definitely dying, it gave Nickelodeon’s attempt at disney descendants. i feel like this had so much potential to be iconic but it’s just cringey and sad. the songs have the most basic lyrics that you could think of if you were free styling at karaoke night, not to mention they sing in cursive. this movie looks like another nickelodeon flop.

    • @sweethistortea

I always thought Cleo and Deuce were the couple that was going to last forever in the series. They loved each other a lot, (as seen in Boo York and countless episodes of the webseries) so why change a couple that is clearly in love?
Also, I thought Abby and Heath were a couple or at least interested in each other.

@@sweethistortea Me too, the og series kept on showing time and time again how much Cleo and Deuce were meant for each other, only for this movie to give us the tomfoolery that is Deuce x Clawdeen...
Also, Abbey x Heath had really nice chemistry going on, so why did they decide to pair Heath up with Cleo of all people?? Maybe I'm wrong and the Cleo x Heath thing is just like... A rumor, or a crush that one of the characters has, or even another past relationship of Cleo, but it's still not a good look.

@@Ros7698 Cleo would never have dated Heath in the original. Heath was a goofball and very childish, whereas Cleo was always elegant and (somewhat) reserved.
Abby and Heath were friends and had a nice relationship, and that may have turned into something more had the original not gotten rebooted in 2016.

The two big things that annoy me is the creators ignore the lore of werewolves. A werewolf is a human who turns into a wolf during the full moon. Toralei is a werecat so it doesn’t make sense that Clawdeen is hiding being “half human” when she’s a werewolf. Second why is magic forbidden now when they’ve always had witches in the original and witches are closer to monster world including Casta. I also wish accents were included, it makes the world much more bigger.

From what I can tell, a new student enters another world through a portal, she runs afoul of the school bully/popular girl who just broke up with her boyfriend, the boyfriend then starts liking the new girl for literally no reason except plot. There is a lot about this new live action movie that I really don’t like, but can we all agree that theses actors are definitely not to blame for the decisions made by Nickelodeon and Mattel. Each one of them gave it their all. Even if the movie is terrible I have nothing but love for its cast and crew. I understand wanting to make changes for a new generation of fans. Though when you piggy back off of brand recognition if you change to much you‘ll lose old fans with the possibility of not gaining enough new ones. It’s a very delicate balance few properties have done successfully.

I agree, I generally feel like they butchered it. especially with the casting and representation, ofc it's not the actor's fault tho but like, but how hard is it to find a brown skin black girl to play clawdeen? you can watch any of the monster high movies and see where the characters are from and figure out what they might look like. as a kid clawdeen use to be one of my favorite characters because I almost never saw any characters with darker skin at my age, characters that looked like me!, for example, the character Jinafire Long is Chinese or Skelita Calaveras who is Mexican. and putting clawdeen and deuce together is just wrong. also like how they took away Draculaura's nice, happy personality. or how they made ghoulia talk even though she's mute. everything is just so wrong..

i’m gonna say something that might be quite controversial, but just bear with me.
nb representation is important, i’m all for it, but why make a character who was cis for decades, whom people referred to as the DAUGHTER of frankenstein, only used she/her suddenly non-binary?
again, i mean no harm, i just simply think introducing a whole new non-binary character would be the better option here. i’m also considering the fact people who won’t watch the movie/ haven’t watched yet, might still refer to frankie as a “she”, which might cause a few arguments later..
the fact clawdeen is straight and hetero? wtf????
her siblings being gone = wtf?
    ghoulia now speaks???
draculaura, originally a vegetarian, sweet vampire is now a rude ass witch who ain’t even vegetarian?
    hell nawwwww
no hate to the actors or the crew, they most likely had little to no say in it and did their best.

