    Questions about Nanit or Nanit Breathing Wear? You ask (in the comments). We answer (in the comments). You get info, we find out what people are still curious about, TH-cam's algorithm gets fed info about what this video is about. Win-win-win.

      At time stamp 1:18.... did you actually use the camera in this fashion? I am buying and need the camera at the foot of the bed. Worried I will lose too much functionality to make the camera worth it. The company was very vague about it of course as it is designed for the side of the bed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

      Hi Matthew - as long as the camera can see the inside of the crib you can move the monitor anywhere in your child's room. I created a DIY floor stand by repurposing a tablet stand I bought from Amazon. If you'd to see a "how-to" video on how I did this let me know and I'll get on it!

      Are there any documented cases of Nanit detecting a breathing problem that potentially saved a life? Similarily are there any documented cases of Nanit failing to detect a breathing problem and offering false reassurance?

    Been using the nanit for a couple weeks with breathing wear... love the camera as a whole.
    Positives: good clarity, love the white noise function, great design and mounts. We got the package w breathing wear and multi stand included, u def save a few $ doing that.
    Cons: seems like the range on WiFi is rather low, other devices work well in nursery but the nanit struggles non stop with connectivity, however closer to the router it seems to run perfect.
    The other con is the alert for stop breathing (usually because we leave the swaddle in the bassinet) can vary from 20 seconds up to sometimes 5 minutes which seems a bit bothersome, but I have to test it a bit more.
    Thanks for the reviews👍🏼

    Great review as always mate. Your review and Dadverb helped make my decision.
    So much that I had planned to buy the nanit on a work trip to the states this month (March 20)
    But hey! Finally it's in the UK... and it ain't cheap. They just swapped the dollar $ sign for a pound £ sign 😔
    Definitely getting it with the Floor stand.

    I've heard that you can use the breathing band over a swaddle? Can you confirn? That would be a major downside and negate a key benefit

    • @Fathercraft
      @Fathercraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you can't use it over a swaddle unless you're not swaddling the arms (what they're trying to prevent is the breathing band being able to wiggle up over the baby's face, which would be a suffocation hazard. Nanit does make a swaddle with a breathing band built in that's worth checking out.

    You can’t do a new best of baby monitors without evaluating Cubo! We have both Nanit Plus and Cubo. We ike them both for different reasons. I find the video quality is superior with Cubo and though it does have face covered alert, it doesn’t give as much peace of mind as Nanit breathing monitoring. Would love to see a Fathercraft review of Cubo and a comparison with the reigning champ, Nanit Plus.

    • @Fathercraft

      Hey Evan, great call. We’re actually testing the Cubo as we speak and will be considering it for our list of 2020 best baby monitors.

    Do you have to turn the Nanit breathing monitoring off in the app when you pick your child up at night? Do you have to restart it once you feed or change diapers?

    • @Fathercraft
      @Fathercraft  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi David - yes you should turn off the monitoring if you take your baby out for any reason or the alert will be triggered.

    Can the breathing wear be used over a blanket or sleeping bag? Thinking about the winter time, the swaddle looks fairly thin, and the band wouldn't have any cosy factor

    • @Fathercraft
      @Fathercraft  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nanit has a “sleeping bag” swaddle you should check out.

    Is there a light that is emitted when it's running in the dark? Like a red or blue light to help with "night vision"?

    • @Fathercraft

      Yes there is a faint but visible red light when night vision is on.

      Hi La-Toya - apologies for the late response. Only the Nanit monitor will work on that Nanit stand. What I've done in the past (and continue to do for any new monitor I test) is use a tablet stand to mount the monitor. If you think a quick how-to video on how I did this would be helpful, let me know. Would be happy to share that with you!

    Can the band work with out the camera!? Or you need both? I don't want a camera in the nursery, the possibility of it being hacked is the whole reason for staying away from a camera.

    • @Fathercraft
      @Fathercraft  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Katrina - because the band is free of sensors it can only be used with the Nanit. For what it’s worth, I’ve yet to hear of any hacking issues with the Nanit monitor.

    How do you feel about security with these baby monitors?

    • @Fathercraft
      @Fathercraft  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most top of the line wifi monitors employ industry standards and best practices when it comes to security so it really isn't an issue. So I have no concerns when it comes to security.

    What happens when wi-fi goes out for the Nanit?

    • @Fathercraft
      @Fathercraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a Bluetooth backup of some sort which provides a “local” view. However, I believe this restricts functionality to only audio and video feeds.

  • @scocha1
    @scocha1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So, very interested in the Nanit Plus or a similar monitor, and already have plans to get a Snoo for our first child due this summer. Is the Snoo body wrap and the Nanit Plus Breathing wear a little overkill? That's a lot of tech on one baby, but has anyone tried them together? Would they work if combined? Which baby wearable sensor works better (the Nanit Plus of the Snoo)?

    • @Fathercraft
      @Fathercraft  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Scott - unfortunately the Nanit breathing monitoring will not work if you use the Snoo because of the way Nanit detects breathing. However, technically, there isn't any physical tech touching your baby with either the Snoo or Nanit. The Nanit uses the custom patterns on their swaddle to detect movement and Snoo uses audio waves to triggger movement and white noise. So long story short - no sensors physically touch your baby.
      As far as which one works better, they are each designed for different purposes. Snoo is built to help get your baby back to sleep without physical intervention and Nanit's primary directive is to monitor your child and analyze sleeping habits. Once your baby is 6 months old and needs to transition to a crib, that's were Nanit's full potential comes out. So maybe hold off on getting the Nanit until your baby is in a crib. Hope this helps!
