the corner.
Maybe another surprise.

I like RF2 and I get that they need to make money but unfortunately £10 for one track is unfortunately too much. I brought ACC for £17 and got 11 laser scanned tracks. Even at £35 that’s still just over £3 a track not to mention the amazing cars. Both have positives and negatives but ACC feels more finished than RF 2 even though RF2 been in development longer.
RF2 is still my preferred sim :)

Just came back from a week @ Le Mans, must say this is the most up to date track in any sim racing game, the work they did the last two years at the second part of the porsche curves is up to date at this version, looks as it is right now, i'm impressed!! The IRacing one is at least 3 years old if you look at this part of the track and the project cars 2 one is even more out of date.

Thanks for the video, good review as always! Beautiful circuit and a lot of details that seem accurate as far as I can tell, but maybe bumps are a bit overdone. Did you notice any performance issue?
The sound of the TV replay is weird, isn't it? The Doppler effect is completely off, I never noticed that in rF2 (but then I'm rarely watching the replays). In any case, it's too expensive for now, maybe when there's a pack with LM cars, who knows?
nofebak tryagain thanks so much! As far as the bumpy track, I think that may be accurate, given that the circuit is only semi-permanent. And I believe it’s laser scanned, so the bumps should be accurate within 1mm if I’m not mistaken. But yes, the replay sound is weird. Especially if you compare it to Assetto Corsa. Thanks again for watching!
@@SimRacing604 I'm trying to compare with onboard videos, in a very scientific way :D Maybe it depends on the way the camera is fixed, actually (and of course the spring settings and so on). It must have taken a lot of time getting all those details, it's very nice.
The track looks great. How’s the performance in VR?
Sim Racing can be expensive so the price is nothing. I’ll gladly pay it for something I’m interested in.
They really need to add a custom grid feature like RaceRoom. I stopped playing rF2 because you can’t simply put together a balanced field of cars.
OhItsThat yes, the UI and specifically the ability to set up multi-class races is very cumbersome. And I haven’t tested the VR yet. My suspicion is that it’s somewhat taxing. The track is 1.8 Gb!
Another great Video Mike. But Digga's rF2 version will do me. S397 version costs $A17.95. I am afraid to say that it but I now believe that S397 is just a money making machine.
Love how you can't even see the green light exiting the pits because they put a billboard in front of it. Good ole rf2. This is terrible quality for $15.
The textures are horrid. Materials are all wrong. Looks like a mod track, S397 LUL
@@Wium43 How much different is this track from the mod tracks already available? Looks about the same to me. Is the in-lap problem fixed between faster classes, where the LMP1 cars refused to pass the GTE cars?
Hey Mike check out the PX mod by United Racing they have a Paid pack of 4 pretty good lmp1 cars based on real ones like the audi r18 and porsche 919

DaGURUMASTA and 1 LMP2 class car as well, just be aware they need a BoP fix in my opinion and URD suck at communicating what or even if they are updating anything.
It's still worth the coin in my opinion they drive amazing
What am i missng? im hearing all these complaints about graphics and i think this game looks great. especially in VR. I have this game maxed out fully and SS bumped up to 150% i think and it is probably the best looking sim in VR to me. And the colors are the most natural. And i have all the sims except iracing. Yes it doesnt have all the post processing like ACC or pcars2 but the car models and tracks look great even without the bling.
Gregory Latty it’s subjective, for sure. I agree with you that it looks great, but next to something like Project CARS 2, in my opinion it falls short graphically. But to me the gap in graphics isn’t worth addressing. RF2 is amazing.
that is because the grass, sand and trees, everything else looks great for me. Nordschleife will make me puke for sure, grass everywhere.

@@SimRacing604 yah you are right. Thise other cames do look great. But i think its a clarity thing for me now since moving to vr. And rfactor 2 is slowly creeping up with shader improvements. At the end of the day, We live in a great time for sim racing. So many options

Sorry but the Le Mans track mod made by the community is wayyyy better. There`s no comparison.
They almost look the same but the laser scan makes a huge difference to the feel of the track.

This is laser scanned, so I doubt it
@@belevezero2279 it is laser scan but the mesh sucks. Look at the road textures for example. Even the helicópters of the circuit are missing, and they are a huge thing in 24 hours. They are always 7 or 8 helicópters in the air at the same time on the 24 Hours and they refuel right on the side of the track.
3:45 URD has a paid LMP1 mod with the Toyota, Porsche, Audi, and Nissan. (I belive a rebellion too.)

@@SimRacing604 be careful, they never fully finished the lmp pack, as stated above. the AI attacks corners too much. not the greatest state. who knows if it will ever get finished.

What is your replay settings in video for rFactor 2. I get smooth frame rates at playback but when I record the footage with Nvidia shadow play it looks stuttery.

Happy Fathers day everybody. Hey Mike you should make another video of this track at night. I still think think the AC version on Race Dept is way better than this one.
All the AC versions are known to by wildly inaccurate.
Inaccurate ? I wouldn't know. All I'm saying is I prefer the AC track.
I live in Europe and it costs 10 € and it’s too expensive for a single track, but it’s not so expensive if you think on how much money Studio397 have spend to realise with laser scanned technology
hey mike or anyone, i use the accuforce wheel and fanatec pedals, the wheel works perfectly fine in all the popular sims with game ffb or simx.
however even though the game recognises the wheel sometimes i get on the track and nothing works, i have to go back to menu and reasign the wheel, also in the game my wheel just goes mental, its almost unusable, leaving the pits the wheel violently turns full lock left in front of the pit guy but the car continues on the correct route out of the pits, the wheel and arms in game behave completely differently to what im actually doing, so much so i had to turn off the animation, back on the track the wheel response appears to be very random, one corner it trurns in as i believe it should and the next it barely turns at all, im not racing either im just going slow trying to figure it out, just in case you think im sliding.
if i turn off the ingame ffb and only use simx it seems to help although the wheel and arms animation is still all wrong, plus leaving the pit, the wheel still goes full lock left.
to be honest i gave up at this point as i only had limited time and just wanted to race, so i loaded up raceroom.
i would greatly appreciate any help from you or anyone as i really want to try this out.

I thought iRacing was asking much for their tracks but 17 dollars my money is way to much, and it looks to similar to a mod track that has suspiciously disappeared from the steam workshop.

@@SimRacing604 i played pcars 2 Lemans modern with all multiclass cars last night and i really had a lot of fun
the only downside of pcars 2 was the AI which had to hit my car to understand that i m there
other than that i ll stay with the lemans made ny Digga

I remember it driving well. It's so hard for me to judge since it's such an extreme car.

@@ErossYT Gotcha! In Assetto Corsa I can only run a field of 31 on the FM7 Le Mans performance track without 99% CPU warning and slowdown. In RF2 I was able to run 60. I'm sure that isn't the vast majority though! Curious to hear what most people can run, I'm on an i7 4790k at 4.7 with a 1080ti here.
We seriously need rfactor 3. After enjoying ACC graphics this doesn't feel great visually at all

@@yungdadi Biggest problem with rF2's visuals is the lighting. The model and texture quality is really high, there's just a limited number of light sources, and the light rendering isn't great. You don't need a new game for that to be fixed.