While i do agree that making a new character to be nonbinary would have been good, as a trans person i can see how making an old one nonbinary still makes sense. When i was younger, i didnt know i was trans. I was still going by she/her pronouns, i was a daughter, etc. But then i found out that i was trans and now i can recognize myself as a man. This really trumps all retcons. They said “We’ll do whatever the hell we want and you’re gonna like it.” I like a gender neutral Frankie, but if they really wanted that half-human half monster subplot, Jekyll and Hyde was literally right there. 🫣 They could’ve kept Clawdeen a lesbian. And Cleo and Deuce are damn near just as synonymous as Barbie and Ken were. If you needed a witch, they LITERALLY created Casta and could’ve just pushed Casta to be a part of the main crew if they needed a witch to fill the quota. I think the thing that irks me about Frankie's pronouns is that MH has had queer characters before: Kiyomi being sapphic, Clawdeen being a lesbian, Neighthan being pan, Valentine being gay, Toralei probably being a lesbian (because she follows Nefera a lot and honestly, it was suspicious that she wasn't affected by Kieran's charms). These characters were amazing for being queer though closeted--Clawdeen reacting to Draculaura preferring her brother over her, Kiyomi being soft and blushing around Draculaura, even Valentine battling his internalized homophobia... Those were deep and we explored their characters beyond their orientations, rather how they react to people around them (also, why is Draculaura always involved in those stories).
But for the reboot live-action, they introduced a non-binary character in the weirdest most strange and unnatural way possible... there was so much potential to introduce a queer character in a great way, but this was not it. A missed opportunity, really. As someone who is also non-binary, I don't know if I should be happy about it. In universe, it would make total sense for Frankie to be genderqueer, I mean, she does consist of the body parts of people who's genders can be mixed. I just wished she wasn't introduced like that. And no, it's not that I just want her to "stay quiet" about her identity, I just think there are much better ways to show it.
I would rather Clawdeen was finally revealed to be gay but one thing, the original MH did lack trans characters except for Gilda, but she was basically an unexplored NPC in the background.

@@Hyacinth8418 Then I guess it's my own personal disdain for pronouns then. I'm also genderqueer, but I really hate English and neopronouns nowadays. Not for others, but for me. They always always come out gendered for some weird reason. They/them in queer spaces doesn't even sound neutral, it just sounds like people pertaining to a "third gender", which irks me so much. I doubt English, even with its neopronouns, would ever have a truly singular gender neutral pronoun 😕
Also because no one really introduces themselves with pronouns irl, it's moreso an online thing. Or if done irl, it usually done in s more "Hi I'm __. I'm (insert achievement here), and I'm (insert what you want to be identified as). I'd prefer if you address me as (nickname) and with (pronouns) here." I think rather than introducing it out of the gate; it would be interesting to see Frankie, as they understand more about the umbrella that is gender identity and realize nb and they/them fit their identity better. Of course as it is it can also work, but the dialogue was awkward. Another easy way would be the teacher being like "please introduce yourself" and they can be like "my names Frankie, I'm Frankenstein child, I'm this age, I use they/them, I love fashion" and it would have been so much more natural, that's just how I feel tho.

The rep that they are giving us feels forced and random, especially when they take away rep we already have.
Frankie being nonbinary makes sense, they were likely composed of both male and female parts and since they've only existed for a few weeks they wouldn't have the same concept of gender as everyone else. Probably wouldn't use the word nonbinary but they or even it pronouns works well.
Clawdeen and Deuce should not be a pairing. Clawdeen has always been a lesbian icon and it's been made clear she doesn't find men attractive often. Cleo and deuce should not break up but if they did I'd imagine Deuce would be more likely to hit on Clawd, or one of his guy friends. Cleo would never be into Holt either.
Ghoulia gave nonverbal/semiverbal rep to kids and for them to take that away is ridiculous. She's such an iconic, smart, loveable character with tons of personality even though she doesn't speak and that's important.
Monster High doesn't hate humans, humans hate monsters and all they want is to be able to live freely and peacefully. Monster High is about loving yourself and everything that makes you different, they wouldn't hate humans. Be afraid of them, a bit yeah, but for the most part it's humans that are stirring up trouble. I don't understand why this is becoming a thing.
There's so many ways they could've gone in terms of representation. I think having queer characters checks out but casual representation is more important than anything. Natural, normal, not a big deal. Disabled characters should be there too (again, Ghoulia, but also side characters like Gill count and Frankie having some issues walking or moving or whatever. Things like that.) I'm glad we have something but I'm disappointed too.

      Heavily disagree
When the series was first created it already included LGBT characters and characters who were supposed to be LGBT, so it's not like it's a new thing for them and despite that Frankie is a completely female girl and that's how her parents built her and that's how they made her in the series
Aside from the fact that this whole thing feels very forced it also feels unrelated and just because talking about gender is trendy for the big companies (because sorry but kids aged 8 to 11 do not talk about these issues) and with all due respect to the actor why should he be preferred over any other girl that wanted to be Frankie? Part of Monster High part is to show girls power and to cast a man for the role of this main female character is To ridicule all this meaning, because here also in this place, a men enter and even now those who should be quiet and generalize and accept and agree to that these stuff are women whose rights and possibilities are violated and diminished again. It's definitely not fair.
If they were so eager to put in something like this they could invent a new character, not mess with a main character that Literally was born a week ago at the beginning of the series and its really but really does not make sense that she would know anything about gender and ways of addressing people.

I have no problem with Frankie being a non-binary person, I think it's great that there is LGBT representation in children's films, but I hate how it's implemented. It is not natural to say your pronoun AND gender identification in the classroom. In my opinion, the best representation of non-binary people is Rain from The Owl House. Their pronouns are implemented into the dialogue naturally and we are able to notice ourselves. Show don't tell. Personally, Frankie introducing their pronouns wasn't something out of the ordinary for me. I've had plenty of classes/introductions where we share our pronouns right off the bat. Maybe the way they've done it in the movie could have been scripted a bit better (for example, someone refers to Frankie as "she" in passing and they quickly correct them and they all move on) but for a movie primarily aimed at kids, I'd say this is a pretty decent step forward.

Reasons I've seen of that is making clawdeen lightskin, having a cleo an arab/egyptian character be portrayed by a non arab/egyptian actress, and getting rid of accents like Abby's and Lagoona's. This would be more natural and would help the clueless children understand being non binary more instead of dropping it in the intro in such a forced and unnatural way. The old monster high always handled the situations like this differently and better, the old monster high would probably show someone misgendering Frankie at first and then they would show Frankie talking about their feelings which would explain their story and why they go by they/them pronouns and then the lesson is taught much better and the younger kids will have a better understanding. That’s what monster high did with characters that were minorities in the past and it had a much bigger impact on me.

Personally, I don't think the problem is that monster high has a non-binary character. I believe that a lot of people are disappointed because a popular character who was already established to be female and have she/her pronouns from the beginning of the series was ultimately changed just for representation and how the team introduced them really seemed a little forced, like, I don't think a living, breathing, non-binary human being would introduce themselves like that.
And I'm not saying that representation is a bad thing, it's actually a great thing and it helps children and teens to realise that hetero-normativity isn't the only way and it's perfectly fine if they end up being lgbtq+ when they grow up, or helps them realise they aren't straight and or cis.
In my opinion, I believe it would have been better to keep Frankie's original gender identity but introduce in the main cast a different non-binary character, because if nick could afford to make so many drastic changes to the main cast (heavily looking at lagoona), they could have afforded to create a non-binary character of their own.
I've also seen people saying that Frankie being non-binary makes sense because they could've been made from parts of people of different genders and I agree with that statement. But there's also the possibility of Frankie being made of only female body parts since it's never stated. Or, at least, I've never seen or heard that it's cannon that Frankie is made of body parts of different genders or of only female ones. It matters from which point of view you look at this specific argument with the body parts and I don't there's a right opinion on this one. I just wanted to bring a different perspective.
Again, having a non-binary character IS NOT the problem, the problem is changing the gender identity of an already established character who's been canonically female to only offer representation is. I feel like nickelodeon did this ONLY to get brownie points and get some people to watch the live action movie and the animated series for the sole reason that a character is non-binary and I don't know if they'll humanize Frankie and give them aspirations, emotions and flaws just like any other good written character or just have them be non-binary and nick's job is done. No personality, no character development, just sit there and look pretty.
I honestly don't like how people say that this reboot offers representation all while the og Clawdeen was gay-coded and her creator is very supportive of the head-canon of her being a lesbian but this reboot threw it all away just for Deuce to romance her and they don't even have any chemistry together. Some people say the team made her bi or bi coded, and as a bisexual myself, I don't want to be represented like that. Stealing representation from another overlooked group is not the way and it would've made more sense for Heath to be bisexual or even pansexual than for Clawdeen.
I have no hate towards any of the actors and I wish the best for them. They worked with what they were given and the choices for everything, from the costumes to the script, was out of their control. If you've read my whole rant, thank you, and I hope I made any sense. If you want to have a debate or just talk about this in the reply section, please just be respectful and remember there's a human being behind that account.

And I keep seeing Frankie being made of "multiple parts from different genders" but that doesn't make sense because gender identity is different from sex, so it wouldn't matter anyway. Frankie has always been exclusively female and suddenly changing it for no reason aside from brownie points is a really bad move, I hope the movie isn't cannon to anything but itself

I think that is a good choice for at least how to identify what storyline people can refure too. As for the movie, i see the movies as a separate universe to the original work. specially for how much work and money that would cost. For any level of money, it is allways difficult for a movie to capture an original image and essence of something it is going to capture. So movies are usually something i can shrug off now-a-days. I am more curious for the series, because that is where most of the playline dolls are going to be designed based.

I don't really know how the fact that Frankie is nonbinary will work in other languages (for example: in my native language - Polish - everything has assigned gender, there's no gender-neutral words like in english)
Also I really hate that they made Clawdeen str8, like... why did they change Frankie to be nonbinary but decided to make our lesbien queen Clawdeen str8? Do they want LGBTQ+ representation or not?
Oh, and the MH school doesn't feel like it used to - like a place where everyone is accepted, but not half-blood monsters? And witches? After all, is this a safespace for ALL monsters or just the chosen ones?
And they shouldn't change characters races/skin tones, that just doesn't feel right.
At this point I feel like characters from this reboot are completely different ones that the ones from the og version, just named the same way & at most inspired by the og ones.

I agree 100000% Clawdeen was meant to be lesbian, they could've stuck to it, including how clawdeen has a love interest in this new movie, could've kept cleo and deuce the same pair and get clawdeen a new girl or hint at with another ghoul??? I like the original plot line the best, im all for the representation, but they still could've approached it differently AND stuck to the original plot line. I'm half asian and half european, so if i were clawdeen, i would not be accepted in MH??? Like seriously what happened to being accepted for your 'freaky flaws'? they even removed that quote :/ They could've kept same/similar plot to the original but nope :/// And all their new hobbies and interests are weird? Frankie is the more sociable and friendly one, but now her main attribute is her IQ? when that was kinda ghoulias role? and clawdeen who was a fashionista/designer and now she skateboards apparently LMFAO WHAT??? and draculaura doing witchcraft? what happened to our cute short little vegetarian vampire. For years a huge chunk of the fandom has requested/hoped that Clawdeen could be revealed as a lesbian since they headcanoned it and Garret Sander, the creator of Monster High, gave the idea support. (The MH Instagram Q&A he did a few years ago).
Now even though there’s a lot about this reboot that has been revealed/talked about I seriously doubt they’re gonna bring back and other potential LGBTQ+ characters like Valentine or Neighthan (Val was confirmed by Garrett that he was supposed to be gay but Mattel said it was never the right time and Neighthan was another fan headcanon character) which is really upsetting.
There are already shows out there like The Owl House that has POC & LBGTQ+ leads and is labeled as “a kids show” and has received numerous praise for that. (Mainly towards the creator Dana Terrence because Disney decided to cancel the show but 🤷🏽‍♀️) so it can be done.

    • @kohakuhime7887

Frankie has always been she/her. I feel like making her non binary was just a desperate attempt to make the cast more 'diverse' when they could've, as you said, just made Clawdeen lesbian. Clawdeen being lesbian would make more sense since one of the creators of the show said they would've liked to make her a lesbian if not for censorship, so it's more or less confirmed even if we've never seen it in canon material. But of course- they can't have the reboot Clawdeen be a lesbian because then she wouldn't be able to have a hetero romance arc in the movie which is oh so important to the film writers because they simply *can't* have an explicit lesbian romance in a kids movie without parents going nuts. The story of Frankenstein originated from Germany, so she would have a German accent, but she obviously doesn't have one. Now abt Frankie because I have a pretty realistic idea for them.
I agree with most of the comments about Frankie not knowing what a high-five is but knowing about their pronouns at 15 days old.
So, I think that they should have another character in the show who’s non-binary, even if they’re a new character or a teacher. Frankie meets them, they explain a little about their pronouns and then Frankie adopts the pronouns when they realize that’s what they feel like!
This is coming from a non-binary person btw. That’s how I came to find mine. For a long time I was going by he/him instead of she/her but they didn’t feel right, then I learned about non-binary from someone I went to school with. I now go by they/them.
I’m sure plenty of other people have had a similar experience with pronouns or even sexuality.

However, from a Monster High “brand” standpoint, they built a empire on the fact these dolls/characters WERE so different. They were always about not conforming to cater to others, with fierce current trendy high fashion outfits. I know it’s for a new generation and not really for older fans, but even kids these days know of OLD Monster High, and loved it. The first reboot made them far too childish, and while this reboot feels like a slight step in the right direction, it still looks/feels too childish for what Monster High is supposed to be, in my personal opinion. Honestly Shadow High’s giving more Monster High than Monster High lately 😂 If the leaked dolls are true, then the new line looks VERY Barbara. Which isn’t a good thing. I’m not so much here for Non-Blue Lagoona though. I think the new design is cute, but it just doesn’t read sea-monster. It’s tie-dye mermaid at best which is cute but it’s not Lagoona Blue. This new Lagoona design feels like a completely different character who just happens to share her name. I’ll give her a chance though because the design doesn’t always make-or-break a character in movies, but if they change her chill vibe I won’t be very happy… it DEFINITELY isn’t a doll I’d buy, though.
Also… as much as the hints at Clawdeen and Draculara make me excited… Clawdeen and Deuce… is a hard no from me. Same for Cleo and Heath. Appreciating possibly Bi Clawdeen, though.
But I will give new Lagoona and the live action movie the benefit of the doubt with a hesitant watch. The plot sounds interesting, so… hopefully it turns out to be better than we think.

I definitely think there’s a thin line on good representation in media, one good example of Trans representation is Raine from The Owl House (excellent show, great characters, definitely a treat for the lgbtq+ community, and highly recommend) Raine was confirmed as Non-binary and goes by they/them pronouns, and the show does what it did best within not making the representation seeming forced. With Frankie, I love the concept of them being canonically transgender, I’m already STARVING for more representation like that in media, especially in this franchise considering that it’s something I grew up with. But the movies execution of it just didn’t click with me.

I always loved the idea of nonbinary Frankie, to me it just made more sense (especially since they’re made of different limbs and body parts put together…i mean they definitely could be a mix of male/female and not feel completely in the binary)….but the straight forward way they introduced them is kinda strange…no hate to anyone who is open enough to give out their pronouns when introducing themselves but considering Frankie is brand new to the world…it is weird that they’d have the vocabulary to voice their identity. I just wish it was either 1. Everyone just automatically refers to them as “they” or 2. Maybe Frankie makes an offhand comment about not feeling binary/ wanting to be referred to “they”. Either way i see it as a win for queer monster high fans. It’s something new while also being realistic to their character imo

the problem to me is that they are changing so much about the story in a cheap attempt to get brownie points. To me, Frankie being NB is so performative to me. They could've added a new NB character instead of just sloppily slap a LGBT label on an existing character for the sake of it. Clawdeen was already confirmed as a lesbian by the creator so why did they make her straight? Why was Draculaura asian? As an asian person this does not feel genuinely inclusive it feels forced. A better way would've been to bring back CANON asian characters like Kiyomi and Jinafire. There's just so much I hate about the choices the producers made on this movie, no hate to the actors just doing their job though.
Edit; Clawdeen wasn't confirmed lesbian but she was queer-coded and the creator just said he approved of clawdeen being lesbian. Regardless, it's still a better choice imo to make clawdeen queer if the producer's goals were for representation.

Clawdeen was never confirmed to be a lesbian, the creator just said he liked the fan’s headcanon. Putting her in a relationship with Deuce was weird tho. They shouldve just let her do her own thing and be independent like in the original and let fans have their headcanons. And yeah Draculaura becoming asian was weird. Also weird how they went out of their way to make sure cleo’s actress was middle eastern but cast an asian for drac.

Its something little me would’ve absolutely loved to hear as I’ve always fought with myself about my identity.
Also, I’m truly hoping the writers use this as an opportunity to make Deuce and Clawdeen’s interests with each other more of an experimental one. From what I’ve always gathered from the OG monster high, Cleo and Deuce??? Can’t be separated. So why would they change that now? Every time they break up, they get back together; I truly don’t think that’s going to change. Clawdeen still has the possibility of being lesbian or bisexual. Finding your interests isn’t linear and these characters are high schoolers still learning what floats their boats lol I’m really excited as to what the possibilities can come from this reboot

Hell I've done it for clubs, and honestly its made me feel a lot less awkward introducing myself as using they/them. Frankie has been one of my fav characters as a kid and seeing them now also be nb is amazing to see. I also think this was a well thought out decision to make Frankie specifically nb with a lot of trans people relating to the og Frankenstein story. Someone also pointed it out but it makes sense that Frankie would introduce a very important part of themselves in a very direct way, like you're 2 weeks old how else are you gonna tell people this. I'm non binary myself with they/them pronouns. I just think they chose the wrong character to make non binary. Especially since cartoon frankie was supposed to be a strong female who was feminine yet still strong therefore breaking gender stereotypes and the mary sue sorta thing where they make the strong girl masculine/overly cool. 1. Non binary Frankie makes sense but it still feels performative hearing how Mattel treated the gay creator who wasn’t allowed to have openly lgbtq+ characters because it wasn’t the “right time”.
    2. I think it would’ve been better to have clawdeen be lesbian and have romance with Frankie or Draculaura.
    3. I don’t like how they portray ghoulia in the trailers I’ve seen. In G1 she was smart and a little timid to me, nonverbal in a way, but now it looks like she’s been made into the “weird girl” which is sad.
    4. It’s weird for lagoona to have human skin color when she’s supposed to be from the water. Her pink redesign is cute, but unrecognizable and I think it would’ve been more fun if her pink design was her sister and we got a new character.
    4. I really wonder what Hyde holt would’ve looked like in this reboot and I hope they bring him back. Maybe I should be careful what I wish for though because Heath’s design in the animation looks horrid.

The only thing I can applaud them for is making frankie non-binary since that makes the most sense considering her being made of many random parts. Other than that they took something many fans once loved and trampled it till there was nothing left of the freaky fabulous ghouls we grew up with. Also the "segregation aspect" between ghouls and humans in this story seems unnecessary and the plot basically being them hunting down the "Not pure monster" seems almost like a racial thing? Some South American representation for fans is super cool.
And this is coming from an Australian btw. Im a little sad she wont have her Aussie accent anymore but i think this is a way better angle to take her character for this generation and pay homage to her classic horror origin. Plus if we were to get an Australian character i would rather they were an Indigenous Australian rather than a blonde white person because they are the traditional owners of this land and are NOT represented enough in media, especially in fashion dolls.

I think overall, we all need to remember that this is for kids! The more they shout Frankie's pronouns from the rooftops, the more real life kids will feel like it's a normal and comfortable thing to do. Why be subtle and in the shadows when trans people have had to do that for decades? Children don't need subtlety, they need to feel like they belong. I think it's fantastic

    • @LenaFerrari
      @LenaFerrari 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

Exactly! That's going to be amazing to the kids that don't really feel like either boys or girls. They will see that's OK to be themselves and all, and the other kids will learn that being like this is just fine and normal and won't exclude them as much
It's not that I don't think this is partially being done for the publicity, but I can't ignore how awesome this is going to be for non binary kids anyway

I personally don't understand why the would choose to do this with specifically Clawdeen since there's already a character that is half human half monster. It would've been fun to that character to bring back or introduced as a new student that the main case can help fit it or try to keep the secret for.

When I was younger and the original monster high was out i used to go to target and buy a doll with my birthday and Christmas money and when boo York boo York the musical came out my parents got it for Christmas they let us open it early we stayed up all night watching it over and over again I used to love spending time with my sisters watching monster high movies playing with the dolls. It always made me smile that’s why even tho the new movie looks a bit different from what I’m used to I’m willing to try it so that I can make new memories that make me smile even brighter :)

I think one thing people have to remember is that a reboot doesn't retroactively take away from the original. The 2010s dolls, books, movies, lore, etc. still exist! If you prefer 2010 Frankie, cool! She's still right there for you to love. Personally my enby self is excited to love both / all versions the same (except maybe G2. Cuz like... Yeah.)

Im nonbinary too and personally for me they just try too much. With all the gender neutral stuff and new logos like its not that they are bad it’s just that they lack the original. Because when i was a kid i didn’t even care about it being girly or sth it was just cool the way it was. But that’s personal i don’t really hate it. The biggest issue for me is that they made actors look cheap again just like in all mvs and promotion videos like they always did. Why not whow kids how to actually look good or actually show alternative subculture and fashion instead of doing cheap chaotic looks

Yeah, we know that... but in my opinion honestly not everything needs a reboot especially Monster High if you're not gonna do it right😂... this show was unique compared to other shows and they made it into your average new Disney live action descendants kind of movie.. even though descendants might even be better than this.

@@user-js3ig5zo8v Who’s to say what’s “right” though? Just because it doesn’t appeal to your preferences? Because it’s not the same as the last go-round? I’m a Power Rangers fan; that show has seen more reboots and network switches than anything I can think of. If a season doesn’t appeal to me, I don’t say “oh, why weren’t the creators thinking of me and my tastes specifically!” Or “why isn’t this exactly like the seasons I enjoy!” You can choose to ignore this whole movie! If nothing else, it’ll bring new people into the fandom, and they’ll be able to check out the old material for themselves. I apologize if all of this sounds mean; I’m not trying to be! I'm definitely open-minded to the movie despite some grievances, like losing out on Cleo and Deuce. I don't mind Frankie being trans either, just the way that specific line was written sounded very awkward. A lot of people were also scared of this being a musical, but the last time MH had a musical (Boo York), it was a major bop so quite excited for the soundtrack at least.

This movie is an insult. Whoever developed this obviously has no idea who these characters are or what Monster High is all about. Me and my daughter loved these movies and dolls. I bought every movie and had well over 100 dolls. We were devoted fans. Everything changed when they started making the dolls different. They looked cheap with less of the beautiful details that made them so unique and beautiful.
What I’m seeing in this trailer is the biggest slap in the face to fans of the franchise. The characters look ridiculous. I really didn’t think it could be this bad but it’s worse than anything I could’ve imagined. The actual trailer, the official trailer has its comments turned off! That says a lot. No one who is a true fan of Monster High can look at this and be anything but disgusted.
